Great hike, but you may have to swim a small section to get to the tide pools. We will def come back with swim suits so we can get across to the tide pools next time.

Nice moderate hike, some cool places on the way

Virtual Hike: https://youtu.be/L2FjhaqYPdo

Having lived in the area for my whole life and playing golf at the golf course just south of the trailhead, I’d never explored this portion of the arroyo. The trail starts at the San Pasqual Stables and loops around at the colorado street bridge and 134 highway in Pasadena. The trail is fairly straight and level, but there are offshoots that allow hikers and trail runners to enjoy some more nature scenery. There are several bridges to pass under, constructed with a cool old style. As the trail loops around, the colorado street bridge is magnificent; it’s much bigger than the two smaller bridges down the trail. There is a little dam and refuge for ducks just beyond the bridge. As you travel back there is an archery range trail that can be taken, which adds a bit more of the natural vibe to the trail. Stay on the trail, and don’t get shot! The trail is fairly heavily trafficked but it didn’t seem too busy. Watch out for horse droppings. I definitely recommend this trail. It’s easy, easy to get to, and reasonably flat for beginners.

Hope you enjoy!

Nice hike with friends. Saw a couple deer and a few turtles

An easy short hike but very enjoyable. A great warm up hike. It’s nice to find water in the creek and an actual flowing falls this time of year. We did this hike and then moved on to Crystal Lake and did the Windy Gap Trail.

Very easy trail with a little waterfall at the end. I recommend if you want more of a workout to park at the bottom of the parking lots and walk up the roads :)

A nice and easy trail to a beautiful beach

The Ferndell loop was a great start to a great day of hiking! Got to see different wildlife and little streams. Great for kids, pets, etc. and you might even spot a celebrity along the way!

Definitely a walking trail that has many turns anf will make you want to sprint to see what’s at the end of the path. You can see the Hollywood sign, but unfortunately the trail doesn’t lead to it.

Still has running water down falls but stream trickles out fast through out hike. Falls r fairly busy. Lots of places to hang out at falls area. Perfect for your lil ones did it wait my 4 year old he loved it

Basically a flat walk on a paved utility road. But - pretty mountain and lake scenery, nice vibe. Good walk for single females wanting to be safe, there are plenty of people around, including park rangers. There is an additional trail to the east that branches off near the southern end of the lake and goes up to Mulholland Drive if you want more of a workout.

One of the first hikes I’ve done in L.A. Love the observatory so this easy hike is a given. At night you get the full E.T. View from near the top. At the bottom during the day you can stop at Trails cafe. Great spot to take visitors from out of town.

Easy-hike. Near by.

Nice hike.. not much elevation gain .. we found the MASH set and took tons of pictures!

Cool trail

Easy hike with good incline. Love this hike up to the observatory for sunset

Fairly easy hike on a well-trafficked trail with plenty of shade and places to stop and rest. My 14mo had fun playing in the steam.

This was my first hiking trip in a decade (since I was a Girl Scout) and it was beautiful. Very light and easy, brought my pup with me and he had a blast. Although I mistook the Calabasas Peak Trail for the Cold Creek Preserve a whole mile in, I made my way back down and found the correct trail. The sun didn’t come out till about 10, it was cool and misty and very friendly people on the trail. I would recommend for both dogs and kids, we even saw a harmless snake trek across the trail. Can’t wait to go back again!

Very easy and short trail. Started at about 7:30 am on a holiday weekend Sunday and it was light traffic going in. But by the time we were heading out around 8:45, there was already a moderate amount of people heading up the trail. I imagine this trail gets very crowded. The waterfall was taller than I expected and still had plenty of water. The trail is very shaded which makes it very pleasant, especially for my pup who overheats with sun exposure. I would love to try this trail in the spring, because I imagine there’d be a lot of blooms.

A couple small parking lots with a $5 fee to get in. But that means no adventure pass necessary. The park opens at 7 am on weekends and I believe later during weekdays.

Get there early to enjoy a nice, cool, easy hike and a beautiful lake at the end of the trail .

Not too exciting, other than being close to the Hollywood sign.

Easy and nice. Always feel safe here even at night.

Super easy hike. I usually jog there from my apt since I live nearby. The caves are really to look at. Plus, it is the original BATCAVE

Lovely easy peasy hike. Not exactly Niagara, but still quite beautiful. Lots of trees and shade the entire hike.

Came early in the middle of the week and was able to find parking pretty easily on Ferndell. Beginning of the hike was nicely shaded, but the majority of the trail up to Griffith Observatory was not. Pretty much a steady incline up to the top, but great views from the observatory and bathrooms at the top! Was a breeze to go back down the hill. Able to see the Hollywood sign and on nice days able to see downtown LA.
