I’ve done this trail from beginning to end and back again! A few times! I love all of it, the views are amazing and so are the trails and steps! It’s one that I will keep doing until I feel accomplished with my finish time, and even then, I will still do it because I personally like it!

Great trail for training for Spartan Races

Beautiful hike.

Nice beach but lots of sand flies. used to be 3 arches, now only one remains

The falls itself were very refreshing. As for the trail, we took a different route to the falls. Right off of freeway 80 in Auburn, we took Forest hill road which leads us to Lake Clamentine road. This is more hard than the normal trail as it loses elevation pretty quickly and coming back up is fairly hard, of course if you are on foot (and we were, and it was not fun coming back up!). There is parking right off of the falls but I think it is only for people who bring their boats, and it is small which fills up quickly on a weekend.

I do not recommend this trail for solo women.

I went biking on this trail midday on a weekday. I rode from ~ Del Paso Blvd to ~Capital City freeway and back.

Not only were there large groups of transient men congregating both adjacent to and in the middle of the trail, but I was followed on bike by a seemingly well-off guy who I believe was haunting the trail specifically for the purpose of following women. (He was a white male, medium athletic build, mid 30s-early 40s, blue cycling outfit, phone band on left arm, with brown mid length hair.)

I successfully got him to stop following me but the trail is so isolated and lined with dense vegetation that anything could have happened without a passerby noticing. I won't be going there again, not alone at least.

Absolutely stunning. BUT, I would not rate this as easy. To get to the top of the arch was tricky, the trail is dusty which makes it slippery, there are lots of roots sticking out that can trip you up. The trail is narrow with no protective barrier on the side that leads to quite a drop. There were frequently broken trees over the path that we had to climb over. We are fit so it wasn’t too hard but my parents had to stop before we could reach the end. I wouldn’t recommend this for small children either.
That said the views were stunning.

Very nice fairly easy hike. Lots of great side trails down to the river. Enjoyed a quick dip to cool off. It was very enjoyable and I will be back.

My favorite trail in SF

nice easy trail. nice scenery . water is clear and cool to jump in for a dip after your hike. easy walk for whole family. best do do early morning to have a an easy hike . highly recommended.

It is an enjoyable trail, I was a little disappointed to see vehicle traffic upon reaching the lake, access to the lake is almost non existant by foot. I will definelty take the hike to the swimming holes next time. Parking is pretty bad as well. That's to be expected. It is a beautiful area.

went and hiked around this area back in April of 2018. didn't get onto the bridge like I wanted, but still something to see.

Pretty view and steady elevation but kinda boring just walking so long with little to stop and explore the higher you go up the hill

Beautiful hike, uphill on the way in which I'm sure is why it's rated moderate. Beautiful views, wide trail- I will do it again in the cooler weather.

Disappointed trail turns into asphalt

If you’re not going Swimmin go elsewhere

Nice hike in San Francisco with beautiful views of Golden gate . I'm not sure if weekdays is busy as weekends . trail was pretty crowded for that Saturday but it defenetly worst that to see scenario views and do some cardio at same time .

Beautiful hike! It is moderate and goes around the bay :-)
Nice views of Golden Gate all the way. If you want to hike all the way to Golden Gate, you need to walk through BEAUTIFUL homes in SF! The one's which are like my Dream Homes! Oh well moving on, the hike is simple walk from the trail end to GG.

I would rate this hike as easy / moderate! Some elevation which is nullified by the beautiful views.

Northern half is very good with quite a bit of trees and shade down almost to the skate park. After that pretty exposed to the sun and hot. The part in the middle of town with 2 local parks is a little crowded with homeless but they were friendly.

Still one of my favorites!! Tried some new trails this year and finally got back to this one for the first time this season! It's perfect for all fitness levels. I usually run it and feel safe doing so. The bikers are courteous and usually make their presence known! It is pretty much all brown now, but still lovely. Half sun and half shade. Some poison oak, but the trail is clean, clear and well marked!

The hike is very beautiful with views of golden gate and fairly moderate trail with mostly flat terrain. We got there early(by 7.00 am) , so the parking was ample and the trail was less trafficked. The weather was just perfect for a hike.

Great views, not always clear and usually windy. Definitely a fairly easy walk and great for dogs.

Definitely come here early in the morning. Just went on July 15, and we were glad we got there early at 8:30. Got the trial to ourselves and made it down to Eagle’s point. We hung out for a bit and circled around to the Legion of Honors museum and made our way back down to the coastal trail. On the way back there were a TON of people. Glad we came early to secure parking and made sure we didn’t have to walk side by side with everyone else that just start the trail. Great scenes here and there for a quick photo with the bridge. Will come again soon, but a lot earlier to get the trails to ourselves.

Easy hike and absolutely stunning views. Spectacular trail since it is all the way by the river. Waterfall and rainbow are breathtaking. Will be back on Fall or Spring. In Summer I would say do early morning.

Jeremy and I hiked this trail and the views were spectacular! The Forest Hills Bridge is breathtaking and the river runs all along the trail making for great scenery. Clarke’s Pool was a bonus on the way back. Refreshing after being in the heat. Definitely returning for that! Nowhere did i see mentioned about the parking fee. Not a big deal but was unprepared to pay. Thank goodness they accepted Visa. Also, this app says dogs are not allowed on Clementine which is the lake behind the dam. “No dogs allowed” was also on the gate of the trailhead with dog poop bags right next to it. There were quite a few dogs on the trail and at the Pool. Not super clear about the furry ones being allowed or not. Great hike and swim!

Awesome morning hike. Stopped to cool off in swimming hole just east of Foresthill Bridge. Dog that was on shore with some folks swimming decided to leave his mark on my backpack which was unfortunate. Lots of places to explore along the rocky shore. Definitely doing this hike/swim again. *** Note: CA State Parks charges $10 to park along the roadway/park area. Booth is sometimes open and accepts credit cards, but bring cash in case.

My everyday lunch walk. Always beautiful.

Great views, stairs help with the steeper paths.

Way too narrow, over grown bushes, thorns, no foot traffic, only saw 2 bikers, lots of ticks & saw a huge RATTLE SNAKE that scared us away about 2 miles in. Not coming back.
