Beautiful!

Lakes are beautiful. It’s about 15 minutes south of surprise lake till you reach glacier. There are a ton of bugs at the lake but they don’t bite

Great hike! GO EARLY if you want peace, quiet, and tranquility. We encountered a lot of large loud groups on our way out late morning. Trail is moderately easy but do recommend good shoes as it is long. Forest is stunning and the water crystal clear!

once a year we do this hike and it never disappoints.

Well maintained, light traffic, beautiful and not a huge commitment. I had trekking poles but didn’t hugely need them. No sign of bears, just an odd amount of slugs drying in the sun. Easy parking, free and no way to get lost.

Good hike with the family when camping nearby.

Gorgeous hike. careful when you get ti the trail head with the other trail... can be confusing but the trail almost doubles back. Worth the trip.

Snow Lake is beautiful, lots of people on the trail. Not difficult so a lot of day hikers. Beautiful campsites and quiet at night.

great trail! worth the hike is suggest wearing hiking boots or sneakers. I wore chacos and my feet were fine just SUPER dirty at the end.
carry lots of water with you!
if you go on a warm /hot day wear swim gear so you go in the lake.

6 of us went in on Thursday, August 9. I backpacked this trail 6 years ago. I did not remember it being as difficult as it was this time. ( 6 years older and now out of shape). The trail was in very good shape. We did not see anyone along the trail. 2 of our group scampered up the trail. They made the hike in 3 hours. The rest of us reached the lake in just over 6 hours. Wow! Once there we had the place to ourselves. The flies were bothersome. Bug spray handled them ok.
Huckleberries were ripe and right in the camping area. Two of us hiked to the other end of the lake and found an abundance of berries along the way. We hiked in on the hottest day of the year. Friday was very nice. Saturday it rained. Very hard at times. Oh yeah, this is when the 2 of us were at the other end of the lake. Totally soaked from head to foot. Used our camp stoves to help dry our boots. Sunday morning was misty and brief little showers. Hiked out in 3 hours. All in all it was a fantastic trip and so worth the hike in.

Nice easy to get to hike. A good amount of people and dogs however on a Thursday morning. Still very enjoyable.

Love it and the view is amazing! I made the mistake of going without having eaten (hypoglycemic) and got lightheaded and a bit sick with the elevation increase. It's not an easy trail but it is not at all impossible. Beautiful!

moderate hike worth the view at the top.
hiked it with my kids on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy (must have been a perfect time to go).
5 year old daughter did the trail easy up and back.
8 year old son complained the whole way (but he complains about everything).
spent time by the water after watching some hawks fish, one of them caught one. it was cool.

The hike to Waptus lake isn't bad. The trail from Waptus to Spade is straight up the mountain. Roughly 5 miles. The only water is towards the end of the trail. Bring lots of water and snacks.

We did a one night backpacking trip into the meadows which was 5.5 miles in. We then set up camp and went to the peak which was another 1.5 mile or so. The hike up to the peak is tough, but worth the pain! We went to see the sunset at the peak and the pictures and view was incredible. Round trip for us 13.7 miles (a bit more than what this app says). Great trip!

worth the trip down to the lake once you've "gotten to the top".

effort but not difficult, so don’t expect a challenge but it’s not a cakewalk either. incredibly scenic. views of mt. ranier, but go clockwise in order to not be walking away from it. bugs not as bad as the other reviewers seem to suggest. 5/5

Nice climb up to a decent view. A popular place! Parking was okay, but the trail and viewpoint was crowded. Lots of dogs which partly made up for the lots of people. Still, a nice, moderate hike not far from the city.

We made an overnight trip out of the trek and glad we did. The final mile uphill is pretty steep with a number of waist-high step ups. It was quite a climb wearing overnight packs. There were less than a dozen campers for a Saturday night in July and we located an amazing spot to shelter for the night. So the mosquitos, OMG the mosquitos! You must remain in constant motion or you'll have the woodland insects whispering the secrets of the forest in your ears. I cannot emphasize enough to bring powerful repellant or you'll be hanging out in your tent ⛺! At times inching downhill the next day makes an extremely sore following day. At times you're scaling up rocks. Another time we were throwing our bodies and packs over a fallen tree. It's an adventure!

awesome hike ... early part no shade so a little exposed but latter half gets really deep into the forests .... the lake itself is on you all of a sudden so hidden it is ..... not much of a place to hang out but well worth it .... the return trip is at least 40 % faster !!

Great hike. Gorgeous views!!

Awesome lake, this trail can be rough if you're backpacking it. The last mile and a half can be confusing but someone made rock towers to follow which makes it easier.

Awesome trail, but try to avoid it on weekends. It is literally the interstate of hikes.

This trail absolutely destroyed my legs, went camping for 2 nights, Gorgeous scenery, but do not let the "light scrambles" confuse you. There were some parts where I should have hiked in a ladder. All in all the hike is beautiful but a very very strenuous all uphill/rock climbing hike
