Love the hike. Fantastic view and kid friendly.

Great hike!

The other reviews don't lie, this is a non-stop uphill battle from the start all the way to the lake. the trail is very shaded in the early morning but not very shaded in the afternoon. takes lots of water or a purifier to replenish. totally worth all the pain though!

This is PERFECT for a quick hike or a run. The loop is about 2 miles, steeper to go up on the left side, and then coming back down the other side has nice smooth switch backs. I ran the loop twice and it’s nearly entirely in the shade. Not too trafficked either -It was actually very quiet and peaceful. There is a $3 fee for Millcreek canyon, but it’s worth it.

Amazing hike! Started around 7:30am and made it to the top around 10:30am, taking about a 20 minute break. It had rained the night before, so the weather on the way up was wonderful. Also starting early in the morning made it so the majority of the hike on the way up was all in the shade. There is also good shade coverage from trees the higher you climb. Definitely steep, especially near the top-you end up doing more bouldering than actual hiking. The view at the top is worth it! Ran most of the way back down, legs were very shaky at the bottom and stepping onto the road asphalt felt like walking on a soft cushion after the trail running. Didn’t drink as much water as I thought -not quite 2L and I still felt very hydrated. Definitely a hike to check off your list!

Delightful hike through the aspen trees.

We took our 9 and 11 year old girls, they did just fine with a few stops for water; we hit the trail at noon in mid-August, it was dry and hot, but lots of sections of the trail had shade, which our kids liked.

we did 4 of the lakes, well worth it. saw a huge moose about 15 paces from us, as well as a lot of other wildlife. lake mary was moderately trafficked, but catherine and the smaller one we saw only had one or two others in sight. we only saw two other people on the actual loop (they worked for the watershed) but there seemed to be people both going to mary or catherine, just not via the loop.

great view from top. so close to reach from town.

Great hike to the falls. If you want to go further, it's nice, too. Fairly steep after the falls, but not hard.

It's steep, but the cave is beautiful. Great hike

beautiful trail. one of my favorites!

As others have said, take the dirt road at Orson Park. I almost got tempted to try a different route since I live in Lehi, but looking at google images, doesn’t look like there is a fully thru way yet.
I’m not the biggest fan of the first half of the trail. It has a very dry desert mountain feel to it and gets quite steep. Once it levels out and gets into some pine, I loved it. Traversing across rock reminded me of some hikes I’ve done in southern Utah and the view of the peak is fantastic. Nothing really too tough or scary until you get to the very top. The last five minutes or so to reach the top really made me think twice. Great view though and well worth it. Took me 4 hours and 15 minutes to the top. Started at 8:15am and was at the top at 12:30.

I loved this hike!! It was great for me and my boys!! It was a good length and a mix of flat and a little steep!

Incredible trail you get back in the thick of things cross the river several times and if you like to get away from things this is a great trail. A lot of up and down and steep in places but so worth it.

This hike was amaze-inggg! It was a little harder than I thought it would be, but that might be because I went in the afternoon on a hot day. I loved the views, the water crossing and the lake at the end (definitely went swimming). I took my dog and his feet got hot in the darker dust, we had to take a lot of breaks and I carried him for a bit. I keep dreaming about it and plan to do it again!

Went yesterday in beautiful weather. $6 after Alta resort to drive to the top, but worth it. Also worth it to park at the Albion Basin Campground instead of the Catherine's Pass lot. After Cecret Lake, a tiny section of the service road is blocked and under construction, but don't give up, just follow the lift up the hill. It took us 1.5 hours from parking lot to Sugarloaf peak, but with plenty of rest stops. It took us about 1.5 to get down too, but that's because the hill down the peak on the loop is very steep, but still recommended over going back the way you came because it has switch-backs and isn't as rocky as the way up. It also took us longer because at the bottom of the hill we went right instead of staying left closer to the lake, and that put us back a twenty minute detour. All things considered, you could get up there after breakfast and be done for lunch, but I'd recommend snacks. So beautiful!!!

It's very easy hike. My two year old loved every minute of it. It's pretty and we loved the water fall.

Definitely a strenuous hike for unconditioned bodies! Well trafficked area with lots of people on the trail. Dogs allowed which is nice. Available parking close to entrance during the week. Lots of kids. Good warm up hike for the newly adventurous.

Falls are only a bit more than a trickle this time of year. Steeper hike than you'd think

fun hike, gorgeous lake and pretty flowers

This was our 3rd hike since moving to Salt Lake City. I would highly recommend this trail if you are a moderate hiker. The topography was my favorite so far. The tall trees cover most of the hike and you constantly have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It isn’t too intense for anyone and the view of the city is amazing once your up there.

This was pretty good. Well maintained trail with only a few rocky sections. The view at the top was great, but difficult to enjoy due to bugs and lack of sitting places.

It’s 1.5 miles straight up hill. No gradual rises but totally doable. Went with my sons 5th grade Fieldtrip and had a great time!

pretty lake!!

Great dog trail. But watch out for poison ivy.

The actual mileage is 5.2, but its super relaxing; gets a little crowded so I would make sure to start by 0700. The scenic overlook is good, but not as good as Living Room (though the hike is better).

A lot of doggos. So many good boys.

I’ve lived in N Salt Lake on the east bench for 3 years and this is the first crack at this trail. You should probably read the reviews before you set out on this one. It’s a relatively challenging hike at times but offers a lot of stream access and not too difficult for the first mile. Apparently the end (what I believe was the common end) is right around the clear cut area which is just under 3 miles in. I pressed on for another quarter mile and at that point there were several jogs that were completely overgrown. It was kinda cool to push through thick brush and also added to the challenge. It got late in the afternoon and I turned around but will return and press on because there’s got to be more of a payoff than that clear cut area.
