Summer 2017 To Climb Map

One of my favorite trails thus far. It requires a good push as most of the trail is on an incline. The view from the top is incredibly spectacular and beyond worth the struggle towards the peak.

We are not avid hikers and we still managed to complete the trail close to an hour and a half. It is so worth it!!!

We wore crampons and wished we had brought poles as well. However, we were hiking on a fresh batch of snow so poles are probably not needed when the path is beat down.

The weather at the top is quite chilly. We encountered a swift wind as we left the tree line to reach the peak. Prepare accordingly!

Nice hike with 2 waterfalls and hiking along a river to the ink pots. Very crowded however. Get there really early to get a parking spot. At the ink pots, eat a lunch along the river. Mountains in background are very scenic.

Absolutely amazing 360degree views from the peak! Great hike!!

This is a gorgeous fun trail. Make sure you go early to avoid crowds. We did this in September and not many people went to the Ink Pots, so much less crowded, but coming back was very crowded around the falls. The ink pots are very neat. Love this trail.

Did this trail today, when it's still snow from the parking lot all the way to the ink pots. It was just above freezing. Really lovely. Sheltered from the wind, and the sun was warm enough that I was able to get down to just basic insulators. Spikes are a must, though, and poles recommended!

Always love this hike in the fall but this was the first winter attempt and it was stunning. Lots of elevation over a short distance but the trail is well kept and easy to follow due to its popularity.

We had a south western wind so it got a bit unpleasant out of the treeline but it’s not far from the treeline to the peak. The winds made it so cold up there my iphone wouldn’t work, sapped the battery in about 2 minutes of photos. I’d recommend tech gloves, face masks and a charger pack to anyone else looking for some great shots at the top.

We wore spikes (small ones) and used poles and that was plenty of grip and stability. Otherwise it was a fantastic sunny day and a beauty of a mountain.

Beautiful in winter, slippery on uphills but fine with good winter boots and warm clothing. The upper falls are beautiful when frozen.

We went on this walk while considering this location for an outdoors wedding. It is a very easy walk at an absolutely stunning site - the water, the
Mountains and the great blue skies. What is there to not like?

Amazing hike! make sure you bring crimp-ons. The waterfalls ate breath taking!

beautiful beginning to a relentless climb! understatement, I plan on making this my first hike of the next season.
you climb and climb and climb stop take a break.... Those last few hours of going up and you still have few more hours of going up! wonderful hike

Such a rewarding hike.

Sunny but a bit cold at the top with the wind.
Challenging hike because of the snow, the last 200 meters are tricky.
Clits not essential but recommended.
Awesome views as soon as you leave the forest.

Winter hike that was nicely traversable. Not icy, just hard packed snow and a good trail to follow. Fairly flat the whole way and great views of a bluebird sky.

Not bad for snow but a bit tricky now. cold af today.

Nice view at the top. Good winter hike.

Intense workout with a great reward at the end!

pardon my language but this mountain was an absolute b**** to climb. really steep and challenging, but the view at the top is worth while.

very challenging but once you get up there it is all worth the climb!

Great climb even with snow

Easy, beautiful but very crowded.

Did this hike late in January! Managed to complete the entire loop and it wasn't too bad. The ascent up to Mt Loder isn't that bad but there is some steep parts. There wasn't much snow on that side of the mountain which made scrambling fairly easy. However once I started down the other side towards the valley you could tell that's where the snow collected. Was mostly me sliding/falling/cursing my way down.

Once I was into the valley it looked like I was the first person to attempt it in the winter months as there was no tracks. This was probably the worst part as you had to walk on the snow covered river and had no way to tell if the snow was 6 inches deep or 6 feet. Many times I fell through and sunk in up to my waist.

Once I got to a beaten trail by the canyon walk it's fairly easy from there, I jogged the rest of the way back.

Completed this hike in 4:45 with a lunch break, however I did shave some time off sliding down half the mountain.

I also lost my poles somewhere on the descent into the valley, if you find them please reach out and return!

Thank you!

Good, steep hike. 3 hours to summit and around 2.5 to decent. the views were decent.

knee high snow but worth it

Awsome Hike! - Complete January 21, 2018
Very cold at the top but worth it for the veiws! Easily do-able with crampons! To windy to walk along the ridge but will be back in the summer!

Love this trail for its elevation gain/switch backs that make you work thru the entire hike, also, love the option to hike down the backside of Sansen to the Cave and Basin to change it up on the way down. Extend the hike at the top by walking the boardwalk to the cosmic ray station. Amazing views of Banff are a nice bonus :)

Beautiful winter hike! But if you're not a very active person and just starting out then know that the full hike can be pretty harsh. It was my first hike of the year and I'm not a very active person and I walked out exhausted and in pain. But pushing through it is definitely worth it! But please, please, please BRING CLEAT ATTACHMENTS ! It is very icy in some spots and there's nothing worse then having your hiking vibe on and you're being held up because someone thought it was a great idea to wear Uggs or sneakers. DRESS APPROPRIATELY. Can't wait to go back and do a summer hike.

One of our favorite places to go and relax. Beautiful scenery and nice to have a small lake that is used for a variety of activities. Wading, swimming, beginner cliff jumping, scuba, catch and release fishing, etc.

Very cold the day I did it. In the trees it was so nice, I was peeling off layers. Beyond the treeline it was savagely windy and cold at -30. It was also snowing, so I'll have to go back on a clear day for the views. I had crampons, but never used them. Closer to the treeline, there were a few steep slippery spots. Well packed all the way.

I just did this hike on January 3rd. The trail was quite packed down. The way down was slippery.was pretty cold at the top. Make sure to dress properly for the weather. Great hike!
