Nice trail, well marked. Becoming popular. Be sure to talk softly if you want to catch wildlife in the area and to be considerate of other hikers.

I definitely recommend going down the hilly trail first, ending with the look out point and hill up to the exit if you want an easier route. Steep waterfall filled trails are breathtaking but can be extremely slippery when wet. Hike with caution!

About as good of a view as one can find in Illinois!

If you go off the trail.... you will reach the bluff view there isn’t a real worn path, but beautiful view!!! Check out the photos!

good change in elevation. Well marked and maintained. Peaceful walk along some creaks.

This is a challenging but fun trail. Lots of great scenic view points. Great for the whole family. Very pet friendly.

This is an easy paved trail with enough scenery. The shut-ins are very pretty. We like hiking part of the connected US Forest service trail too.

Nothing out of the ordinary kind of trail. Trail is well marked.

Large parking lot that sometimes fills up. Very popular for good reason, great hike!!! Unless you go early (sunrise) or late ( sunset) there is a crowd. One of the best hikes in Shawnee and a “ must do”

Fun hike. A little crowded. Great for kids. Lots of side trails to explore.

Awesome trail. My favorite place to go within an hour of Saint Louis. Very clean and scenic.

Hiked in the winter, 35 degrees. Trail is well traveled and marked, easy to see even while covered in leaves. Some trail markers are faded and few grown over into the trees and it also has 2 red trail markers in the loop portion. Some small trees fallen across trail (nothing to big to step over), but I was out there in winter. With the connecting trails you make the hike as long as you like!! Overall a great trail to hike!!

Drive 45 minutes often to this trail because it’s so beautiful and neat. Definitely recommend to everyone!!

Fun and beautiful trail

One of the best views of the park!

Did First Day Hike here with naturalist Eric from Missouri State Parks. He was so knowledgable and made this beautiful trail even more enjoyable. Second time we have been to to park. First time on this trail. Canyons and sandstone bridge are so pretty. We will come back.

What a wonderful trail. Easy to follow trail and beautiful views. I recommend this trail to everyone.

Nice trail with good views of the sandstone bluffs.

One of my favorite places to go. When you catch it at a good time, the waterfall is amazing. It’s a very easy walk (and short) to get to the back, and once you are there you will want to stay and enjoy it!

Easy trail and absolutely amazing hike!

Spend time camping in this area. Backpacking is good here, though I had trouble finding the primitive camping spots.... and the trails keep you moving and looking for more!
The sunsets are beautiful and the stars are bright here.

Great rock formations

Amazing hike..!!!

A great trail for quick hike. Great scenery!!

Go to the left, clockwise to get to the canyon quicker. I have walked both down in the canyon and the path on the rim. Each are very pretty. when you make your way out of the canyon area there is a cutoff which will take you back to the trailhead in about 10 minutes. The rest of the main trail meanders thru the woods, over the ridge and through some smaller rock formations for at least another hr or so. Very pretty.
