Nice trail that is well kept & blazed. The view is nice

However, three issues.
1. I would just recommend you understand the blazing. It is blue white, till you cross another trail, then go right on blue for the rest except the blue yellow summit.
2. For the cutback, I didn't find the trail as shown so had to go about a quarter mile in the road - not bad, just free warned.
3. My GPS tracker shows 5 miles and I only went off maybe 200 yards, plus my cutback (2) was shorter.

The lower half of the trail looks perfect for snowshoeing

Walked this trail on a very hot day during August and enjoyed every second of it, especially the overlook points and crossing the waterfall, can’t wait to go back!

Loved the hike took almost 5 hours. I wouldn’t recommend large dogs for the whole loop. Some portions you have to climb up. I would do this trail in the summer/fall.

Nice workout, took about 2.5 hrs on the blue trail. Waterfalls are scenic and the 2nd half is more challenging than the first. Definitely need to pay attention to the markers I can see why some get lost. I’ll definitely be back.

There’s better up this way

Quick hike with challenging inclines. The view at the top is worth it!

Very nice trail, except that you need to walk almost a mile along route 7 after Bennets pond. The map in the app is not to be used. use the maps posted at the trails entrance.

Pros- easy trail to follow with plenty of trail blazes, waterfall was beautiful, falls were really roaring with recent snow and a good portion of it was frozen which added to the beauty of it (falls is located on the blue/yellow trail right off the main blue trail), views of the lake were ok (views would probably be a lot better earlier in fall with more color)
cons- nothing much to see other than the waterfall, lots of trash around the lake which is very upsetting (I wish people would just clean up after themselves), trail was getting pretty busy as I was finishing up and parking lot was packed when I made it back

Had a great time hiking Sam's Point Preserve and Verkerdeerkill Falls. We completed this hike on black Friday (11/23/18) on a beautiful sunny 20° day. The trails were clearly marked and the map was spot on accurate as far as measuring out the distances of the routes. On top of the mountain was about 4 inches of snow and very icy. Unfortunately the ice caves were closed due to the amount of ice but we will explore that another day. We arrived at 9am on the dot with only 3 other cars in the parking lot but saw that within a few hours of being there the cars (and buses) loaded with people started rolling in; I would suggest getting there as it opens because the parking lot is very small. Staff was extremely nice and helpful, the young woman at the front desk gives a detailed overview of what to expect and there are other staff members driving around to ensure no confusion or issues arise. The sights were stunningly beautiful for such a quick and easy hike in which you can see multiple states and an endless horizon of mountain tops. Our route from the trail head was 1 mile to the overlook, 4 miles to the falls and back and then we walked back to completed the Loop Road around the lake due to the weather. All in all with a few little water breaks and a lunch stop it took us about 5 hours from arrival to departure. We will definitely be back to hike the High Point trail and Ice Caves once the weather warms up a bit!

Great walk but not an easy hike.

Lovely hike - definitely not hard but very long. Ended up being ~12 miles because we parked in the lower parking lot. Very busy - recommend getting there early

Hiked on 11-11-18 Sam’s point , Ice Cave and Verkeederkill Fall Trail. Lots of water though after the rain. Recommended waterproof footwear.
Ice Cave is icy and cold. Make sure to dress warm. Verkeerderkill Falls view is Amazing, Beautiful trails.
The views are breathtaking. Awesome hike !

The foliage right now is outstanding. Bright green pitch pines in a sea of bright red bushes. Suggested waterproof shoes for the footpath to the fall. At times the footpath turns into a stream as you approach the fall. Probably will get worse after rains. Nonetheless a magnificent hike for variety of pace and beauty of scenery. The approach on both direction is a carriage road so do not aspect anything more than a pretty country road. Enjoy!

hiked it on 11-4-18. was as awesome as the first time. lots of water though, definitely bring some waterproof shoes if hitting it after some rain. river crossing to the falls looked sketchy but wasn't at all once halfway in. would suggest hitting up with ice caves and Indian Rock, made the total mileage 11.4.

Great hike with some amazing views near and around Cobble Mtn. Started from the lower half and went counter so that I saved the views for the 2nd half of the hike. Perfect hike to do in the fall, the colors are beautiful and pictures cant do it justice. Easy trail to follow and i personally didnt find it extremely hard, did it on a late Saturday Morning after a few showers and had the whole trail to myself until the end where I passed a few people heading up Cobble Mtn in the early PM. By the time I was finishing the weather really cleared up, the sun was shining and the parking lot was starting to get packed, so I expect this hike gets busy when the weather is nice, luckily I dont mind hiking in the rain and the sun was out by the time I started the 2nd half of the hike, so I was able to enjoy Cobble Mtn for myself. This trail has a lot of boulder crossings which were very slippery after the rain and a few of the trails acted as streams, so I highly recommend you have waterproof boots with good traction. Great place to go after this hike is Kent Falls Brewery, its a working farm brewery and they have some great beer on tap made right there for a very reasonable price, plus the workers there are super friendly, youll thank me later!

The trail is narrow and really rocky. We went after a big rain and the trail was completely covered in water essentially the entire way. We couldn't cross at the mouth of the water fall because the water had risen so much and the current was so strong that it felt dangerous to complete the trail to even get a really great look at it. We wound up hiking a bit in the opposite direction but the view was mediocre at best and covered by a lot of trees. A lot of other hikers hiked upstream to cross but it was incredibly muddy and just covered with so much overgrowth that it was hard to navigate. I've heard that it's not great to come during the summer because there's not much water, but coming after a big rain and not being able to cross after hiking almost 2 miles on a rocky/wet trail was really disappointing. I don't think I'd go out of my way to do this one again.

3 steep inclines but the view at the top is worth it!

Went during the week to avoid the big crowds and it was totally worth it. It was a pretty short hike up to Sam's Point and the views were amazing. Walking to the falls was pretty easy, flat, and a beautiful walk as well. These trails were easy to navigate and the paths were pretty clear. Take a day off and try to go during the week!

The first half doesn’t seem like it will be worth it but if you do the entire trail it is breathtakingly beautiful. The peak, falls, and caves make for a very interesting and well worth it hike

Beautiful area! There's an easier path with great sites to see and a rough path that takes you thru the woods. Each way brings you to the top which is breath taking.

Nice afternoon hike spot. Moderate hills, relatively easy trails with good markers. Beacon cap had nice view and place to relax before trekking back

amazing

Do not go alone, especially for your first hike here!! I have been hiking around this area for years, but I’ve never seen a trail from this app so poorly marked. It is very easy to get lost. Also on the spooky side.

a nice 6 ish mile hike with some good changes in terrain and challenge. overall, it took about 2 hrs 15 mins with time taken for pictures and also got a bit lost. it does get a little tough to follow the markers toward the back half maybe mile 5 and 6 if on the blue trail. All in all, this is a good go-to for me to knock out a decent workout close to home. A note to dog owners....most I saw don't abide by on-leash rule, so if you go with your dog, please keep your dog on leash.
