One of my favorite hikes. Unbeatable views.

Was a nice & easy trail. Me, my husband, kids, & dogs had a nice hike. Will definately have to go back.

Nice hike. Easy to find the trailhead. The trail is well used and easy to follow. Already frost in the morning.

Awesome trail! Well worth the effort! My wife and I hiked it with our 3 daughters, 4, 8, and 10. Took just a hair over 2 hours to get to the peak. Absolutely breathtaking views. And the girls loved it. Best hike ever.

About 3 miles one way, with the usual detours. A beautiful little lake.

Beautiful views. I hiked in mid September and barely saw any other people on trail, granted it was a very windy day. The alltrails map just kind of ends, but the Tunnel Creek Trail continues. If you wanted to do the 4.7 round trip than you will have to just turn around mid trail. The trail is at a continuous mild to moderate incline...nothing intense.

Great trail, wonderful views, but it is not a Loop Trail. There is a small loop at the very top of the trail but that doesn’t make it a loop trail. We got a really good workout on this trail.

Great, gorgeous, trees, meadows !

*very nice hike.
*beautiful scenery, and great fun finding all five lakes.
*at the first lake a mama bear and her cub went for a swim.
*plenty of dog water too.

Beautiful hike! Elevation gain from the start all the way up! View from the top is spectacular!

Amazing hike. My Garmin clocked it at 4.5mi and about 1,400ft elevation gain...took us 3 hours round trip. Be prepared to climb - no rock scrambling but a lot of vertical starting at the trail head and going all the way up. Totally worth the work

The trail was nice and relatively easy. Itself the trail would only be 2-stars. The treat was coming across the soda spring and circa 1900 resort at Glen Alpine Springs with cabins and other buildings designed by Maybeck.

Good 5 mile hike out and back. Beautiful views with a lot of other hikers coming through. Overall increase in elevation was about 900 feet from the parking lot. Please don’t feed the grouse. A pair was calmly walked alongside us for 20 feet or so.

Hiked this as a day hike with some friends and the kiddos, ages from 6-14. All had a great time and loved it. It’s a relatively easy hike now the kids are older and would be a good hike for an overnight with kids to get them into backpacking. The trail does split of to the left fairly early on (about 1/2mile) along the small river with a fallen tree as bridge, at this point there were no markers to say where the trail went and could be a little confusing. Other then that the trail is easy to follow and really fun! Lake was cold and refreshing! Not too many beaches but enough rock to share. We’ll be back!

Walking on rocks the entire time, not very scenic. This has to be one of the worse in Lake Tahoe

I hiked this trail in July with a group of high school students of different levels of experience with the outdoors. The consensus was that it felt longer than 7.3 miles but it’s worth the effort. Take care crossing the road from the parking lot to the trailhead.
The highlight is jumping into the water and swimming out to the rocks across Lake Dardanelles. I later read that there are leeches but none of us encountered any. Pack plenty of water and snacks and lunch and make a day of it. It’s beautiful.

I like this hike as it is dog friendly. Traffic can range from light to heavy so if you’re a solitary hiker, it’s safe (use your own discretion). I easily found 3 of the 5 lakes but had trouble finding the other two. Sunscreen, a hat, and water are a must. I forgot my water bottle at the house and went ahead and did the full hike and was fine, but I don’t recommend it. I would have explored further had I packed it. My dog had a great time swimming in the big lake. Good for hikers of all levels.

this was an awesome trail and the lakes were awesome.

*bring lots of water.
*be mindful of many, many mountain bikers.
*very picturesque.

Great hike - challenging, but not unbearable. Great views!

This was definitely a hard hike going up... It is very steep almost the whole way. My asthma wasn’t having any of it. But we made it to granite lake and it was totally worth it. Gorgeous lake, and amazing views on the way up.

Hard incline (for an inexperienced hiker), but worth it for all of the views. The trailhead is through the campground, and there is parking for it there, but it fills up fast. You can also park across the highway at Inspiration Point, and a lot of people park along the highway.

Granite Lake is a great place to stop and cool down (I saw people swimming too). A lot of switchbacks before an awesome view of Maggie’s Peaks, but the way back is all downhill.

Make sure to wear good hiking shoes with good tread, I was slipping and sliding in my sneakers (not well prepared).

very nice. Because of the snow we couldn't see much beyond the first lake.
would love to go there when it's warm.

Really enjoyed this hike. we started at 9am to beat the heat and traffic. The views are amazing.

Lovely hike with beautiful views. Limited parking, so better to get there early. We didn’t think the mountain bikers were obnoxious, but it was nice to know we would encounter them along the way. Entire way there is uphill. We are averagely fit people, and it was a moderate hike for us. We’ll be coming back again!
