I would say for the average person this is a little bit on the difficult side. moderate in cooler Temps, harder in warmer months. be prepared with water and a camera. views are worth the effort.
Awesome hike! Pretty easy until the last part right before you get to the very top. We brought our 3 year old and to be honest it was a hard hike for him, especially coming back down. Lots of slipping! But worth it! The cave is amazing! We will do this hike again soon.
Paved trail with interesting information plaques. Steep up hill. Beautiful views of Roosevelt Lake from top.
Great hike! Rocky, climb starts 1/3 and gets steep last 1/3. Worth the trek.
Much harder than expected, fell twice going down, go slow. My 40 lb mutt could do it but would not recommend for bigger breeds.
Highly recommend!!
the hike start easy but at the end it get a lil hard. i was carring my 10 month but we made it. and also my 8 year old went with us. it was nice. but it got dark on us. Thank God we had lights. we also saw a baby snack
The trail was casual until the last part. But well worth it. There is no longer a sign pointing to the wave cave. But follow the white arrows painted on rocks and it will lead you the way. Rewarded hike at the end
Beautiful as always. The arboretum is constantly making improvements
Awesome
Go through the fence area with the state signs.
Great hike, good for whole family!
Beautiful!
Great sunrise hike!! Very uphill at the end. Crowded on the way back down after sunrise.
It’s 5 miles don’t trust all trails
First 3/4 of the trail is pretty easy and has little incline. The last 1/4 has a heavy incline and you’ll have to scramble and bear climb up. The view is beautiful and well worth the climb though.
Very fun, bring water lol. Easier going down than up. Bring good shoes bc there are lots of loose rocks. The cave at the end was WORTH IT We also saw cows on the drive up
Everyone loved the cave at the end of the trail. My 7 year old made it the whole way with no problem. My 6 year old had to turn around after the first mile because it was getting too steep for her to enjoy it. Very steep for that last half mile, especially coming down. We got there at 8:45am on a Friday and there was plenty of room in the parking lot. Trail wasn’t too crowded, so based on other reviews saying how crowded it gets on weekends, I’d do it again on a weekday, early. The cave has a lot of nice shade & space, would be a great place to enjoy lunch.
Went to hike this and thought the trail was closed at the barbed wire so we went on the flat trail at the base of the mountain. On the way back past we realized there was actually a gap in the fence and we could have gone up. Also you need a permit to hike and the cell service is quite spotty. Get your permit before heading out.
View was so worth it! Mostly the whole hike is all rocks and up, so get your legs ready. As for the markings we couldn’t find the trail thinking the wire was blocking all of it, but there is a little walk path through and parking is very little. Gladly in the end we found the trail and it was worth it!!
Great morning for a little get away!
Painted arrows on the trail boulders are retarded!
loved this trail, but was very busy!
Despite the lack of trailhead signage the parking lot was overflowing. Was overcast for the ascent which was strenuous and well worth the effort. The cave was everything and more than worth the effort. The mystique of the legends of Superstitions was the icing on the cake.. We are in our 60-70+ age range.
