What a great little hike! Got to the trailhead about 8am on a Sunday and saw no one on the trail, must have been lucky!

Pretty and easy trail with a beautiful waterfall and view.

My first real hike in the San Juans. Gorgeous.

Gorgeous winter hike. Tough with the extra mileage due to the road closure. Definitely bring snow shoes.

Great little winter hike. We went the extra half mile to Lost Lake. In the winter you can't park at the trailhead so that adds about a half mile as well. No snowshoes required but yaktraks are nice!

beautiful place to go.

Good view, the roads closed so it’s about a 10-20 minutes walk to the trail head.
Fairly trafficked trail even in the winter so I’d leave your snow shoes at home, yaktraks with hiking boots is sufficient, some parts of the trail are icy.

always a lovely hike!

Good exercise, cools ruins, lots of people... took the Parmalee loop for little more quiet

Very nice hike. Some snow pack this time of year.

Super fun! Can be really rocky in some places and to get to the water fall you gotta do some climbing. Totally worth it. Perfect for summer or winter, definitely one of my favorites. Not to much snow on the trail right now, no microspikes needed.

A good trail for a quick hike. Can get a bit crowded after lunch. The river water is clean and wind is minimal.

My favorite trail! So much beauty.

One of my favorite trails! I wish I had more time to explore. Will come back again for sure!!

My husband and I tried this trail for the 1st time on 12/7/17. Mostly clear of snow and ice, the downhills weren’t all that bad but if it was wetter it could be bad in spots. We really enjoyed it and plan to do it with snowshoes or at least try it.

We did almost 11 miles hike to Lake Isabelle from entrance. Road is closed leading to the trailhead. You will have to park at winter parking lot by the side of entrance booth. That adds almost 5-6 miles to the Long Lake Trailhead, depending on if you take the road or take side trails. I didn't have microspike, and had to be careful with icy conditions, was not too bad. But I would recommend getting Microspike. We started from Parking lot at 6:45 in the morning, and we were back by 1PM. Lake Isablle is mostly drained, frozen remains at the center. It was very windy and chilly so please prepare yourself for the weather. Saw Frozen Long Lake, Frozen Brainard Recreation area on our way up. Views are very gorgeous. We didn't find anyone going on the trail when were were going up, maybe because we were early. But saw few people ascending when we were descending.

could not access the trail.. the road was about 8 miles of 4wd snow covered road. beautiful out there though !

Especially gorgeous hike right now with all the snowfall. From the parking lot round trip my iPhone recorded an 11.5 mile trip. Make sure you bring plenty of warm gear and wear gaiters!

Great for kids. Our 3 kids (2, 4, 6 yoa) walked whole way there with no trouble, if you’re patient with little ones. Once got to top of falls had to supervise more. Extra 5 min walk to reservoir was very scenic. Will come back.

Freakin awesome once you get there.

Gorgeous area. Savage peak just dawns over you, and the lakes are beautiful. I camped here, and if you plan to do the same, keep in mind that much of the year it can be somewhat swampy and if you don't get there early you're options for a dry camping spot are pretty limited.

One of the most beautiful vistas I’ve seen.

Great hike for Kids! Creek, waterfall, boulder for simple climbing, mud, beach and lake.

So awesome. This was the first hike I did after moving to Colorado. Was perfectly suited for someone not used to the altitude and was absolutely gorgeous!

Gorgeous hike! FYI the road to the nearest parking lot is closed, so that adds about 4 miles on to the total distance. Parts of the trail were icy but we managed without any extra gear. Beautiful at the top!

Such a beautiful and easy hike! Loved every second of it. First time visiting Colorado and this hike is now my top I’ve done! Loved the snow on the ground and perfect weather!
