Fun trail! Good for a day hike for the whole family. Mostly wide walking trails, marked very clearly, great views with the smell of spruce trees the entire way. This trail should be deemed "easy" not " moderate"

Had a lot of fun with our dog (kept her on leash). Went past the 7th bridge up a bit more towards Jones park but didn’t quite make it. Will definitely come again.

Great hike that only takes a couple hours to complete. Not too challenging for beginners and, as others have said, the view is well worth the climb.

Trail was somewhat difficult to follow - not many signs to let you know if you were on the right track after trail forks. Lots of shade. Last portion was fairly steep but the views were worth it. Be careful as most hikers we encountered did not leash their dogs on this trail.

Soooooo, we didn’t make it to the trail because there was no mention of how horrible the road to the trailhead was. Wouldn’t recommend driving a small car, sedan or sports car because the road is full of potholes, rocks, uneven bumps and did I mention huge rocks sticking out of the road. So will review again when we returned with a proper vehicle.

It was so fun! We went too late and didn’t make it to the waterfall, we didn’t want to get stuck in the dark! We will be going back but earlier next time.

will definately do it again.

very well maintained trail. Great camp spots just down from the old miner buildings with great water supply. I hiked in another few miles and was able to use a small creek in a very secluded area. some spectacular views when you hiked off trail and onto rock. a little hot last week.

Even though the flow of the falls was a bit low, it was still beautiful and the overall view of Colorado Springs and surrounding mountains was absolutely breathtaking at the end of trail. I agree with some of the other posts that the trail is not well marked, however. We had to back track to the last stretch when we missed the ascent to the left that was only marked off by a large branch and some rocks. Hikers from out of town may just see that as a fun natural obstacle, as I did. Even with that though, this was still our favorite hike; more awe inspiring than Seven Bridges Trail.

Great views! Definitely worth the hike and the tower stairs. Lots of nice spots to rest, and also some great rock overlooks.

However, the last 9 miles of the road to the trailhead are a very bumpy washboard so, be prepared.

Also, it was very busy today - lots of families and dogs. Perhaps a bit too crowded for me and definitely a bit too groomed, including benches along the way, for my taste.

All said and done, a very nice and rewarding couple of hours. A great place to introduce Colorado newbies!

nice little hike and beautiful falls

My tracker placed the hike at 6.7 miles. It's pretty and offers nice mountain views along the way. But way too many people fail to clean up after their dogs. Be careful as you walk this trail.

I’ve hiked this trail many times...nice moderate trail if you’re in good shape and acclimated to elevation. There is some decent rock scrambling coming and going to the second lake, where you need good shoes and solid footing. I wouldn’t take small children or out of shape friends to the second lake. We saw 19 mountain goats on the hike...a herd of 13 on way to second lake, which was spectacular! Also saw around 10 marmots sunning themselves on rocks along the trail. Please leash your dogs so you don’t spook the wildlife or get your dog injured!

I would say this is more moderate hard. the last mile or so was kind of difficult. the top is definitely worth it tho and there is another lake if you keep going. saw some mountain goats as well. cool waterfalls along the way. you can park right up by the trailhead which I recommend otherwise the first two miles is hiking along a dirt road.

Great hike with lots of good stopping points! Mostly shaded which I can appreciate! Dogs were all on leash which was impressive. The view from the top was amazing & the stairs were not bad at all!! Coming from a 6 month pregnant lady!!

Hot hike. Great wildlife viewing.

Second time up this trail. Beautiful hike with lots of things to see. Saw two mountain goats near the top this time. Lake is worth the extra hike to the top but is the most challenging stretch. Not much traffic on way up around 7am but pretty heavy coming down.

Definitely a moderate hike, I was a little out of shape when we went but it was a blast. We went at 6:30am and there was plenty of parking and it was a beautiful trail!

This is my favorite spot. Hiking up to the top is work but once you get there the view from the lookout tower is amazing and worth it. If you are not use to the altitude make sure to take many stops and bring lots of water. You will never regret doing this hike.

Loved this! I’d agree with the moderate description—trail is well marked though. There are quite a few large rocks and tree roots along the way so just take care, especially if it starts to rain. Views at the top are gorgeous though. Didn’t make it to the second lake due to weather but will for sure be back to finish!

Really cool trail! Especially if you’re looking for a hike that isn’t going to take all day. The fire tower was amazing, the views were insane! My boyfriend discovered that he was terrified of heights but definitely worth the climb! Haha.

Guys, DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH SEVEN FALLS! For one, this is free. Also, I had much more fun here.
Keep going up the mountain/road after Helen Hunt falls and you will see a huge parking lot. Go west through the gated dirt road and then after 0.7 mi (according to GPS/Fitbit) you will see the 622 post. My husband and I had fun taking pictures at every bridge we hit. I really enjoyed this hike. From the parking lot to the end of bridge 7 and back, my Fitbit clocked 3.47 mi.
There seems to be paths everywhere, but remember the whole path is along the creek. If you think you’re getting too far away from the creek, you probably are.

This is definitely a great trail. but if you are hiking all the way to the falls it is not moderate. and yes it is longer than stated. beautiful vistas.

Great combination of open field and shade from the trees. Path was well marked and the sand was good for the dogs. Not busy at all Sunday afternoon. Great easy trail.

make sure to get there early! also we had some trouble finding the signs haha but it overall was absolutely gorgeous and very nice.

A perfect hike for a time period of about 2 hours! Amazing views at the top! Have hiked this trail multiple times and it never disappoints!

Quick and fun. Did it with my nephews - both 7 years old. They enjoyed the Tower and talking with the Ranger at the top. The views are fantastic.

Beautiful waterfalls.

Beautiful hike, but super busy (of course, for a Saturday). We went beyond the lake to the upper lake, which doesn't show an official trail on the map. Lots of scrambling and hard to breathe above treeline. The second lake is pretty, but the first one is better. Another group saw some mountain goats beyond the second lake, but they had run off so we didn't attempt to go further. One note on the trail - wear sturdy boots because there is a lot of traversing over rocks and lots of tree roots. And on a hot day, bring lots of water.

Love the coolness of the trails through the forest. The bridges are pretty well maintained. The views are amazing.
