Beautiful and fun hike! the hardest part for me was closer to the top where all the rocks and boulders were but other than that definitely doable and so worth it. its a popular hike so definitely prepare for that and be sure to have a parking pass or get one at the station just a few miles before the hike.

Fairly steep route (1,000 feet gain/mile) but the trail's in good shape and well-groomed. A couple of trees down that little ones will need help getting over.

Crowded with fitness hikers, families and folks w/ dogs.

Met one hardy soul who was starting his third lap of the day(!).

Beautiful trail, arrived at 9:45 am on a Saturday and would recommend going a bit earlier. The hike itself gave a great view of the forests and the cascades at some point. Waterproof shoes are a must, the trail became a creek at times. Lots of cute dogs, saw a small avalanche on the far side of the lake (didn’t interfere with the trail.) I recommend a down layer if you’re planning on sitting near the lake at all, the sun doesn’t get into the valley at all due to it rising and setting so far south.

Beautiful hike! Not much to see on the way up but the lake is stunning. Pretty easy if you’re in some sort of shape. Ice and snow when you’re pretty much to the top. Definitely doable without spikes and poles but HIGHLY RECOMMEND waterproof shoes and layers for up tops. The sun didn’t breach the ridge line so the whole lake was shaded the entire day. We got to trailhead at 9:15 and there weren’t too many people but trail was definitely crowded on our way back down. Would not recommend going on ice.

Awesome hike! Steep climb, but only a mile one way so totally doable. Took 40 minutes to get to the top. There were a few muddy patches, but no snow, so it’s still good conditions for January. It was super sunny today so the views were incredible. Highly recommend for an afternoon hike.

Beautiful day with our friends on this winter hike. We definitely needed our Yak Tracks for the snow at the top! Gortex boots made the stream crossing simple.

Great short hike for any age and skill level. Waterfall was breathtaking!

This is one of those hikes I could do and never get tired of. I only do this one in the winter for the scenery.

Climbed this one in the winter. Definitely need a 4x4 and snow chains to make it to the TH. Recommended to have knowledge of avalanche safety for the winter route, as there are 3-4 hazardous areas of crossing. Overall, a fair bank for your buck.

Felt bad for parents with young kids lugging them over slippery rocks and muddy roots. Parents check conditions. You might be biting off more than you anticipated.

Cel

Went up to the lake it was amazing. Went on Monday 01/07/19. Need water proof shoe's for sure and layers of cloth's to keep warm very cold at lake but well worth the trip.

Nice short hike to get out into nature. Every skill level can enjoy this trail (my wife is 8 months pregnant and had no problem). Beautiful river and waterfalls!

Beautiful falls

Hiked it today, 1/5. I drove from Wilkerson and drove over the bridge, parked, then walked over the bridge to the trail head. You have to step over the guard rail to get to the trail. It’s a little steep going down but flat once you get down. I only hiked about 30 minutes because it started to get dark. The trail was pretty muddy but not too bad.

Very good trail, would definitely do it again! Easy hike with young kids. Our 4 year olds walked the whole two miles and our 6 year olds said it wasn’t long enough. I suggest getting there early we showed up at about 10:30am and ran into a few big groups and a few individuals, however the parking lot was full when we got back and was filling on the side of the roads.

little bit of snow spitting at the bottom but definitely sticking at the top. muddy in places but totally avoidable!

Fun and semi easy 2 mile hike. Beautiful waterfall, but to get to the bottom of this fall, you will have to go down the steps at the end of the hike. There’s a nice waterfall half way up, which will definitely add value to the hike.

MUST DO.

From the East Coast (specifically New Jersey) and this was our first West Coast hike. Wow, wow, wow. The views were insane, the flora was gorgeous, and the temperature was perfect in August! This review is written late, but if you can make the trip, DO IT!

An absolutely gorgeous beach with lots of driftwood, rock features and a pebble beach that grades into sand towards the water. Easy access and definitely worth the trip. I visited on December 24th and it was chilly and fairly busy around sunset but what a gorgeous sunset.

The bridges we icy, not a lot of snow till about a mile or so from the top. There are parts of the trail that are steep and icy with not a lot of branches to grab onto. The lake is pretty much frozen.. but please do NOT GO OUT ONTO THE LAKE. I had a group ask me if it would be okay to walk on the lake and I expressed how dangerous it would be.. they ended up beating me up there and they were sure enough on the lake. Just hanging out taking selfies.... I am sad the say that that was the first of 3 groups of people that I saw on the lake that day. After the first group I saw and heard the ice brake. I heard the 2nd group talking about the noise the ice was making while they were on it and they stayed on it. The 3rd group decided to go on the ice that the 1st group broke. I don't think that they listened to me when I told them as much....Please be safe...set a good example for everyone on the trail.

Icy but beautiful!

The hike was beautiful. My girlfriend and I hiked this trail during the summer and enjoyed every bit of the views and nature. We personally enjoyed the upper falls better than the lower falls on the loop trail due to the fact that there were a lot less people and you could just get a lot closer. The trail itself had a couple look out points which made it that much more rewarding. Both are beautiful falls though.

went approximately 2 days ago! greatt hike although very tricky. 1st bridge was very slippery. should bring spikes with you. quite a few icey spots through the whole hike. and freezing up at the top. my father fell and ended up breaking his leg on the first bridge. so be very cautious! if someone can take pictures of the hole in the bride that would be very appreciated to warn others! I definitely prefer this in the Summer.

Trail was in good winter condition. A little muddy in some spots, but nothing that couldn't easily be navigated. It was fairly icy for the last 1/3rd of a mile or so, especially on the steps and wooden walkways.

My dog and I arrived around 1pm on a Wednesday (January 2nd) and got back to the car at about 2:45pm. We're meandered and stopped a lot. Some switchbacks but nothing too strenuous. It's been dry for a couple days so there were hardly any wet parts of the path. In some places there was mud but still very doable (I was just in running shoes). A little snow just before the tower. The tower gave me sweaty palms, but what an incredible view from the top! We only ran into 3 pairs of hikers during our trip. I may not go again but really enjoyed it while we were there.

Short hike with a beautiful view at the end. The switchbacks suck and conditions are pretty muddy but the payoff at the end is great. A little snowy towards the top and the stairs to the lookout can be icy. Highly suggest going on a clear day to fully experience the mountains around you.

Beautiful hike! Just some notes for people going there in the following days:
Parking lot was packed (go early)
Toilet paper out at the trailhead’s toilets: bring your own
Trail is extremely wet: waterproof boots
The first bridge is extremely slippery: caution+poles
Some trees down, most easy to bypass, one we had to go under and it was not fun.
If you make it to the end, do not skip the loop around the lake! It’s SO worth it!
