Hike was easy with limited moderate spots. Just beautiful but what can I say, it is Tahoe! Go early to secure a parking spot.

just beautiful.

Third time we have been on the trail over the past twelve years. Love it! Serenity up in the mountains.

Gorgeous hike. There are now portapotties at the parking lot but they are pretty gross. Bring your own TP.
Nice lollipop if you take the alternate trail to Relay Peak Road and loop around that way back to the trailhead. Really nice hike through wildflower meadow. There is a small pond for a dip/wade - the dogs we passed were loving it.

Gorgeous. I went for a trail run and was happy with how runnable it was. Well marked

Perfect loop. Did it clockwise today. Brought the wife and dog along. Goodtimes. A mountain biker was having a bite to eat at dry pond and noticed a decent sized bear about 50 yards away. Walking towards him. He packed up his stuff and jammed down trail towards whites creek. All in all. A beautiful day. A bit smoky but well worth it. The dog had a blast splashing around in the water along the way. Walking through the aspens along the water was probably my favorite part.

Great family hike. Takes about 30 minutes

A short hike to a beautiful lake to swim in.

Really great if youre looking for a challenge for a beginner hiker!

Nice hike. Easy for the most part. I did this hike on 8/4. it was very smoky that morning but by the time I got up to the start of the hike which was just under 9000 feet the smoke wasn’t really affecting me but it did affect the views.
It does start to incline shortly after the waterfall but no steep parts. its a pretty gradual incline even the switchbacks aren’t very steep. only difficulty really is elevation if your not used to it.
it was super windy at the top. about a half mile before I got to the summit the wind gusts were so strong they nearly knocked me off my feet a few times.
but once you get to the summit there are some rocks you can sit behind which blanket from the wind. if there wasn’t so much smoke it would’ve been a beautiful view. total hike took just under four hours that was with the rest stops to take pictures and lunch at the summit.

Easy hike to waterfall but not so easy to the summit, beautiful and worth it!

Loved it! It took us about 30 minutes to get to Eagle Lake and about 20 to get back down. It is a little strenuous in the beginning with lots of steps to climb but it’s a good, quick workout. The lake was warm enough to get into it and truly a hidden gem! It would be fun to take inflatable paddle boards and spend some time on the lake itself.

Excellent trail! Easy start to warmup and then kicks up at waterfall around 2.5 mile mark. Last mile is a beast but very rewarding.

It’s very smokey now. Air is dirty and views are limited. Hopefully better very soon.

Great little hike with a great swimming lake at the end.
Parking is problematic as the Emerald Bay hi way traffics terrible.

Awesome trail. The meadows are amazing. We had a gallon and a half of water between three and it was enough, but we didn't go all the way to the top.

This hike was beautiful! Lots of Incline in the beginning but I took my time to enjoy the view. The lake was breathtaking. It was such a treat to swim in the lake. Bring water shoes if you plan to walk into the lake.

Made for a great afternoon hike

We hiked to and above the waterfall. The wildflowers were pretty, especially in the meadow trail near the waterfall (direction of Mt. Rose Summit). Lots of hiking options from the trailhead. The hike was easy/moderate. The terrain was chaparral, some trees, but not a forested area.

Great hike overall. The first 3.5ish miles are pretty level and pleasant to hike along. It's a little after the waterfall that the incline begins and then it's a mostly uphill hike the rest of the way. The incline never gets too bad though. Views from the top are great, even with the smoke from the fires.
Bring lots of water. There's lots of parking at the trailhead, just be mindful that the restrooms are closed (for maintenance).

A family favorite for many years. It never fails to delight. The granite peaks to the north against a deep blue sky are a sight I look forward to each time we hike this trail.

This hike involves waterfalls, wildflowers, and butterflies. There are beautiful views the entire walk. Restrooms are not available at the trailhead. We needed more water than we normally do on this sunny July day. We saw others that were out of water as well.

Great hike with beautiful wildflowers and butterflies. It took about 4.5 hours with 30 min up on the summit (plus 1.5mile detour to explore).
And restrooms at trailhead are closed, so plan accordingly :)

What a great adventure to take your family on during a day off! Make sure you arrive very early for easier parking! We went on a Monday and there were still an abundant amount of people, literally hundreds on the trail but every single person we met were friendly. I took my Fiancé and German Shepard, what a blast we had.

The trail is very dog friendly and quite a few people brought their extra family member on the trail. There are some steep parts so if uphill is a challenge for you normally watch out for it. A lot of beautiful spots to take pictures and videos with scenery. I will bring a tripod and a go pro next time for the most experiences.

The end result was fantastic with the beautiful Eagle Lake. Some people were fishing and swimming, others were relaxing in the water or shore. The lake was well worth the time it took finding a parking spot.

The last mile to the summit was the hardest and the winds near the top were relentless, but the view was amazing at the top and so was the view along the whole trail. Lots of wildflowers and butterflies. The waterfall is a great destination for someone who doesn't want to hike all the way to the summit. Make sure to hike to the top of the waterfall for a great view too. The restrooms at the trailhead were closed.

as others have said, it's a leg workout for sure ! however the trail is mostly smooth sand/soil and easy on the feet. the views are spectacular and the feeling serene. I went on a Sunday and saw maybe a dozen courteous mountain bikers and 3 other hikers. trail head parking lot is small so I parked about 3/4 mile down the road at the beach area. also -the last little section of the "loop" after you go around the lake is a bit vague on this map (the red line) they have it paralleling the blue dotted bike trail. I just ended up walking the bike trail because it's easier to find.

Great views and dog friendly

Great peaceful hike... wild flowers in full bloom. The trip to the top was moderate but definitely doable. Bring water. Nice breeze at the top. The view was amazing!

Totally amazing trail! This was our first hike in about 5 years and we are not in the best shape (getting back into hiking is part of our get back into shape plan). This hike is perfect if you want to push it pretty hard but don’t want something crazy hard.

Awesome views. A bear crossed the trail in front of us on the way back down. The hike to the lake is easier than the nearby Bayview trail to Granite lake.

Beautiful hike. Our family did it on July 10, 2018 and the kids (11yrs and 6yrs) loved it. We got there by 9:00am so the trail wasn’t too crowded. We hiked around to the right side of the lake and it was so quite and peaceful. The water was clear and cold. I definitely recommend this hike.
