This trail was a bit difficult but so worth the steps and struggles (carrying a toddler)! Ha-Ha!!!! I loved the overlook of the lake and our son really enjoyed the views too! I am so glad we finally got around to do this trail and did not stop at the second bench of the Twin Peaks trail.
I would say this is a "must-do" hike, at least once. ;-)

Took the shorter trail to the left on the way up, very slippery with mud and very steep. Amazing views at the top. Took the lazy moose trail on the way down and we were happy we did. Not steep or slippery at all, round trip with breaks took us 4.5 hours

I loved this hike. Only a small step and rocky portion at the top! Great views

Gorgeous with the fall colors! A perfect hike if you want to be able to talk and hike. The trail is wide enough to walk side by side most of the way.

Such an awesome and beautiful hike. After a few rest stops, some pickings of blueberries and crowberries on the backside of Baldy and a fair amount of peaceful time at the top, it took me about 4 hours (starting at the bottom of Baldy). Can’t wait to return with a drone.

Incredibly tough trail with incredibly beautiful and inspiring views. Lucky enough to have had beautiful weather. My friend made it all the way to the peak and said it was amazing up there. The last 100 to 150 yards or so were too steep and too sketchy for my comfort. Climbed up really high and took a little siesta on a flat over look right before the 45 degree climb to the peak started. This trail really challenged me and molded me as a person. I recommend it to all who want to push their limits. We sent the night out there, hiked in to the bowl area and made camp. It was amazing, by far the best trip of the summer for me.

AMAZING hike! The portion that winds through the boulder field was pretty fun! I recommend this hike! Amazing scenery and awesome day hike. Finished it in about 5 hours and stopped often to take photos!

Tons of fun, highly recommend stopping here. good mix of difficulty but well worth the view. little slick if raining!

Beautiful and scenic views for a sunset stroll. The leaves were magnificent on the mountains, and the reflections on the lake were amazing!!

Super super challenging, hardest hike I’ve done to date but so worth it at the top!!

Beautiful! Definitely pretty steep and strenuous, especially the last bit towards the top. But, once you get there you can see everything! Anchorage, the entire Valley, plus endless peaks.

Very beautiful hike and great view of Eagle River and on a good day, you might see part of Anchorage as well.

it was fine, but don't go if it's cloudy. no view from the top, but luckily it cleared enough to see the lake on my way back at the first bench

Love this hike. The trail is easy to follow and has some incredible views. We saw a few sheep off in the distance but did not spot much other wildlife on our hike. The fireweed was at the top of it’s blooms but still made for some awesome pictures.

Beautiful view, given it started drizzling mid-hike but nonetheless it was gorgeous. Trail gets steeper and more gravelly as you get closer to the top but overall was a fun hike.

Recommend bringing trekking poles. Very steep on the way up, if you take the right entrance. Left side could be used for both up and down if you don’t mind walking a little longer and stay on the safe side. Amazing view on the top though! Could be a great work out trail!

So much fun doing this hike today! This is my all time favorite trail. Just make sure to wear good hiking boots and good mood. Expect to get muddy or wet on the legs. Pretty rocky and fun hopping around. Beautiful scenery will not disappoint you as you put work into the hike. Parking is $5 cash. Would bring truck since the way up is kinda rough. Bring lots of water to drink. Snack may not be a bad idea since it took 5 hours for me and my husband to complete the hiking. Will do it again!

Fantastic hike!! definitely not for the faint hearted, the walk is pretty steep and the air gets very thin but it's worth it for the views! FYI the ski lift looks like its shut but there are two so keep walking down and you'll see it; $15 for a trip down - we were dead on our feet so were more than happy to grab it. Lots of wasps around the top for anyone allergic. A must hike!

Well worth the hike. I’d recommend going up the hard route (right) and reward yourself by coming down the easier side (left). The views at the top were breathtaking. Took about 35 minutes up with water breaks and had the summit to myself. If you have the time, continue along the ridge to Black Tail (another must do).

Steep steep to the top, but so worth it! Went down the easier way, and that helped a lot.

Awesome hike but should be rated hard, not moderate. Lots of bouldering on wet rocks so be careful not to slip. Beautiful pools of water along the way and lush green grass. We made it to the first lake and had lunch then headed back down. Definitely check this one out!

This trail was my favorite during my trip to Alaska. We backpacked in to the lower lake and set up camp for the night. Once we set up, we hiked another 20/30 minutes to see the upper lake. It was a relatively easy hike even with all our camping gear. I went with someone who had recently done the trail. If not, I may have found the boulder field a bit difficult to navigate. Lots of people with dogs that made it a day hike. I would absolutely recommend this hike for anyone that has the time.

nice lake surrounded with mountains in the distance. Numerous waterfowl on the lake.

July 29. Great hike with amazing views. Give yourself plenty of time and bring plenty of water. If you plan to make it all the way to the end, be prepared for a narrow trail on the ridge next to a steep scree slope that requires a bit of scrambling. The descent is quite rough on the knees. Overall great hike. Enjoy!

It was definitely more difficult than I anticipated toward the end. Wanted more switchbacks. But we made it! pack in more water than you think. We ran out.
