First off if you follow the route displayed for this trail you will be hiking part of the loop off trail. We just continued to follow the old keep trail until we reached Tool Box Springs Camp and re-connected the loop shortly after passing the Springs. The trail portion and the old Jeep trail were awesome, the road portion not my favorite but necessary for making this hike a loop. No real snow to contend with and only saw about a dozen or so people. Very enjoyable morning.
Great trail! Last .05 is a good test to the top! One of the best hikes in SoCal!
Really nice trail. Some scrabble but all in all I would do it again.
Loved this hike. I’d rate it overall moderate. Easy in the beginning with a steep rocky climb to the peak that could be considered hard. The pup loved it. Check your dog for ticks after.
Great trail. Clearly marked. Spikes not required but would’ve been helpful to make it make a quicker accent. Lots of snow about half way up.
Went early Monday morning and was all alone. Loved this trail. Very peaceful and quiet. The last climb is difficult but the views are amazing.
Gradual climb the entire way. Moderate difficulty other than length. Watch distance matched 12.4 miles stated. Mellow switchbacks about halfway up then if you go counterclockwise, you’ll hit the dirt road. Top was full snow, fog, and very windy/cold. Come prepared in winter. If completing the loop (not out and back), parts of the trail from the top back down can be a bit difficult to follow but not too bad. Fun hike, very pretty, very cold. Good if you’re looking for distance but not difficultly. With a lunch break, took 5.5 hours.
Great hike! Steady climb most of the way. The last half mile is the most challenging. Gorgeous views.
My husband and I used this trail as a test run for an upcoming backpacking trip so we hiked with about 25 pound packs each and loved the challenge! The top 2 miles were steep. The trail was narrow at some points and there were a fair amount to people hiking. We hiked on Saturday, 2/6/21 and parking was tough to come by!
Awesome hike. Last mile is a climb!!
Painful but worth the view
