Nice and easy nature trail. Great for families with little kids.

oh yeah we found small pools of water knee high. but it's up river through a rough climb. and a 1/2 inch layer of ice on top of the water. freeeezing cooooold....

it's the second time I hike on this trail. it's beautiful and a great place to find peace. just pace yourself especially if you have little ones, my kid struggles on the last climb getting back to the car. I'll be honest, I don't look forward to it, but it's always in the back of my head when I plan to go. but I love a good challenge, if you do too, enjoy....

It looked as though they were getting ready for a controlled burn. Lots of burn piles were prepped. Easy trail to hike with dogs and kids. Best park was probably the California Wildland Firefighters Memorial we visited at the end.

Great little hike with the dogs- unfortunately, there is still no water as of 12.30.18

Beautiful walk in the snow!

Positives: If you have kids or elderly family members wanting to enjoy a simple outing with some picture worthy views, hit this place up. They've got a decent parking lot as well as picnic tables & bathrooms, & everything is reasonably accessible on this super short loop.

Negatives: After hiking both Stonewall Peak & Volcan Mountain in the same day, this trail was increadibly anticlimactic, only taking us 10mins of sauntering along to complete it. That, & there were rowdy children EVERYWHERE. So I'd say if you want a challenging, romantic, or peaceful hike without getting trapped between giant family groups, steer clear of this one. Haha.

Fun hike, no water as of 12/09/18 even with the rain earlier in the week.

Fun short walk to a fantastic view and cool faux pipe telescope with a mountain/peak key.

It would be better if you allowed bikes.

Easy trail. Very pretty views. Lots o benches for resting if needed.

peaceful, beautiful views

A nice and easy nature walk fit for all ages. You may be greeted by people who maintain the trail and they are ready and willing to give you a small tour or supply you with a fun fact. Before entering, you can pick up a guide that explains the significance of the trail markers which makes it a fun and educational activity for the whole family.

Also, make sure to bring your Adventure Pass to park here.

Extremely short hike with an incredible view over the valley/gorge. Lots of picture worthy points and bring water during the hike

Perfect weather if you start at about 730am. We finished at 1130am walking at a moderate pace, stopping to take pictures here and there. Creek beds are all dried up this time of year. Water was only found in a select few places. Best views were of the valley as you're driving in.

Very short and easy trail. Very pretty, but be careful of falling pinecones. The animal foot prints were very cute. It says no dogs, but it was a dog ok trail. We did see dogs there. Definitely will go there again.

Easy, shady trail. Not long but beautiful and educational. Great for families with small children.

This is more of a walk, with a paved path. It's a very pleasant walk and changes with the seasons. I've walked this in the rain and it was great! nice coverage through one third of the walk.

It's really nice, well kept up, densely forested, easy stroll with clean bathrooms, and nicely tagged scrubs, trees, wild flowers, ground cover, etc.. It's right on Hwy 18 with big parking lot. It's a great place to stretch. A tourist delight. Brochures galore at the trail head, free.

Excellent usually but warning, closed for fire today 7/14/18 3PM

Nice trail for a short walk. The path is narrow, so be prepared to keep any dogs on a short leash.

The water at the end of the trail was all dried up which as big bummer. Also- while the trail is easy down along the river, I would say it is more moderate to difficult, especially with young children, because it’s straight down and straight back up out of the valley.

Short walk in pretty area. Note, you need a nature pass to park here.

We were very disappointed that there wasn’t any water in the canyon. The hike, albeit short, was very steep for about half a mile and our older Labrador had a tough time getting back up. Only ran into a couple other people all afternoon. If there were water, this hike would be great!

Awesome trail for beginners.

A little short, but perfect for jogging with your dog.
