Randonnée facile ombragée très agréable avec très belle vue à l’arrivée.
This a beautiful trail that is well marked and full of lush vegetation. It is a fairly easy hike with a view that is absolutely breathtaking. It was a bit longer than what they have posted. It was more like 5 miles round trip. Looks like it can get pretty muddy in some spots, but we were lucky to have hiked it dry.
Beautiful!!
Pretty but it’s hard to follow after half way poi t. Zig zags back and forth across a stream that’s grown over
Amazing trail with a creek you cross several times and amazing views. Make no mistake, this is a difficult trail. Many trails on AllTrails, particularly at US national parks, will say difficult when they aren’t which gave me a false sense of ease. We are four in shape people who have done many hikes. There is a lot of quick altitude gain, often quite vertical (there are ropes set up for this, you do not need a guide as long as you can find the trailhead and don’t accidentally keep going to the waterfall). The downhill can be tricky. Only do this with appropriate footwear (I did it in loafers, because I underestimated it, and that was idiotic. Another guy destroyed his running shoes.) and bring lots of water. The final 25% is exposed. I brought four liters for two of us and I expected. It was not. Would have been better with 6 for us to share.
Challenging but distance makes it moderate
We hiked this trail in the morning of November 28. It was slow to start because of all the mud - you really need to watch your feet and concentrate. As we got about halfway through the ground levels kkkout a bit and you can pick up speed. Went through an incredible and unexpected bamboo forest. The toughest part is at the ends hen
Great view, little muddy. A trail you have to watch your step on with the roots but wow!!
Distance was almost 4 1/2 miles and took me two hours and 15 minutes. The trail was very muddy and slippery due to recent rains so in better conditions it probably wouldn’t take as long. Very pretty views at the top.
Extremely difficult . 5 miles total taking about half the day (5-6 hours). Breath taking views but very challenging.
Awesome hike but tough and a bit dangerous. The erosion is bad in a few spots and I almost tumbled down a cliff face a few times, but the views are great. Took us around 9 hours from Belvedere to the summit and back, with a few water/snack breaks along the way. Refuges are adequate if you come with mats, sleeping bags and food. There’s water at both refuges.
Very dangerous with erosion but amazing. Sadly didn’t finish.
Awesome views at the top and a very fun and adventurous hike! The dirt road to the trailhead from the main road is a rough one. As for the hike, once you cross the creek at the beginning it’s a very strenuous steep climb until you reach a valley and hike along the creek. Then you head back into a forested area and climb a bit more before reaching a clearing and the ridge. I went with my parents (who are in their late 50s but are very fit and active) and they almost wanted to quit part way up - definitely only for experienced hikers in good shape. Worth the work though! Also, the 2.2 mile distance is one-way. It’s 4-4.5 miles round trip depending on where you start and how far up you go.
Beautiful hike through the jungle. There are all sorts of cool plants and trees including a bamboo section. There are lots of roots and rocks covering the trail so it’s definitely a bumpy one. After you climb the switchbacks at the end you come to a clearing with beautiful views of lush green mountains and ocean.
This is definitely on the harder side — thé last half is switchbacks straight up and then some. You’re hiking through the jungle and bamboo forests to get to a beautiful view up top
We went on Thursday 8/13/2020. If you come now be mindful the trail is a bit muddy but mostly just at the top. There are also 2 small streams and some wet areas you need to walk over. Rocky and a lot of tree roots also. We would do it again just be aware of the potential challenges and be sure to where good hiking shoes. Very nice vistas of the north side of the island and you can also see the southern part of the island from the end of the trail lookout.
