Great trip with my FJ. A couple of non4wheel drive vehicles were attempting it and were having a difficult time. Great views

So much fun. First trail I took my Raptor on.

Amazing and breath taking view

This was a great hike! Didn’t make it to the peak for a couple of reasons. The main being there was way too much snow on the ground. My lifted Jeep made it up until we started sliding back on the ice. Also, we started at about 3pm, so obviously we were losing sunlight. It’s doable if you start early and wear snow boots. Hiking stalks would’ve been a plus as well.

Went through October 2018 with snow on the ground in several areas. It is a little rocky but not bad, dont really need 4 wheel drive on this. We did this in a 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk no problem.

Great hike, not too steep. Pretty short. Amazing fall color views, though the trail doesn't take you through aspen groves. Big lake which unfortunately is down at least 10 feet in these dry conditions, but totally worth hiking this trail. Great hike. The views are incredible and we saw the lake in clouds, sunshine, and snow—all within about 10 minutes. It’s well worth the effort. We saw it listed as “moderate” but viewed it as tougher than that.

Amazing and challenging hike. Use the directions from earlier posts (thanks) to make sure you don’t miss the trail to Blue Lake. Bridal trail falls was just a trickle at this time of year but there are other amazing waterfalls along the trail. Make sure you wear hiking boots or trail runners. Hikers who wore running shoes had trouble navigating the loose gravel both up and down the trail. The views were well worth the hike!!

Beautiful hike with amazing views of peaks along the way and moraine lake and wilderness at the end

Now one of my favorite 14ers!
If you have 4 wheel drive and high clearance try to go as far up this road as you can! It will help eliminate you hiking up the whole road to get to the trail head! If you can make it far up that road, you will thank yourself on the way back down

Loved it. First time off road with a Jeep and wasn’t to bad.

Great trail. Awesome views. Jeep did fine no issues. Only drawback was all the side by sides. Rude, did not make sure narrow areas were clear and just go. Made them back up to passing areas a few times. People remember in Colorado up hill traveling vehicle has right-a-way.

Beautiful Hike - every turn you take you either have an awesome viewpoint or eyes on a waterfall. Hiked this in last August while a storm was rolling in. It was overcast, but I imagine on a clear day you will be hot and in the sun for most of the hike.
Any 4x4 car will make it to the top of Bridal Veil Falls (no need for high clearance). The first fork in the trail: Right will take you to Silver Lake. Second fork in the trial: Left will take you to Blue Lake, Right will take you to Lewis Lake

Meh - not worth the time. A couple spots had nice views of the valley below, but nothing spectacular. The road is very rocky and bumpy. After doing this trail I feel quite beaten up even with airing down the tires! I can agree that this trail should not be attempted when raining as there is 8 miles of clay/dirt road that would be very slick when wet. My advice, find another trail.

Beautiful hike. Lake is low but still totally beautiful. We went on a weekday and had the whole lake to ourselves for hours. The scenery on the way up is beautiful! Happy hiking!

Awesome trail. We went up to the lakes area and explored a bit then headed over to the Gold King Basin trail which wasn't mentioned anywhere. It was totally worth while. The road was rocky and bumpy, but easily done in our 4X4 Tacoma and 4X4 4Runner. Had lunch at the end of the trail and were entertained with several chipmunks and woodchucks nearby. The views were gorgeous.

This was our first trail on our visit to Ouray. The trail starts off pretty easy and gets rockier the father you go up. We got to the top portion where the sign states short wheel base, high clearance only past this point. We are driving a lifted Tacoma and a lifted 4 Runner, so we figured we would attempt it. We made it up a couple of the switch backs, but then decided to not push any further as it was raining and sleeting and traction was not great on the rocks. We turned around and headed back down. It was a beautiful trip, even if we didn't make it all the way to the top.

Absolutely beautiful views and such a fun drive up the mountain. Saw some wildlife and experienced spectacular views. Would 100% do it again and maybe go camping.

OMG. Like Bill said, moderate is an understatement. However, I followed a couple of guys and they taught me alot. My maiden voyage for me and my jeep. The view at the summit was beyond magnificent. It was a challenge mentally somewhat, but worth gaining the experience.

Great views! Loved all the Aspen trees. Would like to come back when the leaves are changing.

Considered this hike hard. Continous incline until reaching the lake. Unfortunately the day was overcast and the lake wasn't as blue. Great views and waterfalls. Took us 4 hours to complete

Loved this hike! Well maintained and easy to follow. The trail starts out easy and the second half is more strenuous. Most of the climb is after the first mile. Beautiful hike with lots of trees and rocky spots. I was surprised at how colorful the vistas were.

This is an absolutely stunning hike. We drove our jeep to the top of bridal veil Falls near the powerhouse and parked in the sixth switch back up. There is no parking at the very top of the 4 x 4 trail near the powerhouse. We are flatlanders from Ohio and it was our first day at altitude so we were sucking wind most of the way up. Took us about 2 hours and 10 minutes to reach the lake. Started hailing as soon as we got up there. It was a beautiful hike all the way through with a stream, waterfalls, and amazing mountain scenery the whole way. For sure one of my favorite hikes of all time. Bring a lot of water, I drank about 4 L, and make sure to dress in layers and be prepared for weather at the top.

Awesome easy hikes multiple trailheads to explore

We did the hike starting from the very bottom of the falls since we just had a small sedan. The hike was about 11 miles from the bottom round-trip (per my Fitbit) and was about 150 flights up. The trail was gorgeous! Honestly, it was one of the prettiest hikes I’ve ever been on (and I’ve also hiked Mt Sneffels). Since we went at the end of August, the colors were breathtaking and we started around 7:00 am so the mountains were shrouded with clouds & mist. It was awesome. Definitely a challenging hike since the first 5+ miles are all incline. The Lake itself isn’t that spectacular but it was cool to see the old mining ruins next to it.

Pretty quick and easy ride up to the trailhead for Bridal Veils & Blue Lake. The trail is pretty rocky and I don't think a sedan would make it but any higher clearance vehicle would be fine.

Giving this hike 1 star is REALLY low class. Come on people you are rating a nature trail, not a hotel experience.

Let me correct the 'Trail Divas' below (complaining about lack of shade...really?!) by saying that the scenery on this hike is absolutely gorgeous and this is a great hike if you do not wish to spend the whole day hiking and want to spend part of your day in Telluride.

Going early eliminates some of the crowd (and sun) and the cars driving up, but I didn't expect extreme solitude being so close to town. We did this hike to warm up for some bigger hikes later in our week long trip and this was perfect. This box canyon is absolutely breathtaking and packs almost un-obstructed scenery the entire hike.

Short and sweet. Good, healthy climb. You’ll find yourself in front of stellar views, enveloped in an aspen glade, then towering evergreens soon thereafter. Wonderful. Would rate this as moderate instead of hard.
