Quite the calf burner, but made for an incredible first time hike. The views are worth the grind up to the top. Couldn't imagine walking this during snowfall or heavy rain due to downed trees in parts and narrower paths. All in all a nice gem of a hike.

Beautiful view! We brought our dog. Didn’t know they weren’t allowed. We saw others as well. Beautiful view! Challenging snowshoe, totally worth it!

As someone who isn’t from here, I was bummed that nobody mentioned the lake gets drained in the winter so it’s mostly dirt there currently, but it was a great hike nonetheless and the view of Mt Jefferson is incredible. No snow, and saw families with small children and kids on the way out and back. Took my 12 year old dog on this and she got tired from the incline on the way up but was fine after we hung out at the top for about 10 minutes and we were able to get back to our car in half the time it took to get up the mountain. Definitely would do again when it’s warmer out and the lake is full

Beautiful hike with an amazing view, especially on a clear day. I would highly recommend this hike.

Easy to find, clear trail, beautiful view. Hiked in winter and snow coverage was not foreboding.

Beautiful hike up and back (overnight). Will be doing this one again.

Great snowshoe trail! Though it says no dogs, plenty of responsible dog owners were on the trail. Beautiful view from the top!

Be cautious with parking at the base - some no parking signs are not apparent and we got a ticket today:(

Took the Porcupine Loop trail for snowshoeing. It was spectacular. Signage was off so we missed the new warming hut, but the trip really was breathtaking. Get a map that shows the loop (and not just the main trail which is for cross country skiing) and your golden. This is supposed to be a heavily used area but we only bumped into 2-3 other parties for the whole thing. Not bad at all. Easy to get to, well groomed trail.

We couldn’t make it to the trailhead by 1 mile because the snow was too thick. 4WD required. We will try again!

Great hike! Amazing views from halfway to the top. Lots of doggos, so keep them on a leash, but other than that really not too busy for the first saturday in November!

Great hike, moderate incline and well maintained smooth trail. Little parking lot with no toilet. Stunning 360* views if you can climb up a short steep trail at the top. Beautiful view of mt. jefferson

Went this last weekend. Nice family hike. Recorded 4.5 miles round trip. Some ice on the trail but no snow and very cool iced up trees landscape at the top. Super cold and windy at the top as well. Heavy traffic.

One of my favorite hikes in Oregon that often gets overlooked. The view from the top is always worth it. Easy hike, well maintained trail and dog friendly.

As spectacular as everyone says. Passed no more than 15 or so people in both directions with long stretches of solitude including at the lake itself. Conditions: Cascade Lakes Highway clear (from Bend) except for one snowy/icy hill just west of Mount Bachelor. Trail clear for first mile or so, packed snow for the next two (not slippery), some icy hills in the final stretch -- enough that I put on traction for the trip down. Tentative road closure date is 11/19 so enjoy this trail now!

My dog and I LOVED this trail.

Best hike I’ve ever been on. Went in August on a really hot Smokey day and it was cool. Walked next to a creek almost the entire way and took a dip in the lake at the top.

This a great hike for all levels. I would call the loop “easy” for hikers considering you go by at least 10 waterfalls, if not more counting the little ones. This is a must do hike!

We hiked the first half and saw 3 or 4 falls. We hiked out and back to same way. I carried our small dog in a carrier. We loved it!

I really like this trail. Just the right amount of challenge and spectacular views!! It was a little brisk when we started. The wind picked up a little too. Definitely pack layers. You’ll see a sign saying “end of the trail” but there is another 2 1/2 miles of trail to explore. Gorgeous back there with some steeper inclines. Worth the extra time. Broken Top seems to be in reach when you go all the way back.

Great views at the top. Good reminder for us to get back in shape!

Beautiful trip! This map is from Trailbridge/Blue Pool trailhead to Coldwater Cove. Coldwater is closed after Labor Day, so You’ll have your pick of car camping sites, which is a welcome sight after the hike up the river. The distance is 16+ miles total if you go all the way to cold water cove. The second mile is the toughest due to serious crowding and rough lava rock trails. Once you make it to the Carmen reservoir at the 6th mile you can take the waterfalls trail, which is tougher and more crowded, but worth it on the way back if you can catch it early in the morning. After blue pool, Carmen/Waterfalls is the first place to get water, and last good place before you get to Clear Lake.

I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with this hike. The most effort that I had to put into it was getting parking. The waterfall was at the beginning and you didn't have to walk far from the parking lot to see it. There were mountain bikers everywhere and at time made it difficult to get past them on the narrow parts of the trail. They were even in areas the the signs said they weren't allowed. This made it hard to enjoy the trail. As beautiful as the waterfall was, I prefer to work to get to it, not walk 1 minute from where I parked.

Amazing day for a Fall hike! 70 degrees You could not ask for a better hike this time of year.

Absolutely beautiful trail. Didn’t make it all the way to the lake, but lovely by the creek all along the way. Gently sloping, not very technical.

Very well maintained trail with lots of picturesque scenery, including the river, waterfalls, forest, open space with obsidian boulders and of course - lakes and Mountain View’s. Went over Labor Day weekend, lots of other hikers but not crowded. The hike in was 2 hours. We took a 30 minute break to snack and take in the scenery then hiked out, which took 1.5 hours. Would recommend.

gets crowded, but great payoff

This an amazing trail which eventually will take you to broken top trail or green lakes trail (both of which are also fantastic trails). Windy as all heck when I went but you hike right down the sight of broken top mountain and some beautiful old growth most of the trail with beautiful views more than half the time.

Hard for me to completely rate this trail fairly. Started out hiking at 11p so it was pitch black. Very cold that night and to make matters worse once we got to the lakes the wind decided to get crazy. If I was to guess sustained 15mph with gusts all night up to 40. Powerful enough to have branches fall on our tent. In the morning the lakes were pretty but again very very cold mostly due to the wind. We did a loop with soda creek trail back to the trail head and decided to forgo no name lake that night given how windy it was the previous night at a lower elevation. The lakes were definitely pretty and so was the western side of broken top and the eastern end of sisters. Great overall trail system in this region no doubt.
