Summer 2015 Map

Easy access from the road, ample parking, and close approaches to the scenic creek. Great option for hiking with novices or seniors.

It was a lot of fun to get out and start exploring some of the more impressive trail systems in PA!!!! 11/10/2018

Skyline section is so much fun! I highly suggest doing this counterclockwise.

Took a group of roughly 10 Boy Scouts on the North Trail for an overnight backpacking trip. The trail was swampy and wet in areas and was also over grown in spots, but overall and amazing trip and a fantastic way to get the boys out overnight. Trail was not overly difficult, even for our less athletic boys, and the scenery was well worth some damp socks.

Visited 10/28/18. Paid $10 per person and it’s well worth it! Attended a 30 minute educational lecture of the different raptors that migrate through the area. The trails are pretty. Be prepared for a lot of boulders and rocky terrain. Their easy to maneuver but I suggest good hiking shoes.

This is a very pretty fall hike along the creek. Muddy though. Like really muddy. Like lose you shoes in the muck muddy. Wear it as a badge of honor.

Nice easy hike. 2 waterfalls about a quarter mile opposite each other from the parking area. Walk along the Lehigh Gorge River for a very.leisurely walk. Grandkids loved playing at the bottom of Buttermilk Falls. Gets busy on weekends with bikers coming down from White Haven during the summer. We go about once a month even during the winter and see something different evrrytime.

Great views of the lake. We saw a hawk go fishing and eat its lunch on a tree branch right next to us. There are small looping path that go to the lake.

Went on a Saturday afternoon paid $10.00 well worth it!

What a great hike! Be prepared for lots and lots of rocks and boulders! Challenging but even my 12 yr old finished strong!
Proper shoes and water and snacks is a must. The loop took us about 4hrs. Exhausted but what a great day!

Trail is well marked and has beautiful views
of Tobyhanna creek.

This hike does have great views, comparable to Pulpit Rock and the Pinnacle, did it counter to save the views for the 2nd half of the hike. Didnt see many hawks but it wasnt peak season being August (from what im told this place gets amusement park packed during peak season which is late September to early October). The river of rocks was really cool, especially from the view point. Some rock climbing here and there with lots of rock hoping, but this is expected in rocksylvania so make sure you have some sturdy boots. Alot of info available on the trail and in the vistors center regarding wildlife, geology and history. Main downfall is the 10 dollar entrance fee, to me thats pretty steep but at least it goes to a good cause being a sanctuary and all.

this was a great Trail really intense great for experience of rock climbing saw one of my favorite snakes on the trail timber rattlesnake it took me and my hubby a total of 6 hours to complete the entire loop really intense hiking on rocks sharp rocks stick snakes but a very beautiful great hike

I absolutely love this trail! With well marked trails and spectacular views I would definitely recommend taking the whole loop!

great trail for a good work out. not too strenuous and fairly easy for those in little athletic shape. view at the middle and end are well worth the hike. I'd give yourself a good 2-3 hrs to give yourself time for breaks and just taking in the scenery

My wife and I took our 9 year old on he's first overnight hiking trip here and I must say this was a awesome trail. Only complaints are that it was very swampy and muddy in a lot of spots but it has been very rainy the last few weeks. Also there is lots and lots of overgrowth. To the point that some spots don't even look like there is a trail, however that could just be due to all the rain. That all being said we would do it again and as long as you don't mind mud and overgrowth, you will enjoy this easy trail.

Side note there aren't many campsites until you reach the mid point. We camped out for the night at painters Creek and there were 4 other camp sites around us that were already in use, so this trail is pretty trafficked.

Good spot to hike today, great weather started @ 930 probably a good time before the crowds started... did the orange & some red to do the one loop... saw a ton of sights up in the air, hawks & eagles.

It wasnt quite as challenging as I expected it to be, but we had a great time anyways.

I love picnicking here with the family! Its also a great place to hike and fish. There's always wildlife around so keep an eye out.

We started to the right going downhill along the right side it the rocks... tricky rocky hike going downhill to the lowest elevation - from there the climb to the summit was good and hard. There were three places with very challenging rock climbing to get to the next point of the trail. We’re active healthy 50 year-olds and we did ok. Saw several Eastern Diamondback rattle snakes sunning on the rocks within ten feet of our trail. Allow about 4.5 hours. Be sure to have good supply of water and energy foods to keep going. Have fun!

Nice easy outing with kids 6, 8, and 10 with nice water views. Trail gets muddy so definitely wear boots/good shoes after rain!

Very happy with my hike of the North loop. I was a little disappointed with the trash at the campsites. lots of overgrowth so expect the "hiker wash."

Great hike. The trails are very well maintained. Great views. We spotted some birds, but couldn’t determine what they were. Overall it was a very nice day.

Be ready for a rocky trail. Great hike. Not much scenery until you get to the lookout points. Better have good footwear

The trail was pleasant however poorly marked...

Excellent hike! For a hard hike, I suggest doing the whole loop, to include River of Rocks Trail, Golden Eagle Trail, and the Skyline Trail. Epic hike with a lot of scrambling (Skyline Trail). Definitely slippery when wet so be prepared to slip and slide if it’s raining like it was today.

Just got back from hiking this trail today. The trail was definitely really cool, but it was very hard to find. What we did was we put the directions into the gps, but the problem is that when they told you you were there, there wasnt any place to park. We ended up driving to Sullivan Falls and parking there. From here we hiked further up the road until we found the trailhead and then proceeded to cross the river. We weren't really sure if we did the right trail, but we had fun and it was very pretty. We didn't see any orange trail markers like others on here say they saw so im not sure if there was a different trail we were supposed to do or not but we found our way around fine.

Well its nice and cornfusing at same time lol... wanted to do the whole loop but didnt make the right when i should have . my fault . seen the overlooks and going back and doing loop!!!
