Summer Map

Went up last week, tons of snow and quite a bit of ice on the lower parts of the trail. Sunset was beautiful and it took 1 1/2 hrs to get up. (we were going really fast) plan for just over 2 hrs and bring spikes!

Made it the whole way with our jogging stroller. Great views and the bridge was fun. Would definitely recommend during Spring and Fall since the trail is completely exposed.

Second time hiking I love it.

A beautiful and magical hike when there's several feet of snow and even more falling. Nothing too strenuous, but it's not noted that you have to park right of the highway and hike roughly an additional .5 mile to get to the trailhead. The snow was hard packed enough that hiking boots were sufficient, though many people had snowshoes. The little climb to get to the cave where the falls are was a bit slick without any kind of spikes, but still doable.

Such a beautiful hike. Nice inclines.

There's a lot of snow still there and it gets slippery coming back down. But I personally didn't mind. It made more for the adventure!

Really quick hike. Starts through a neighborhood then works up to some stairs and a short climb. Right now you definitely need books if not spikes as there are some iced out steep runs. Good payoff for such a short, accessible spot.

Starts off going through a neighborhood. Went yesterday and it’s still covered in snow and slippery. The hike seemed very short though due to the rapid change of scenery. Kids lived it. Toddler did struggle with snow though.

One of the most beautiful hikes I've done. Nicely snowpacked for the majority of the trail, just used microspikes and carried snowshoes which were helpful for the top near the lake and walking around the lake which was frozen and snow covered. Completed 3/11/18.

We really enjoyed this hike! Brought our little guy along:)

I'm sure it's great when there is no snow. There is currently tons of slippery ice and snow! We did it but it was sketchy!

What an amazing trip up to Blanche today. The trail is hard packed all the way to the top. Snow shoes not needed to the lake but spikes are highly recommended. The sun was out and no wind. Even lugged up some ice fishing gear and landed 5 browns in only 20 min. Nothing above 10”. The action is fast due to lack of food right now I’m sure. The ice was about 4 feet deep and plenty safe. We head lumped early, but the trail was busy on our way down. Everyone was really respectful and nice and I was glad to see many people enjoying the amazing day. Happy trekking

Went up this trail 3/4/18 after a really solid snowfall in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Trail visible the first mile and a half or so from others doing some trailblazing, but then everything from there was covered in 2-3 feet of snow. Had to trailblaze with the snow to my hips but so long as you're prepared for that after a big snowfall, you'll be fine! Absolutely beautiful trail even in the winter, everything covered in white. If hiking in deep snow, make sure to check avalanche reports, have correct gear and don't go alone.

Beautiful trail, hiked it last fall and will do it again!

Awesome hike after a good snowfall. Could get away with hiking it with some good spikes. Didn’t need my snowshoes the entire time. The views were amazing at the top.

The trail is hard packed all the way to the falls. Spikes come in handy for the final accent. Really cool icicles on the falls right now.

Catching up on some reviews, so recognize that I did this hike in early September. Went with some friends to hike this on Labor day. Quite possibly the worst day to do so. The parking lot closest to the lake was filled, so we had to park at the ski lodge. We could have taken a shuttle from there to the real trailhead, but the wait was 45min+, so we started our hike from there. Very sunny, hot, and exposed for most of it, so be prepared. Also, there were so many people! This would have been much nicer if the trail wasn't so backed up. Didn't stay long at the lake because of how many others were already there. Other than the heavy traffic, this would have been a nice, short, enjoyable hike.

Pretty easy. Awesome that they would build such a fancy bridge for the BST

There was enough snow in the upper vale to make carrying the snow shoes worthwhile, crisscrossing over shallow streams and amongst the smothered boulders. Lots of little trees and awe inspiring views, from the spectacular ice falls to the crown of jagged peaks, and all the majesty of royal blue against the wintry white, black cliffs, evergreens, pussy willows, and rusty escarpments. A glorious morn!

Good snow as mentioned the trail is well packed and snowshoes are only necessary until you get close to the top. If you keep going past where everyone stops you are rewarded with fresh knee deep powder. At least until it gets tracked out

Hiked 90% in just snow boots, but should have put my snowshoes on earlier near the top. Started sinking and sliding a lot. First time in the snow for me - Much harder in the deep snow than on summer dirt. So beautiful at the bowls and pond!

Beautiful Hike! Wear layers. MicroSpikes are very very very helpful. Allow 2-3 hours to get to the top. Lake frozen, but Sundial Peak dominates the scenery. Totally worth it!

Gorgeous area ! Spectacular waterfall. It’s a must !!! I’ve hiked it a few times.

Great hike, awesome views and landscapes, great exercise. The hike wasn’t to bad, only five miles up and down, we really didn’t have any problem getting up there, except for exhaustion.
Anyway, great hike loved it!

Great hike today, needed micro spikes after the bridge for the rest of the way up it was a bit icy. Towards the top the snow gets a little thicker, just stay on the trail it’s pretty well packed. All and all great work out about a med-hard steep but manageable.

Gorgeous hike. Worth it to hike to waterfall. This was my little border collie puppy, Koa first hike...so much fun. I recommend bringing water and a snack for yourself and dog. If you have micro spikes for your hiking boots bring them. There was on spot going back with ice where we had to slide down and I had to have my boyfriend catch me because I went down super fast.

Nice and easy for the whole family. Not much water flowing and a bit of ice on the creek. The trail is clear but watch your footing on the way back down.

Took my 5y/o, 3 y/o and packed my 1 y/o on my back and they all LOVED it! Incredible views, really cool rocks (which is important when you’re a kid), and the perfect distance for kiddos. We will DEFINITELY do this one again!

The sweetest biking trail. Loved the suspension bridge. Beautifl area for seeing nature as you ride, walk or run.

Hiked up in normal hiking shoes, but snow cleats would have been a better choice. This trail is so lovely even in the winter!
