I've hiked this about a dozen times now. It was definitely tough figuring out the trail in the creek area the first time. It could certainly be marked better, but if you just accept that it's basically unmarked then you'll be better off. It's slightly dangerous for this trail to be marked for the first mile and then nothing, particularly down where it gets confusing. Anyway we love this trail, it's a great long hike that has beautiful areas and plenty of elevation changes to get your blood pumping.

Hiked 12/18. Nice variety of surface for easy to moderate hike. But little elevation change. Good tree coverage for hotter weather. Or to block wind. A creek crossing in two places that is higher than shoes and boots. And beautiful water fall area. Nice spot to stop for a while.
More isolated access off gravel forest road. Views mostly of trees and the two creek areas with one opening to expansive view.
Dog friendly
met 3 parties on trail
No restrooms at parking area or water

This place is incredible! You’ll get wet, but worth it if you get to see the Falls in all their glory!

Awesome trail amazing views

enjoyed the 60 degree Jan weather. lots of rain days before so all creek crossings were shin deep. water fall was spectacular as was the pools in the creek. haven't been in drier time but would assume you will always get wet feet at some time. there are other trails that branch off the main line that aren't shown on the map. definitely a great hike

Great trail. Easy to keep a good pace but can lack markings in places so be sure to have a good way to navigate. Great trail for an easy weekend backpacking trip.

One of my favorite trails in Arkansas. We started at Cripple Turkey on December 1st and ended at Allison on December 2. A lot of waterfalls and bluff outcroppings. I would definitely do this one again. The scenery was amazing.

This trail is so beautiful! It was our second visit to these trails. We were here back in the summer and I have to say the fall is a much better time to come. The rock formations are amazing! Be sure that you go down below and explore the caves near the pedestal rocks. They are so cool! I would like to see the forestry department field on the trail around the base of these two trails. There is just so much to see. There was lots of water flowing today. I definitely recommend these trails!

Really enjoyed this trip - hard to decide how to rate on difficulty though - easy roads most of it, but there are the creeks (I fell 3 times!) and it was really slippery getting to Big Creek Cave Falls...all of us there at the time (4) slipped down the hill a little. It's worth getting close, but be extra careful.

Been here several times. Love it every time

The trail is well marked and mostly flat. The trail surface if good and well suited for running or hiking. We did both the red loop and blue loop. There is some scenic views on the blue loop, however, most of the red loop you're in the forest...so not a lot of distant views.
We did a little over 5 miles between the loops. Overall easy due to being most flat.

Loved this trail. I hiked from Barkshed to Allison and was impressed by the scenery. Massive bluffs, rock outcroppings and formations much like you would see along the Buffalo River, only on a slightly smaller scale. Ended up camping at a great spot by a big bluff and possibly the smallest waterfall on Earth about 1.5 miles from Blanchard. I got a shuttle from Sylamore Creek Camp which works great just note they are located one mile from the trailhead. I would also add this is possibly the best marked trail I’ve been on.

Awesome trail. If you have time be sure to hike along the top of the bluffline to see Sam's Throne from a short distance on top, then hike the trail along the bottom of the bluffline to climb up on top to Sam's Throne

Solo hike, so the forest time gets boring. Views are nice. Lucky to have several streams flowing and the waterfall running at the edge of King’s Bluff.

Easy hike even if very poorly marked (marking the trail would at least give novice hikers an opportunity to learn). Lots of good fall foliage and trickles of water over the bluffs. A few small trails beginning at the very back of the campground road; those were better time investment (I’m fickle; I like the payoff). Day was cool and damp with thick fog impeding any view. But felt amazing at the top!

Fun trail! might be a little strenuous in some spots for beginners and if the water is up along with the rapids its a challenge to cross to the trail head safely, but a great day hike regardless! Seems like a great camping spot as well

Hiked this trail from Cripple Turkey trailhead to Allison Nov 4-6, 2018. It's a wonderful trail with massive sandstone bluffs rising from creek level. Higher up, the trail travels along the bottom of high bluffs. There are countless beautiful hollows and side creeks. The fall colors were spectacular. On this trip it had rained the day before and rained during our trip, so water was plentiful in the main creek and side streams. The entire trail was clear, well-maintained and not overgrown. The section from Cripple Turkey trail head is less used than the rest of the trail, so it is not as much of an obvious trail in some places.

This is a beautiful trail. I will edit this with track and pics soon.

Great trail with beautiful views. Starts off on a boardwalk by the shut ins, then becomes a nice switchback over some rocky terrain. Loops down the valley for a ways then ties in with the Ozark Trail for a short distance before heading back up and out a different way than it came in

We took our family of 9 and my parents on the Pedestal Rock trail. Trail was well maintained and the view was beautiful!

Beautiful trail featuring multiple creek crossings and swimming holes. But very overgrown with brush varying from ankle to waist high - perfect for ticks! Pulled over 150 ticks off me after hiking from from Allison to Gunner Pool. Got Lyme disease. Would not hike this trail again unless there is some serious trail maintenance.

10-2018- need plenty of time ands probably can't get to falls if water very high at richland campground. start early. 2.5 mile hike in. take ar 16 off 7.
