Enjoyed very much: especially view at top!

Great, clean trail. Went on Sunday (8/19/18) and the caretaker had taken away five copperheads from the rocks. If you have a snake phobia, may not be the place for you.

Beautiful!! Probably should’ve paid more attention to the “moderate” part for my first hike in many many years. BUT, I made it and I didn’t quit.

Nice, easy trail. Saw a whitetail and the falls were pretty!

Wonderful trail. We’re traveling to Baltimore and were looking for a trail to hike that would not take all day. We loved the stream. The outcropping of rocks at the top was worth w hike. We heard rumblings of thunder and got soaked in a thunderstorm! Thanks to trail locator for the hiking information.

First time I have hiked this. We hiked directly after hiking the Maryland Heights. Hot day but lots of fun. Around 15 miles in total

Second time this. We were with a Make-A-Wish fund raising group. It was super humid, but lots of fun. Great views of Harpers Ferry

The upper loop was challenging but leveled out at the top. plus there were much fewer people on that part of the trail

This is a nice, well-maintained wooded trail with lots of ferns and some scenic overlooks. It got a bit congested, but it was a nice local day hike.

Great hike. If you take the left trailhead it’s about a mile uphill. Good workout. Great bouldering at wolf rock and beautiful view at chimney rock. Lots of rock jutting out on trail. We took time outs at both wolf and chimney and did the loop in 2 hr 30 min. Will be back!

Beautiful hike. I got lost but managed to find myself back on a trail! Found a rattle snake so be aware of your surroundings. Happy hiking :)

We parked on the side of Raven Rock Rd. Quick climb (<0.75mile) , then the trail levels off. Nice stroll through the forest. High rock is accessible by car. Lots of neat graffiti. Awesome view. Police did a drive-by while we were at high rock.

Parked at Harpers Ferry instead of trail head which adds about another mile each way. Park can be accessed earlier than stated opening time and boxes are used to pay entrance fees. From Harpers Ferry, you cross the bridge from West Virginia into Maryland with lots of opportunities to see trains emerging from the tunnel and passing by you. Overlook for harpers ferry second to none but can get crowded on weekends. If you do the full Maryland Heights loop, counter clockwise is less strenuous in terms of ascending to the top. Well populated trail with lots of friendly dogs.

Fucking amazing excuse my langue but by far the best one I’ve ever done

Very tiring. Most of this hike is in the woods on a side of a mountain, but when you do get glimpses down, it is worth it.

My husband and I are beginner hikers, we hiked up to Wolf Rock, and really enjoyed it a lot. Chimney Rock is the next destination on this hike!

Great hike. First mile is straight up- but doable! The hike is 5.1 this includes the walk to the parking lot. Wear good shoes and the “caretaker” left a note to “look out for snakes”. (Sunday Aug 6) They too are happy to have the sun-shining. I am very happy not to have seen any.

I LOVED this trail! Not sure why this says 5.1 miles...it is only 4.4, unless I missed something? It was just the right amount of hard and easy for a short day hike. Pretty much the whole first mile is uphill. Not terribly steep but not easy! Then it flattens out and is a nice walk to the rocks. The trail is so wide which is nice because it's heavily trafficked on a weekend!

After almost 2 weeks of rain the trail was pretty muddy. For the most part you are able to walk around it or rock-hop but there were a few times I was in my groove and just sunk down in the mud. But like I said...two weeks of rain!! So who cares about a little mud! I can't imagine the mud will clear up quickly since people are already back on the trail after so much rain, so just be prepared. The rocks were beautiful and there are several spots you can walk around to for a view. Just be careful obviously.

It was a good time challenging uphills and fun down hills

The trail was definitely challenging at the start, which I love. It levels off a little more than halfway to the top. Nice out and back trail, not too long if you’re kind of in a rush like we were, but you get a good workout in right away. Fun trail, and the view at the top is so worth it!

I did this about a month ago. It’s a hard hike but the views are worth it. Bring lots of water! We almost ran out.

After a climb, you skirt along the top of the mountain. Highly recommend.

trail running

I love running this trail. It has a good bit of variety. Some good climbs and technical terrain. The views aren’t that great but if you are looking for a challenge this is a great one for 10k distance trail training.

my go too hike because it's, beautiful, a great work out and I can get an ice cream in town when I'm done. This is not for people who are out of shape. on Sunday a woman had be be rescued because she couldn't make it. It is very busy and you will see a lot of people who should reconsider hiking this. please bring water and consider leaving the pups at home.

Decent trail. Look out for bikers.

The hike was a real workout! the accents on either side were faily steep and very rocky. After so much rain it was fairly dry except for a few areas. the High Rock lookout was great!

Lots of rocky outcroppings. Not for the beginner hiker.

Harper's Ferry is an amazing little area and this is a great trail to get a commanding vantage point of the beautiful town and the three states it nestles between. Going up is relatively hard, especially on a hot, muggy day, but the overlook is completely worth the glute workout! Also, enjoy looking at the remnants of the canal, crossing the Potomac, and walking past John Brown's fort while on the trail. Afterwards, treat yourself to some ice cream or a cold one at many of the fine eateries in the town...you've earned it!
