It is really beautiful. Make sure to go during the day time if you’re not a pro cause it’s easy to get lost and it is not marked very well

great year round walk

Pretty muddy most of the year so bring some good hiking boots and an extra towel if you have a 4 legged companion! Otherwise, the views are spectacular are more than you could ever ask for a hike under 5 miles and essentially no elevation again.

A nice, easy hike with beautiful views of the water. We saw bald eagles nesting in the cliffs and even did a little skinny dipping!

Really fun and fairly easy trail! I will say that the second half of the trail becomes very, very rooted. I went the day after it rained and it was very slick and muddy in some spots, so make sure you bring a pair of sturdy shoes that are waterproof.

I only saw a couple of other people on the way out (started at 10:30am Sat), but ran into many groups of people coming back. Parking lot was full when I left at 1pm.

Also, beware of the lifting chain link on the trail if you bring a dog or small child. Some parts of the links were lifted and could have cut a paw or tripped a kid. Would not suggest letting your dog off leash, although many people did let their dog roam free.

Overall a nice hike with great views. Recommend getting there early and coming prepared for mud.

Fantastic hike. Unbeatable views of the great Pacific. We saw jelly fish and sea lions! My fiancé completed this entire trail 6 months pregnant! The roots are intense at times but it’s not bad if you take it slow. We were blessed with perfect weather! Here is a video of our hike - https://youtu.be/rkmfI9EKhFg

Enjoy the trails!!!

Did this in March and the views are to die for. So many whales!!! Gorgeous views. Can be muddy and lots of exposed roots.

This hike is different than other Baker hikes like Park Butte or Skyline Divide – because you start already above the treeline, most of the hike is alpine trail with dust and the occasional rockfall. A great part of the hike is that a) it offers amazing views starting 10 minutes from the parking lot, and b) it's noticeably flatter than the hikes mentioned above (though it is slightly higher in elevation). Continuing all the way to the final viewpoint, Baker is fronted by a massive valley, making the mountain feel much bigger than at Skyline Divide or Heliotrope. A great hike for someone who wants a slightly easier introduction to Baker hikes!

Some of the best views I've ever witnessed. The view when you have Mount Rainier to your back around Panorama Point is the best view on the trail but there's also a beautiful waterfall. Highly recommended!

A beautiful spot to sit down and take a break from running around. Easy to get to.

Did this hike on 18th of November, pretty late in the season. At this point the road to the Artist Point parking lot was closed due to snowfall. You park further down which adds another 3km or 45 minutes of hiking each way. The hike was glorious, lightly trafficked at this time of the year. Due to a few days of clear sky the last 2/3rds of the trail was mostly crossing iced over snow and crampons are a must. An ice axe is a welcomed comfort. After an hour walking, around the point where the trail splits off into the Chain Lake trail snow and ice covered the trail which made it impossible to see at times, but with proper gear you can easily navigate your own trail as there are very little obstructions.

Overall not a very hard or steep trail, although the snow increases the effort a little. Absolutely gorgeous views especially with most of the crowds being absent and the snow covering the mountains. Highly recommend.

Lush green trail. About 30 minutes in you get a spectacular view of the coast! Definitely want to do more of this trail.

My wife and I drove from Olympic NP in the morning (after spending the week there) to do this hike before catching the red eye out of SEA and we are so glad we did. Amazing scenery with lots of wildlife (we counted 17 marmots) and wildflowers (past peak but there we still some stragglers). Since it was later in the afternoon it was actually pretty quiet and secluded once you got away from the crowds at the visitor center. One of our favorite hikes of the week.

Beautiful view

This trail was great! Some ocean views along the way and a superb ocean view (108* view) at the end of the trail. Some parts were pretty muddy and some of the big root sections had little ponds of water so I was glad I wore my extra tuff tall boots. Brought my dog with me and she loved the trail too :-) when we got to the end of the trail it was sunny and warm, felt like summer! Fun trail and definitely would recommend!

This was a beautiful trail. I went with a large group of CrossFit folks. The ones leading were pretty competitive, so the pace wasn’t great. I’ll set the pace next time and try it clockwise for something different. Also doing it in October, you miss the beautiful wildflowers.

My tracker data said it’s actually 5.5 miles but elevation gain is right on. Great hike.

Gorgeous!

Nice easy hike today with my dogs. Good fresh air and the views of the bay and farmland on the other side. 4.5 miles roundtrip. Park your car in designated parking next to the farm. No discovery pass needed. Bring extra layer or windbreaker if needed.

beautiful hike with great views and lookouts. although very easy to lose the trail and get lost. don't recommend without a GPS if you are doing it for the first time.

Worth the pain of that last incline coming home just to see these beautiful mountaintops up close and personal.

Wear sturdy shoes. The trail is muddy and uneven. There aren't any guardrails along the cliff edges. Not for kids or unleashed dogs.

Hike with fantastic and unbeatable views - Rainer, to the south (Cascades, Adams), waterfalls. Didn’t the hike in 2.5 hours, with a bit of time spent on photos. Went through 0.5L of water. Plan on 1L at least. Very doable in a short period of time. Colors are past peak, but still quite nice. Only about 10 cars at Paradise when I arrived at 9am (Monday)

Previous reviews are accurate. There’s a boatload of slippery mud, but I went during a drier spell, so it really wasn’t too terribly bad. And there’s the tree roots. So many tree roots. I definitely felt the elevation gain at the end, but this is a doable hike. The view was gorgeous along the trail, but at the end, all I saw was fog. That being said, I’d still highly recommend this trail. Critters spotted along the way: one snake, one banana slug, and a couple chipmunks. This is one of those trails where everyone goes, so be prepared for lots of people and lots of dogs.

Nice hike. Was a bit muddy in places, so I’m glad to have done it after a dry weather stretch. Can’t imagine how slippery and messy it’ll be in the middle of the rainy season! Great views! Couple of scary drop off cliffs, so keep an eye on your kids and pups. Lots of people and dogs. Some uphill and some downhill, but overall quite manageable, even for someone in not great shape :)

I was not in shape to do this hike, but I'm glad I did. Spectacular views of Mt. St. Helens!

I would rate this hike 5 stars, however; I could not find the 2nd half of the trail. Ended up climbing down a rock cliff only to find that it dead ended at the beach. Had to backtrack and take another route to get back to the parking lot. Other than that, it was a great hike. Fairly easy, well maintained trails, gorgeous views and abundant wildlife.
