it was a bit busy for our liking but still a wonderful time

My favorite is early spring when falls are mostly still frozen to late spring with lots of wildflowers. muddy in spring past the falls but great for kids.

Open today, August 13. It is a flat, shaded trail—nice on a hot day like today. You can add on miles by running from Minnehaha Falls area, Minnehaha Creek, etc.

Great trail— the State Park website says it’s open again. Any reports on if this is true?

Great trail loop! I have used it for runs before as well

Dogs on Leash is false. More the fault of the app than the Park. They have a Dog Park that dogs are allowed off leash which doesn’t do any good for those who don’t want other dogs running up on theirs. The main hiking trails do not allow dogs at all.

Great trails with lots of diversity. Harriet is quiet and shaded. Calhoun is loud and busy. Lakes of the Isles is open and has a dog park. My favorite is Lake Harriet where I “forget” that I’m in the city.

Beautiful trail, the bluffs are fun but i thought the maps weren’t very clear. Dogs ARE okay if they are leashes. Would definitely do this loop again :)!

Well maintained trails , easy to get into trail running and hiking, good views and cover

Nice paved path around the lake, perfect for a walk with the dog. The majority is tree-covered, which provides nice shade but may require bug spray depending on humidity, time of day, etc.

I loved the trails and bridges! The maps on the trails made it easy to navigate and the views were a great escape from the city life.

Trails are not easy to navigate by using the maps provided. However, it is a loop...so you’re not lost.

A beautiful nature preserve in the city. A true enclave. You wouldn’t guess a ski hill is on the other side of the hill. Really well manicured mulch trail, yet natural surroundings. Also a great outdoor play area for the kids made out of natural materials, and by “play” area I do not mean swing-sets.

Good hike in well maintained trails. Mostly shaded. Can get buggy if trails are wet. The waterfall is the main attraction and can get very busy. Shallow enough so kids can play in the stream. I liked the hiking sections in the south part of the park. It’s actually across the road from the visitors center. I would come back in the spring for the wildflowers.

Path is in very good shape. Reasonable traffic.

Great, well-marked trail. The waterfall is easy to access and great for wading and playing. Easy hiking, even for younger kids. There are a lot of dogs on the trail. We found a leech after playing in the water.

Decent trails, well-marked and maintained. Lots to choose from- you can really hike as little or as much as you want. Good for running. The main attraction seems to be the waterfall, the rest of the trails are standard forest hikes it seems.

This trail (set of Tamarack, Aspen, Oak) is a very strange(?) experience. The good part is that it is one of the very quiet places you can be, and enjoy nature in its truest sense. The lake views are excellent, there are signs to guide at every junction, so getting lost is very difficult. On the other hand, be prepared for bugs and insects, they WILL swarm you. It might also give some the "spooky" experience since its very quiet around here

A great trail for walks in the hot weather with your dogs. Most of the trail is shade and is very easy. There are very nice wooden bridges around the lake in great condition to get you over the wet spots. There are a few benches to rest on along the way. We took the short trail and it was just over an hour with two small beagles in 88 degree weather. The trail is well marked at all the intersections and the signage in excellent condition. As always bring bug spray. We will be back soon to try the longer loop soon.

So many memories! Did the whole thing

Good trail - steps in parts so don’t bring a stroller (or anything else you wouldn’t want to carry at times)

Great time but could have the trails marked better so you didn’t have to keep asking people where to go.

Very nice trail with picnic tables along the way. The trail is maintained very well with signage along the way. We had our two beagles with us and they loved it. Even on a Sunday there is very little traffic. We crossed a horse or two along the way but that was it. Very nice route.

Great trail with some variety in terrain, incline. Nice view of Jensen Lake—water lily blooms were ready to pop!

I should have turned around as soon as you hit the tree line and the flies started to swarm...but I didn’t. I understand I’m outside, and bugs are part of the deal - but this was absurd. Swarmed by 10? 20? Flies around my head the entire time. Absolutely miserable. Couldn’t enjoy the beautiful park/trail because I had flies divebombing my eyes the whole time.

Attempted this June 30th 2018, couldn't get onto it due to flooding. It looked great on the other side :D

Great trail to take the kids

Clean. Beautiful views

The trails are in decent shape but could use some more upkeep. It is a great place to take a hike in the woods without having to go too far out of Burnsville (if you live locally). But, the trail maps are not helpful and it can be easy to get turned around if you aren't careful.

Nice, easy one hour loop walking trail. Lots of places to stop along the way if you'd like. I was most impressed by the trail markers and maps. Very easy to follow and plan your hike by following the numbers on the trail map markers.
