This is a perfect, pretty easy/ moderate hike to spend a couple hours enjoying the Rogue River and it’s beautiful bends and rapids! Great for the pups, and when the salmon are coming through in October/ November they’re really a sight to see trying to jump up the falls!!

Don't know why it's rated hard. It's a pretty easy, fairly flat trail. About a third of it burned and it's horrendous with mosquitoes from May-August. Other than that it's a nice easy trail.

A beautiful 3 hour hike with much to see! the summit is just under 6k ft with spectacular views, including mt. Shasta

This was a beast of a hike! We did it Nov 18th on a beautiful Sunday. We overdressed and had to shed layers on the way up. The first few miles are on a nice trail and pretty easy, then you get to the rocks. The trail is marked by white dots on rocks and some ribbons on trees. We lost the trail both on the way up and back down which added to our trip and involved climbing more rocks and crossing a scree field. We did a little over 10 miles out and back in about 6hr 45min. We spent a little time at the "false summit" to eat and then continued on up to the top. Beautiful views and totally worth it, but be prepared for a battle. This is a mountain and you best be prepared to climb rocks using all 4's.

the views were pretty but driving up the hill to get to the hike almost wasn’t worth it- extremely steep street. all uphill which provides a nice little challenge but the view wasn’t spectacular. good hike but probably wouldn’t do it again.

I found this a pretty hard hike going up. But the views were worth it!

PLEASE NOTE: There is no longer access to a trailhead on Upper Applegate Road--the area previously used as a trailhead is private property, and the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest does not currently have an easement. Please respect the landowner's wishes and access from the upper reaches of the trail. This piece of private property is again up for sale, so it's possible the Forest Service will have another opportunity to obtain an easement.

Easy trails with lots of folks hiking. It’s so close to Jacksonville that it’s easy to access.

Very busy trail. It’s a moderately steep, but short hike to the top. Nice view of the Rouge Valley up there!

We went in mid October and the views of Shasta and the valley were very beautiful! It's an easy hike with lots of trails to explore.

The views are outstanding and the hike is fairly easy. Great for a day hike!

I went here multiple times growing up and loved the hike! The views from the top are amazing and the unique flowers are really cool to observe. An easy day hike.

A challenging hike with a rewarding view at the top! We went in the winter and it was cold and snowy at the top. Very beautiful.

Did not make it to the trailhead. The road off of highway 140 has a private property access gate (11/23/2018) that is closed to vehicles but is open to foot traffic. Didn't make the trek on the closed road by foot and opted to access by Varney Creek instead.

Lovely running loop

I would love to try my bike on this one!

This is more of a (very) long drive than a hike to a lookout tower...

This is a steep trail that offers good views of the valley!

Some great views very nice hike and bike trails

Trail is damaged from fire, mudslides and couldn’t find the crossing point to continue hike past first 1/3 mile. Wait until summer for this or it gets cleaned/cleared up.

great hike with the family and pups!

Nice fairly level trail with graceful curves along the river. A few benches viewpoints to enjoy the river. Freeway noise remind you you’re not in the wilderness Good for a slow bicycle cruise or a walk.

The views are amazing. I’ve been here a few times and every time is easier than the last time. Moderate is accurate. Usually it gets a little bit crowded and sometimes I think is overrated.

This a pretty romantic place. It has saved me several times when I want to hike something close and do some good workout at the same time. You can take several alternative trails to the way up to make the hike a little bit harder.

I finally finished this trail and didn’t like it. It took me two hours to complete it both ways and the end of the trail is just what it looks like a parking lot. You cannot go further that point because it is only for bikers. I’ll try not to take Cay Walk next time.

Great hike especially in the warmer months. The hike up the hill is mostly shaded by large trees. The view is great. I suggest taking the left side of the loop out and back, as the highest point is uneventful and not a view point.

This hike has a marked as “easy” but half of the hike is on the flat top and half a steady climb over 1.2 miles. I was wearing sneakers and my toes really hurt by the end. Also there is NO water at the trailhead or on the hike, so bring it with you. Views are wonderful. Also dogs are not allowed on the trail or top but many people don’t listen to this request.

we hiked this Trail on Monday November 12th Veterans Day Holiday. it was a moderate Trail. it is a little bit Rocky in spots being dry out we didn't have any problem with slipping. it was a perfect time of the year to go no poison oak no bugs and a smaller amount of people hiking. would recommend is Trail to everybody

very nice trail, meets up with catwalk and a couple others
