Super easy to get to. The "trail" is actually a road. The view at the lookout is beautiful. Its a must do if you live in Eastern Washington.

Beautiful hike, the Tamaracks are splendidly golden this time of year and the view of lake Pend Orielle from the summit is spectacular. That being said, I cannot overstate the fact that this hike is RELENTLESSLY UPHILL. There are very few spots where the path levels out and those moments are few and far between, so for that reason alone I would bump this up from moderate to hard. I’m in pretty decent shape and it was a struggle, definitely a thigh-burner!

A bit uphill but definitely worth it when you get to the top.

Beautiful in Fall

We parked at the Sargent ave lot and there was broken glass everywhere at the trailhead. There was also trash (literally busted open bags on bags). We did a mile long loop and basically had no idea where we were going the whole time due to poorly marked trails. There was also an off leash dog wandering pretty far from its owner and kept storming up on our leashed dog. You can also hear the highways clear as day. Although the landscape and view is pretty, this park needs some serious TLC.

fun for an easy afternoon hike

This is a great trail in the Spring or Fall. If you start along the creek it is shady and the incline is gradual. Definately take the south loop to see Rocks of Sharon and views of the Palouse. The east rim offers more sunshine and views of the Spokane Valley and beyond.

great quick hike. my 5 yr old daughter has no troubles on any of the trails, and trails are well defined. we go here often!

I loved how many signs there were. I definitely felt like there was no way I was going to get lost and that was awesome. The view from the top was pretty sweet too.

Such a awesome view at the top! Over looking all of the Spokane Valley

It’s absolutely stunning in the fall. 10/10

Love this hike especially when you reach the top and have a beautiful view of CDA lake. There is also some history to read and share about the trail. I also liked that the trail markers were clearly visable throughout the hike and the trails .

this trail is so beautiful at the moment! the fall colors are incredible. it's a nicely varied trail and a comfortable work out. I loved the views of the north side! we cant wait to bike it.

EDIT: previous commenter is correct about the distance change. close to 6 miles

Super Fun little hike. I live here and hike Mineral a ton! Never get tired of it
Lake views are awesome!

Steeper than I expected. One for people who like the stair machines at the gym. But not too long. Beautiful Autumn colors. Beware of the three "ankle turner" rock fields near the top. First about 150 meters in length, the other two shorter. Forget looking at the scenery when traversing these rock fields. You have to watch where you step. Trail easy to follow, even through the rocks. Yesterday was cold and drizzly, so the summit was in the clouds, therefore, no views.

Love that you can change the difficulty or trail views to the top! Enjoyed a beer at the lookout with a good friend- was a wonderful day!

Great trail with phenomenal views of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake and into the Prairie.

Started from the Steven's Trailhead on the Rose of Sharon trail, which for someone out of shape wasn't the best because it was all an uphill climb & at times, rather steep. (wasnt aware of the rise in elavation). Definitely needs better trail markers.

This is a great trail, I hiked it yesterday in a little over 2 hours and 10 minutes. I love how diverse the landscape is! I will mention don’t start the loop by following the river, it turns into a LONG uphill climb vs heading out away from the river is more gradual then steep switchbacks for about half a mile. Right now the colors are stunning and the river was beautiful!

The view wow

Nice spot to stretch your legs after doing the scenic route around the lake.

Great hike. My gps says it’s closer to 7 mi. round trip. Always beautiful.

Great fun hike. close to town. excellent sunset last night!

The view at the top is amazing! Mountains as far as the eye can see! My kids have done this trail three times with me, it’s uphill but not terribly bad.

Great trail, clearly marked. The bees were certainly out in abundance for this day at the beginning of the trail, but not aggressive so no worries. The views were outstanding, especially in and around the the Rocks... well worth the drive for this one.

Pretty blah but something different. Was more easy than moderate of a hike.

Beautiful trail. Steep sections but totally do able. Views are amazing.

Very nice hike with beautiful views of the
Lake!! Trail was pretty well maintained dirt trail and grade was definitely manageable.

Pros: Close to Spokane, gradual incline, leads to impressive vistas at Rocks of Sharon area, good for trail running Cons: Not very challenging, can be dry and hot in summer,
A friend and I did this route late in the evening in early Sep. 2018. The actual hike itself is pretty easy, and the access road is very well marked and paved. The trail ascends parallel to the creek of its namesake for a ways, then breaks out into some short switchbacks, then you follow a ridge towards the Rocks of Sharon area, which offers some impressive vistas of the land where the forest meets the Palouse of Washington. We managed to watch the sunset from here, then followed the continuation of the loop , using headlamps, through scrub brush back to the trailhead. This would be an ideal trail for trail running, and/or an alternate access to Rocks of Sharon that is closer to Spokane. For someone looking for a spectacular trail with significant ascent, this does not offer that.
