Great views of lake Mowich as well as Lake Eunice on the way up to the fire lookout.

Started the trail at sunrise today and loved every aching minute of the 7 hours it took us to finish the hike!

I'd recommend an early start if you want to avoid the crowds. We met maybe a handful of people on our way up to the Burroughs and didn't have any issues with parking at the trailhead. It's definitely chilly early in the morning though, so bring a jacket and wear layers.

I did the trail counterclockwise and loved watching the sun come up over the mountains, especially as we were heading up to the First Burrough. The climb up to the Second is steady but manageable (on our way down, we saw plenty of families with small children on the trail). And I will say that even though you'll see most people stopping at the Second Burroughs, definitely continue on to the Third! It's about 800 ft of steady climbing, but so worth it.

I would recommend that if you plan on doing the full 9-10 mile hike to bring water, sun protection, and maybe a snack. Although watch out for the ground squirrels! They know no fear when it comes to food.

One of the best hikes at this park. A lot of people stop at the second Burrow, but the most dramatic view is at the third. Enter clockwise if you want continuous views that blow your mind. Couldn’t stop to eat without chipmunks trying to nibble at your hands or looking in your backpack. Don’t feed wildlife!

view was socked in but it was beautiful on the way up. trail was well kept.

Went on Saturday 8/4 and it was busy! If you do a weekend get an early start or you’ll be parking way down the hill. Went from Mowich to Eunice to the lookout.

Holy shit, bring big spray. Bust out that DEET! We brought some hippie natural organic stuff and it did not work whatsoever. These mosquitos were of a different breed! Great trail, took my 60 year old Mom and she took her time and had a great day. Picnic at the top and hope Mt. Rainier is visible! Great hike, but bring that bug spray!

Stunning!! My guy and I had such a great time with this one. Lovely forested beginning which leads up to Eunice Lake. Took a dip in the blue green water and swam with the salamanders. Then up to the top to the Lookout. Wildflowers were starting to pop! The views...jaw dropping. And, we had it all to ourselves! BE WARNED: Bring bug spray, and not a natural one (which is what I wanted to bring). The bugs mean business up there!!!

One of my best so far. Beautiful scene. And if you want to see salamanders, go look inside the lake, you will see many of them. There are sooo many mosquitos, flies and bees. Bring bug spray unless prepare yourself to be eaten alive!

One of my favorite hikes by far! Hiked 8/5/18, got to the trailhead around 9:30 am for prime side of the road parking. Bring bug spray because those buggers are RELENTLESS!! But the views at the top at magnificent. Second time doing this hike and besides the road to drive to get here I have nothing but praise for this magnificent trail. It’s a pretty hard steep hike but totally worth it at the top. Make sure you get up on the fire lookout and see Rainier in all its glory. Day was beautiful and we spent about an hour at the top just taking into the view.

Very rewarding hike with a beautiful lake. Would recommend getting an early start on this one to beat the bugs and crowds later in the day. Camping is not allowed at Blanca Lake however there is plenty of camping spots at Virgin Lake.

So so beautiful! But definitely the hardest hike I’ve ever done. It seemed like we would never get there but we finally did! I would definitely say take PLENTY of water. I drank 4 bottles by myself.
Check the weather before you go. We went yesterday and the weather was perfect. I think like 70-72 the whole day. I can’t imagine doing that hike in hotter weather. It would be miserable. We forgot bug spray and the bugs didn’t bother us too bad. I don’t think i have bites at all. They were only a nuisance when we stopped to take a breather. We got there and started on the trail around 11:30-12. We got back at 7:50. So it was a very long day but totally worth it. Make sure you wear hiking boots, if you don’t have any make sure you wear tennis shoes with GOOD SOLES.

The worst part was the 2 mile walk back because
It felt like it would never end.

Great hike and beautiful view but I wouldn’t have gone if I knew I had to pay $30 for a one day pass to go up there. Also way over crowded and a lot of tourist who don’t move out of the way for experienced hikers.

Did this hike today. Started at 6:30am and it took us about 8.5 hours total, including about an hour at the lake. The climb up was strenuous, but it was all well maintained switchbacks. Once you reach the top of the switchbacks, there is a meadow, then Virgin Lake, then the trail down to Blanca lake. The hike is not technical and there are even stairs at a few points. It was well worth it for the view of the lake and several vistas along the way. I would recommend getting an early start to avoid bugs and crowds. There were only two other people at the lake when we got there around 11, and the sun lit up the lake closer to noon. We weren't attacked by any bugs until we started back down the mountain, and it was a lot busier later in the day too. Happy hiking!

very crowded but I expected that on a summer weekend... very beautiful views!

Please be aware the trail app takes you to the WRONG DESTINATION, please DONT FOLLOW it.

If you’re using high way 2 from cashmere; go past the Skykomish ranger station and turn right after the station. Follow the road for about 13 miles, it will turn into a dirt road. At the end of the road you will walk about 2.5 miles to the trail head and then about 7 miles round trip to Blanca Lake.

If coming from Goldbar; get to mile mark 50 then turn left and follow the same route as stated above.

It sprinkled and then pored rained on ya the last 1.5 miles. It wasn’t worth it but I bet on a clean day it’s nice.

Good luck to all hikers and please be safe.

Awesome hike, doesn't get much better than this unless you do the summit. Bring garbage bags for glissading down, I did it without and spikes or poles by avoiding majority of the snow. My favorite hike so far!

Breathtaking! By far the hardest yet most amazing hike I have ever been on. Pack plenty of water and bug spray. The bees and flies were ridiculous. But it was so worth it!!

The road to the old trailhead is still washed out and won’t be repaired, so add the 4mi round trip. The hike can be a challenge, but just go early and take your time if needed. The lake is absolutely amazing.

The scenery was amazing!!! One of my fave hikes!! We went for a swim in Eunice Lake, and the water temp was perfect!! Downside? Sooooooo many mosquitos!!!! We had bug spray with DEET and still got eaten alive!!!

Great scenic trail. Easy to follow, passes 2 lakes.
Road up there was long but in good shape overall.
Go early to beat the crowds.

Beautiful and exhausting hike! Be prepared for lots of bugs. Never ending switchbacks will make you want to turn around. Bring lots of water.

Bugs spray is a must, great hike though with amazing views. You might want to consider what you drive to get to the trail head parking. 20 plus miles of rough gravel road in a rental car was rough

excellent views bring bug spray

An absolutely beautiful and well-maintained trail. It's generally an easy and forgiving hike on the way up to Glacier Basin campground until the last .5 miles or so (where it becomes significantly steeper). We hiked it twice: once in the morning, and once in the late afternoon. I definitely recommend hiking it sometime in the morning, as the lighting on Rainier was perfect and not overexposed as it was in the afternoon.

We spotted lots of wildlife on this trail as well - if you walk a little ways past Glacier Basin campground toward the scree fields, you're in prime marmot territory (we spotted two scurrying around on the rocks there).

Totally fell in love with this beautiful view of Mt. Rainier. Crazy many mosquitoes, bugs, and flies and rough road for about 11 miles to get to the trailhead. But worth it.

INSANE amount of bugs on the trail! We did this hike on July 29. The weather was hot and humid. We just couldn’t even stand for a minute because of the bugs which included flies, mosquitoes and bees. There are new views except at the end of the trail.

Great hike, but the bugs were horrible. Might be best to do this hike earlier in July because the mosquitos were unbearable! Great views though!

Great hike. Made it to 2nd Burroughs but did not continue since I didn’t have water or sun protection. Weather was amazing. Trail was easy to follow and connected with several other trails.

Astonoshing views of Mt. Ranier!
