Maybe 5 mins from getting off Freeport exit (same road as Transfer station). Limited parking (on the side of the road), but wasn't packed for a Saturday around 3pm. Trails are well groomed and marked. Saw 2 other dogs while hiking (all off leash). There's a few little trails to follow - We went up the summit trail and looped around (about 1.3 miles). At the top of the summit trail there's a bench and map to show what mountains your looking at. Across the street there's some more trails. Sign posted at the very beginning warning to wear orange hunters may be in area. We followed the big loop trail to the back side of the ball park and then turned around. Saw 2 other dogs (off leash). Our total round trip (both sides) was 2.25 Miles!

Amazing hike to hojo’s. Steady climb the entire 2.4 miles. Great views.

Good set of trails. 3 main trails and a number of other unofficial trails.

Watch out if you are trying to go on yellow the whole way the bridges are out so it may be best to avoid for a bit.

hadn't done yet. looking forward to the climb in late May. wish me luck I don't get eaten by lion, tiger and bears.... oh my.

Nice little hike. The green trail was a little too steep for the two 10 year old boys we had with us, but the rest of the hike was nice.

Nice little hike on a lovely April day. I'm sure much prettier later in the spring or fall.

Excellent hike with a spectacular view from many spots. Some sort of large bird nest near the summit and saw two large white tail deer near the top. LOVED this hike!

Super short, but a great view of MT. Washington :) there are also some trails worth hiking across the road..

Fantastic views. Good for all hiking levels.

Found hard in areas. Started at cog railroad. It took me seven hours.

Hiked in April of 2016. amazing views all the way up. theres a dip in elevation between peaks so be aware. took about 2 and a half up. Great hike.

FYI trail is closed . April 1st - May either 1st or 31st , we drove over and hour and 1/2 to find this out. We were there yesterday which was March 31st and it was closed !

Well marked trail, nice hike

Easy hike, fabulous views, especially considering the effort.

Did a winter hike yesterday before the big nor'eastern came in today. I started at the parking area for old speck/eyebrow and Appalachian trails which is labeled hiking trail parking on the west side of Maine Route 26. Took the Appalachian trail for 3.5 miles, then came to Old Speck trail on the left and followed that .3 miles to summit. (I logged 7.6 miles...not sure why 6.6 miles is listed above) Hike can be steep at times (specially with over a foot of snow) crampons are a must. Some decent over looks during the first section of the hike. Summiting took about 2 hours in the snow. Not great views because the storm had made its way in, however the trees were gorgeous covered in snow.

This is great hike for kids & adults. Views are awesome!
Parking can be tricky on busy days.

This was my first time hiking this trail, highly recommend giving it a try. Phone battery died when we reached the hut.

Did it in June tough haul, and in Feb to hermits hut, pack snow temp in 40’s easy like a paved highway and going down on soft pack edges easier!

The South Face Loop is VERY challenging in snow shoes for a newbie!
I will return!

This was a great trail. We are beginners and found it well worth the hike to see the falls. They were completely frozen where we were standing on the falls. next time we need to complete the loop. Weather was getting a bit gloomy this day.

Two inches of fresh powder. Perfect day.

I went on a rather cold day a few weeks ago and broke trail. I would not consider this trail hard. I did the loop, coming from Arethusa Falls. It’s rather moderate, considering other trails in the area. It was hard only because we had to break trail, almost the entire loop. Although now there is probably mostly ice left..

Amazing, beautiful hike! Very ICY! Take proper precautions

Completed July 2017. Took Tuckerman’s Ravine to Lion Head Trail and onward to summit Mt. Washington. Breathtaking views. Hard trail, cloudy at the summit, with clouds breaking slightly.

Attempted July 2017. We didn’t make it to the top- got caught in a rain storm and the trail was quickly deteriorating, so we decided to turn back. Awesome views, crossing the river was a bit hard, both me and my friend got a bit damp from it.

The views are incredible. Be advised that currently on the southwest trail it’s slabs on slabs of ice. You will want micro spikes for sure. Great challenge though. Definitely going back

Pleasant walk except for having too many biting insects.

groomed winter trails!! lovely in the woods or field.

I have done this hike countless times and it never gets old.

Very short trail. it is a municipal park basically, having said that it is good for families with children, dogs, or those with limited time in my case it was a nice diversion while my wife shopped.
only a very short drive from 'LL Bean.
