Fantastic hike!!!! One of the best that I have accomplished this year. It is 11.4 miles, not 13, but if you don't like going down hill, the last 2.5 miles will feel like 5 miles. As others have said it is that first (and last) 2.5 miles that are the steepest. The middle is relatively easy (if you are used to big hikes) while the switchbacks make the last mile quite doable. Very pretty, no steep drop offs, lots to look at, the rock and tree formations are fantastic. The Forest Service office in Idyllwild opens at 8 but you can also get a permit in the outdoor kiosk.

This was one of the best hikes! Highly recommend it

I love this trail, especially in the Fall. I bring my labrador and we have a great time.

Pick up you dog s**t and trash you filthy animals. Don’t bring your aggressive dogs on trail; otherwise it is a nice stroll.

Probably one of the more rugged areas of the plateau but not crowded. Nobody at the adobes on mid morning Tuesday. Some shaded areas along the ridge by the pools. All the pools were dry in late October. Will return after some rains.

I spent a weekday hiking numerous trails in the area. The trail is in the sun, early starts are best. Somewhat rocky in spots but easy to follow.

This is our go to for a quick dose of nature. I often come here to clear my head and get centered.i love this place. It’s beautiful after a heavy rain.

Not a bad trail. More of a nature walk than a hike. Sandy along the river bed. Several shallow crossings.

Solid overall hike! Also can confirm that while it is a bit tight at the top with vegetation, I had no real trouble getting through and is currently very accessible. Only negative is the parking lot is a decent distance to the actual trailhead.

Trail Closed.

After the rains and it greens up such a great place to hike and for us close to home

Beautiful views, though physically challenging. Hiked the trail last Saturday. Went through five liters of water.

Rand Closed. Permit only

Great hike, very worth it. The climb to Little Round Valley is the hardest part. After the valley, the final assent isn’t much farther or as hard.

If you approach the highest point from directly below, there’s an easy boulder problem ;)

Took the dog out for a Saturday morning walk and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people out on this trail. The only negative would be the few rocky spots at the start, but once past that it is a nice easy stroll with multiple options to stop by the river. Will definitely be heading back in the future.

Pretty easy, hot, and dusty. It's a pretty shaded trail, so that definitely helps with the heat, but if you can get going early, I'd recommend it. Pretty average hike imo. Not bad, but also not amazing. The river is pretty! Take the app with you. It's easy to take a wrong turn.

A nice outdoor hike. Not intense at all but its easy to get lost. I had to use to app to follow the trail.

New favorite peak in Southern California. Took seven hours round trip including 45 m. at the peak. Beautiful.

We came in off 79 by RV Park, turned left up small hill towards private gate and trail viers off to left from there. nice trail with high outlooks and made it up to fire watch tower following pretty easy trail. I saw a lot of stock tire tread patterns in the dirt and passed a three others along the trip but nothing too crowded. keep ur backup points in mind as some sections are narrow for a ways. we were hoping to pop out in the Observatory area and take their tour but gates at that end wefe closed. I had called S. B. Ranger station late last week who told me gates were open so be aware things change. The ride back was still nice and range at watch tower was also nice to talk with. Fire scars show how rough the terrain is to be fighting fires so hats off to them.

Midweek hike. Had a late start up the trail and had the summit peak all to myself! Beautiful views, enjoyed the late afternoon sun glowing through the forest trees on the way back down.

Visiting from Arizona we wanted to take the Jeep out for a nice Californian drive. Most of the places up north from this trail were all closed because of the forest fires, But This trail was perfect, just the right amount of hills and low traffic. I aired down the tires and we drove pretty quick through some of the turns it was fun. About a quarter of the way through we saw a another trail heading down the mountain so we gave it a try it was a lot more technical and a lot of fun.

Fun place to take kids and dogs

hiked a few weeks ago. great trail, managed to go up and back to the car in about 5 1/2 hours.

first part of the trail was the most brutal for me, although this may have been on account of the pace.

views were unfortunately terrible this time because of all the smoke by San gorgonio. what little I could see of the vast expanse of desert from the top was awe inspiring, and I hope for clear skies on my next visit!

a must for any serious socal hiker

Great hike! Great views! Not too tough as a day hike with a day pack. Might like to overnight on the summit some day, but a full pack would make this one tougher.

Great family hike!

It was a beautiful scenery with lots of greenery & water. The hike was moderate I did it with my dog, puppy,& 2kids. Ok now the negative we picked up a TICK but luckily it didn't attach to anyone yet. So before you go out here put on your deterrent & protect your fur babies!!!!

Enjoyed this trail, scenery was beautiful

Great place to start if you are camping in one of the spots nearby. You should start as early as possible and be prepared for some serious elevation gain. The top is pretty crowded so you may have to spend a good amount of time at the top.

longer than indicated. full sun exposure towards the top.
