3 bc this is just for the river walk, but 5 for the narrows. Bottom-Up isn’t an option to review on this app. A previous trip I did the river walk bc my friend wasn’t a big hiker plus the conditions borderline that time of year. The paved HC accessible route just not for me and wasn’t at all a good impression of what Zion has to offer. The longer harder hikes are a game changer for those capable and willing to work a little. Anyways this was one of 7 back to backI hikes I did in a 6 day period between Bryce and Zion. I rented gear and at this time of year there’s not a crowd in the river (and Subway permit odds extremely high if you do a two day gear rental). A few times you have no option but to be waist deep so the full drysuit was reassuring even though many times I was too warm. Walking stick very helpful to test depth and determine direction of walking or at times when the extra sturdiness helpful bc of the current.

Fun playful trail and scenic destination. If I wasn’t hiking solo I would have tried going a little further into the slots once it became shoulder depth pools. Most of the river was at most knee depth but most of the time not actually walking in it but switching from one side thru to the other. Being the second week of December only 4-5 permits were requested which made you feel like the trail was all yours. Rented neoprene socks and dry suit for 2 days since I did Narrows the next day and rental is 50% second day. Didn’t need the top til the Narrows so I just tied the sleeves around my waist so I wouldn’t have to bother exchanging pants for suit for day 2

Paved path with lots of areas to walk down to the river. We went Dec 12th and it wasn't too crowded. Great way to see the beginning of the narrows and looking up all you see is canyon walls. There was also dirt paths by the river you could walk but you do have to come up to the paved path at some points. We also saw the dipper bird! Very beautiful and peaceful hike, easy and wheelchair assable.

One of the hardest but great scenery on the top of mountain.

Absolutely breath taking!

Super fun trail. Took the route of starting at the Primitive trail and ending with Devils Garden Main trail. Personally I found this to be nice because I went up the steep rock on primitive and not down it, which I was told many people turn around at that point. I will say though if going in the winter and planning on taking the same route, have ice spikes or chains. The Main Trail was icy around 2pm. The whole loop took me 4 hours and that includes stopping for lunch at Dark Angel and getting lost for about a half mile while looking for the Main Trail. Good hike all in all.

This hike was everything everybody said it would be, and more. Perfect weather and trail conditions.

Beautiful sights, challenging hike and uplifting experience!

Great hike. We started at 7 am and finished by 2 pm. No wild life . Saw 2 birds and 1 fish

Great views! Unfortunatly for us, we have to avoid last sector by icy.
For me one of the best perspectives.

Most exhilarating hike ever!

Beautiful view from the top! Well worth the effort. My then 7 year old was a little nervous about the narrow top portion of the hike, but she toughed it out and wasn’t scared once we were at the wide and mostly flat top of the peak.

We hiked AL on Dec. 1st. 2018. We could not have asked for better weather. The condition of the tral was excellent. I would recommend checking the forecast, have good hiking shoes or boots and bring plenty of water and protein. Bars/bananas etc. The view from the top and also along the way is phenomenal. Cheers.

Loved this hike! If you can climb a ladder, this is DEFINITELY worth it to check out. Way less crowded than the NPs, and gorgeous views all around.

beautiful hike, way too crowded though. Very easy, and paved. Watch out for the squirrels. They make it impossible to stop for a snack :-)

A quick and short hike. The views of the arches are beautiful, a nice brisk fall day to be out on the trail.

Great trail but it is a little iffy if you have big dogs. We took our golden and he LOVED it. The rock wall you have to climb and the ladder were too much for him and I couldn’t lift all 85 lbs of him up it. The rest in our party made it up fine to see the remaining 1/4 mile and you can still see the arches from the area right before the wire guide climb.

So glad we did it. Met a fellow full-timer on the trail and talked for an hour afterwards as we gazed at the AMAZING amount of stars.

I did this trail 2 days ago without really knowing what I was getting myself into. My two friends had a permit they got months ago and I added onto it the day before which was great but I didn’t have the opportunity to do much research. The other reviewers on here are really down playing the difficulty level of this trail. With numbers like 7 miles and 1200’ of elevation change I thought this would be a breeze but I was happily surprised by the challenging terrain. After the 400’ incline getting down the canyon you are in and out of walking in the river, along with constantly climbing over boulders the entire way up. The way back kept the fun going until you get back to the wall you have to climb up to get out of the canyon. This hike was a challenge that I enjoyed every minute of! Definitely now one of my all time favorite hikes. I was very happy I rented dry pants and neoprene socks for this trail although at the beginning I questioned if that decision was really necessary. I am usually a fast hiker but this trail took me a full 8 hours with very few breaks!

Amazing. I am a teensy bit scared of heights, but easily made it over the double o fin with a bit of hand holding and a whole lottta confidence.

This is by far an impressive hike! The primitive loop is well worth it. Truly gorgeous.

Absolutely worth a visit while you’re in Moab! Not as crowded as Arches NP and you get some great panoramas from various parts of the trail. Enjoy!

Awesome experience!!! I loved everything about this hike!!

Nice short walk along the river. Accessible for wheelchairs as fully pathed. Is very heavily trafficked. If want to go far into the narrows you can hire waterproof boot and trousers from the visitor centre for the next day.

Amazing rewarding hike to angels landing, with the 360 views at the top making the uphill struggle worth it. Is strenuous with Steep incline to the top with lots of switchbacks and with the final kilometre having chains to help up to the top of angels landing along a steep ridge. Definitely not for those scared of heights. Took us about 2 hours to get to the top but took plenty of rest stops along the way and about an 1.5 down. To get to trailhead there is shuttle bus service as the road is for shuttle bus only but buses come every few minutes and run until after sunset. The trail was very busy even in mid November.

great easy hike. if you have a dog there is a ladder and metal cable climb. I would recommend a pack with a handle for the dog as it made it simple to pull her up. I went at 8am and had the trail to myself!

Really beautiful hike. Moderate in terms of the physical effort. Hard if you’re scared of heights.

Great hike. Rent the gear, it is worth it. The farther you go up the less people you encounter. We went as far as you can go without a permit which is Big Spring. Start earlier rather than later to enjoy more time exploring as it gets dark early in the narrow canyon.

Perfect hike for kids and older parents. crowded though so go earlier in day rather than later.

On the Devils tour this week. Came in for the day and even tho we started the hike at 2:00 (a bit later than I planned) we finished up right before sunset and the light was magical.

Fun hike on Thanksgiving.

This is an easy trail. A couple climbs using a cable rope and a short ladder but still easy. It’s about 2.5 miles round trip to the arch so wear the right shoes. Very worthwhile.
