Excellent loop, hard to beat for something so close to the city center. Trail was a bit icy so be sure to bring some spikes during winter months. A few trails branch off of the east side of the loop, looking forward to exploring those on future visits.

Beautiful park.

Best Kept Secret in the Bend City Park System - especially for bird watching and old growth forest & must if you visit in Central Oregon

Amazing experience! Hiked the longer trail, in and back, from the Todd Lake parking lot. We had blistered feet, ran out of water and said we would never hike the long trail again. But do plan to do the whole thing again, to introduce family, in 2019. The beautiful meadows, streams and wildflowers on the lower portion are just too hard to pass up.

We couldn’t make it to the trailhead by 1 mile because the snow was too thick. 4WD required. We will try again!

Fun little hike! Awesome river, lots to look at.

My favorite hike so far in the PNW. We had perfect weather and snow is about 1 inch right now depending on the area may be deeper. 100% need a high clearance vehicle. We had to rescue someone who took their Mazda and couldn’t make it out. Spend the night in their car. I believe this road closes first week of December

Super cool loop. Can tell why this would be a great place to walk your dog if you're a local. But if you're looking for views and a good hike go elsewhere, lots of better views in this area!

I really like this trail. Just the right amount of challenge and spectacular views!! It was a little brisk when we started. The wind picked up a little too. Definitely pack layers. You’ll see a sign saying “end of the trail” but there is another 2 1/2 miles of trail to explore. Gorgeous back there with some steeper inclines. Worth the extra time. Broken Top seems to be in reach when you go all the way back.

Beautiful walk along the river.

Great views at the top. Good reminder for us to get back in shape!

Did this loop clockwise. The climb to Moraine lake junction is more gradual this route. Enjoyed the scenery and felt like we had the trail to ourselves. It was a clear day but windy so that made it pretty cold. Went down to Moraine lake as well. Beautiful day.

Amazing day for a Fall hike! 70 degrees You could not ask for a better hike this time of year.

Felt longer than 5 miles to me today but it was lovely
Beautiful views!

Amazing trail. Beautiful day this past weekend 10/14 but my goodness was the wind howling. Strong enough to make you have to lean into it. Every step is worth it. Multiple different ways to get to this lake/mountain. The 5 mile trail head is definitely treacherous and would highly recommend a high clearance vehicle. Plenty of rocks on the road that would destroy most vehicles. One of the best hikes I recall and possibly my favorite in Oregon.

We did the loop, perfect for a beautiful October afternoon. the quiet forest and occasional glimpses of Tumalo Creek made for a lovey afternoon saunter.

It was just okay. The signage vs the trail on here showed different hikes so we ended up on the Moraine trail.

The end of the trail head has fantastic views and is one of the best spot to see the sunrise in the Bend. There is photo opportunities galore. The majority of the trail is not too windy, but the top has strong wind chill so bring layers if the temperature is low.

I did not extend the hike to Broken Hand, but will be making this hike next year with that plan in mind.

This trail was amazing! So much diversity in the scenery. The wind was STRONG and cold when we went. The views were incredible. With two bad knees I felt challenged but not beyond my scope. You can take the "unmaintained" portion pretty much straight to Broken Top if you push a bit further. completely worth it. WOW.

This was my favorite hike of all time. Did it in mid September and only wish I had hiked in my tent so I could sleep on the edge. The weather can turn nasty VERY quickly so be mindful of time of year. I took my AWD SUV up the road and it wasn't that bad - just be mindful of tire placement. Tacomas were passing me like a little wuss but that's ok. :) Absolutely beautiful spot.

We loved this trail, went further than the sign the read "end of trail" towards Broken Top.

Beautiful ride, especially in the fall! Rode the Fall River/Deschutes loop.

One of the best intermediate hikes in Central Oregon...I’ve enjoyed the lake in the summer for paddle boarding as well...

It is a great place to walk with the water along the trails, and also to enjoy that cover bridge . Please go before bridge is taken down.

Hiked mid-September. Awesome HIKE, spectacular views of the mountains. No bugs this time. You do gain some elevation, but the views are well worth it. VERY popular hike, so don't expect to have the trail to yourself, even Mid-week. There were 20+ cars at the trailhead when we arrived at 10am. Remember to fill out a free hiking pass at the trailhead; turn in part of it & keep part of it on you when doing this hike. Enjoy!

Absolutely beautiful hike with a huge payoff. Do not drink the creek water on the way up, as there are dead elk in the lake.

Unfortunately I lost a wedding band/ engagement ring somewhere between the lake and the parking lot on September 11th. Please let there be good in the world!

Great hike. There are certain steep bits but overall it isn’t too bad. The end of the hike marked on the map is nice, but if you want great views continue along the unmaintained trail along the ridge. There’s spectacular views of broken top and no name lake at broken foot an additional 1.5-2 miles further.

have taken different trails here. we've taken Cougar Trail and it's a fav

I did this hike in mid August while I was down visiting my brother in Bend. The difference in elevation compared to where I’m from definitely kicked my butt a little, but it was totally worth it! The lake is stunning and heading up to the very top is absolutely worth the extra 20 minute walk up! If I had better balance or it was slightly less windy I would have loved to have walked along the ridge for a while too.
