Great views of lake tahoe starting about halfway through the hike most of the way to the top. The jeep trail towards the towers is the way to snow valley peak. Not very many people on the trail. If you go straight past the jeep trail you get a good view of Lake Marlette, with the option to hike an extra mile down to it. Would do it again

Took this trail today, and despite the haze from the North Fire, it was great as usual. No cell service at the Spooner Summit /TRT parking area, so couldn’t track the hike using the All Trails app.. oh well. After hitting Snow Valley peak, I took the Jeep road down to where it meets the road leading north to Marlette Lake. Went and looked around, and then headed back south on the dirt road towards Spooner. One tip: this was a thirsty hiking day, and 3l in hydration bladder wasn’t gonna do. Where the Jeep road down from the TRT meets with the Marlette Creek dirt road, there is a very clean, fast flowing spring fed creek to refill bottles/hydration bladder. I didn’t die drinking it. You probably won’t either. ;-)
All together this “loop” was 24km. Enjoy!

Gorgeous hike. Hikers and bikers alike. Slightly windy at twin lakes but a great snack spot. I was all alone there... I think most people take the marlette route.

Very nice part of the TRT. I started at Spooner Summit and went south. Adding the Kingsbury North to Kingsbury South connector on at the end was a large task due to the incline and by that point my energy had been spent. I took the time to go to the peak of Genoa and also climb around Castle Rock for a great overlook of South Lake Tahoe.

Great views with a beautiful lake! The rocks and boulders get a little in the way for runners but I’ll run this trail again for sure!

The views are breathtaking (as is the elevation gain). As mentioned before, it's heavily used by mountain bikers.
On the way back, we decided to take the Tahoe Rim Trail to BP (Diamond Peak - 8,540 feet) and then the Incline Flume Trail (it will add an extra 9 miles to the hike, but it's totally worthwhile, with unique views of Washoe Lake.

Awesome views and quite the workout.

This trail is amazing. I started at Spooner summit. Its steep at first then it gets better. I went off the trail a few times to see the lakes from the rocks. There are some hidden trails you can see in all trails to go up to the peak. I only went 3 hours out and turned around since I was not prepared with camping gear. You are allowed to camp along the trail and they advice to camp no further than 300ft from the trail. The altitude changes fast. This is not a beginner trail.

Mistake. Didn’t do this hike (first-time AllTrails app user...).
We did go to the trailhead but the parking lot was closed and there was too much snow. So turned around and did the Tahoe Rim, Tunnel Creek Road trail which was fantastic!

Loved this hike, but it was definitely an advanced hike, and the trails are hard to follow or know where to even start. You really need to do your homework on this one so that you know where you are before you head up the mountain.

On December 29th, who would think we could do this hike? It was a good workout both ways... ice-snow made it intetesting.

We hiked this trail up to the Castle Rock trail to some amazing views at Castle Rock. We had the trail to ourselves at 11am but by 130, there were a fair amount of hikers. Lots of good vistas of Tahoe and mountains beyond. Ice only in small parts, we handled it fine in hiking boots.

Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. Lots of places to stop and observe. Great hike.

Nice trail! Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe... def worth it

Visited once in the end of October 17, and it is very scenic and gorgeous.

Nice trail. I met a few people. It’s between easy and moderate. My dog handled the trail easily. There are nice spots with awesome views of the lake and Carson city at the same time.

trail running

This was a gorgeous trail for running - I'm a beginning trail runner and really enjoyed it. I started started around 830 AM at the crossroad and was a bit confused at first since it kind of looks like private property and is not marked as a trail head. There is a small stretch of gravel where I parked - if it was crowded, there wouldn't be more than 4 spaces there. However, I didn't see anyone on this trail the whole time I was out, ~1 hour (I didn't do the whole thing). The trail is a lovely mix of landscapes - towering trees, big rock formations, and sweeping views of Lake Tahoe - and had rolling ups and downs that were pretty easy on the knees (except for a steep climb at the start). The only thing that made me a little nervous was how deserted the trail was. I know that's exactly what a lot of people are looking for but I'm unfamiliar with typical wildlife of the surrounding area and felt like some of the landscape looked like it could be home to some bigger animals. I would have felt more comfortable with at least one more running buddy and a bit more knowledge about what to expect in the area. However, I didn't see anything and had such a great morning run experience - enjoy!

This trail is so much fun to run!

Well marked trail - easy to follow for a novice hiker like me, beautiful lake views and scenery.

What a great hike, loved going thru the forest with the different firs and pines. Ran into some snow and ice, but not that bad. Wild flowers on the lower elevations.

Super easy trail with great views of the lake.

Took my tweens on this day hike. It was perfect ! The views are awesome!

A great, smooth, easy trail with incredible views, meandering meadows, beautiful wildflowers, fun rock features, and was sparsely travelled when we were on it. Great hike for those with knee problems because there are next to no steps, just smooth trails.

The woods are pretty but this hike was boring and there wasn't a great view at the end... no payoff. There were a million mosquitoes too.

Epic view from the peak worth the climb

Loved the views! Awesome trail overall!

Good climb, quick DH. great views.

Fun
