Beautiful trail and eagle lake is gorgeous. We had snow shoes and felt like it would have been very difficult in shoes without snow grippers minimum! (We are not accustomed to snow though)

HikingGreat!

I went on a Tuesday afternoon, I was the only person on the trail., very easy, the trail is completely paved, there is no shade so the summer time I could imagine would be very hot. there are 2 bridges my dog had a hard time walking over. There are also 2 caves to explore. It's a nice easy 7 mile round trip hike/walk.

Trail is beautiful. Easy on the way there. Moderate on the way back. Hikers do not care about covid to wear a face mask. I suggest hiking early in the morning

Great views on this hike. Crosses a small waterfall and there is a cave on the side of the trail. It’s steep at times and is mostly uphill on the way back, definitely tiring for me but I’m not used to all uphill. Very much worth it, just remember lots of water! It gets sunny on a good portion of the hike.

Beautiful trail. Well trafficked, packed snow most of the way until you pass Donner Lake. We did fine with crampons but others had snowshoes.

Beautiful trail, nice workout on the way back up, the river was clear and cold, not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. Would do again

Great hike! 75% cliff side with river view. Spent an hour at the creek. It was sunny and awesome. Hike back was not steep, moderate.

SnowshoeingGreat!Snow

Amazing trail- pretty minimal effort for the amazing views you get at the top. Picnic rock is a 360 view of Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas. You could probably manage with just micro spikes or yaktraks but I went with snowshoes and definitely recommend it... snow was packed in some areas but more powdery in others.

SnowshoeingGreat!IcyNo shadeSnow

Trail is packed snow, a bit icy. Totally doable with just micro spikes. Even just hiking shoes would be okay. Don’t need snowshoes unless going off the trail. Great trail, great views, not a lot of shade though so wear sunscreen and a hat. Happy trails!
