This was a very beautiful trail. If you use the map it’s pretty easy to stay on track but you can adventure off if you want to as well. The sun will hit you for most of the hike so be prepared with enough water for everyone. I did this one without my 1.5 year old and I would recommend leaving the babies at home. Dogs had a blast but you’ll want to bring enough water for them too.

Amazing views of river, can be very hot midday and very little shade. The way there is mostly downhill which makes it very arduous coming back. The river is crystal clear and so refreshing and calm to swim in. Encountered 20-30 people in 4 hours.

Beautiful easy ride.

Our kids (4 & 7) are great hikers and loved this. It was a great length for kids with almost no down time between beautiful lakes and interesting terrain.

Beautiful low traffic hike. Lots of scenic views, I would definitely do it again

Out and back Hike was terrific. Lake is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in the area.

Nice walk around the lake. Then go get breakfast in south lake.

Fun short walk around the like....perfect for mountain biking

Beautiful views with a smidge of challenge. Go early and wear a hat.

River was crystal clear and good for jumping in. The markers are a little confusing. If you see gun shells or the shooting range, you went the wrong way. Got to go early or it's in the 90s with no cover on your way back.

Great trail run. Ran it on Labor Day, and crowds weren’t too bad.

Beautiful small hike down to the waterfall. the trail isn't marked but the best directions was to park across the street at the PCT sign and walk across the street and the trail is right there. i hiked up the PCT trail a bit to make it a longer hike. the waterfall is worth seeing for sure and the water is an amazing emerald green..

A great spur off of the PCT. Beautiful! Only a few campers on a Monday. Locals had told me that the lake is packed on the weekends but Its a pretty nice size so that should not be an issue. I recommend a visit. Stay the West side for the AM sun

Really enjoyed this trail! Great scenery with plenty of open clearings to enjoy it. The hike to the swimming spots was absolutely worth it as the water was clear and clean. Shade is limited after the first stretch so sun protection is recommended.

This trail has some pretty nice scenery. The cave is a must see, down at the end of trail once you reach the river great for pictures the water is crystal clear. make sure to have 2 bottles of water on the way back up the trail. over all hike is beautiful would recommend.

Downhill out, meaning uphill on the way back. Mostly gradual, with a few steeper sections. Much of the hike is on the side of the mountain with some cliffs so beware if afraid of heights. Nice views of the river. Shaded for about half of the hike. A 10 minute drive past Auburn does provide better scenery IMO.

Walked with 3 kids (7, 6 and 3) 3 year old in ergo. Definitely dusty so plan on cleaning feet afterward! The view was worth the whining on the way up - the kids even agreed and were in much better spirits on the way back

take plenty of water, but that's for any hike. It's a quiet hike if you go early enough and there is an area you are able to get into the water for a swim before heading back if you choose. It's a beautiful hike with beautiful views. there's a stretched of shaded area but there's also a stretch with no shade so wear sunblock. be courteous because the trail does get narrow.

Wondering if this stretch of the PCT is suitable for trail running?

one of the most beautiful alpine lakes. unfortunately has been discovered by too many people.

Question: has anyone day hiked this? Thoughts?

Very easy and also very short. Good for a quick change in scenery if you head north or south on the east side of Lake Tahoe and want to make a quick stop.

The ascent up Sand Ridge Trail can be difficult, but beautiful views from the top. Beautiful and not heavily trafficked.

Great 4 day hike. Late start camp at Island Lake, 5 Lakes via Sand Ridge, Glacier Lake, Round Lake, out. 5 adults, 2 kids. Meteors.

Great hike! Just be watchful of bears. We spotted one about 15/20 feet from us while doing the hike not even half way in.

I loved this hike! Took my boyfriend for his birthday and it was lovely, BUT it was horrible the way back because we did not bring enough water. Please bring more than you think you need!!

Nice leisurely trail. Easy for kids alike.

Nice view of lake at points.

Easy trail with great overlook! Not much shade coverage so bring a hat and/or sunscreen. Plenty of parking with a port-o-potty and picnic area.

Loved the views on this easy walk! However, the rocky trail bothered our dogs paws and lack of much shade had them scrambling for each tree... Was only 80° out, but quite warm in the sun for them I guess! Would do again, but earlier in the morning and leave the pups at home!
