Great trail. Missed a fork. Poison oak in patches.

Pretty great hike. First 3/4 was quite basic. The last leg and the rock climb was a bit harder than anticipated. The last leg was the steepest, as you can see from the topographical map. The climb was a bit sketchy. Two puzzles (first was easy, second was a pain), then steep stairs with a lot of loose gravel, so be slow and steady.

Great long hike, easy assension to the top. Amazing views. Family and Dog friendly, easy parking too.

Well maintained trail that passes 3 lakes in 3 miles. Trail to Horseshoe Lake is not marked. At the far end of Blue Lake, make a right. Tough climb back out to the parking area, but overall I agree with the moderate rating. Beautiful Fall colors today and only passed 1 other group.

Fantastic hike! Great workout, beautiful views and the view at the top is worth the effort. I was hesitant to climb up the rocks at the end and make my way around the ridge, but with some encouragement from other hikers I decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did.

Great hike with worthwile views from the top! Seriously amazing. Not super hard but it’ll def increase your heart rate. GPS measures it closer to 11 miles. Well-maintained and easy to follow. When the trail forks in 3 different directions, go left!

Great workout and we had great weather. No wildlife spotted and views are limited to the open spaces. At the top, fabulous! The first third is strenuous due to gradient but the surface is great. Well marked path with options towards the top.
Lunch at the top is great.
We traveled to the trail head by RV- not recommended! The last 7 miles is gravely and narrow in places with logging trucks and a few hunters. Still a great day out.

Good hike for our puppies first trek, but many trail markers were missing or down making it difficult to map. Easy, clean trails would be good for kids

Put this off a couple of months ago because of the heat as well as the fires decided to go out today and I was not disappointed it is an awesome Trail.. 10-13-18 ... too bad I can't post pictures at the moment lol

Saturday, 10-13-2018: This is a nice hike with a well-maintained trail. I was the second person on the trail at 7am in the morning. Made it to the top just as the sun was rising. For the most part it's a constant incinde until you get to the top, which is flat. Because of this, I would say it's more of a moderate hike than an easy one. There is a ton of room to roam around and explore once at the top. I saw a family of deer about 10 minutes into the hike, but not many other animals other than birds the rest of the way. Definitely recommend this hike.

Excellent hike. Some beautiful views and a pretty easy trail.

Amazing views at every mile!

simply fantastic!

absolutely loved it!!

One of my favorites. The views are amazing. You have wonderful views from Ashland and Medford. You can see the stunning Mt. Shasta and Pilot Rock, so amazing! It is hard, but totally worth it!! Don’t go after 4:00, because you will encounter totally darkness in the way back :). It takes like 4.30 hours to complete it both ways. Don’t forget to sign the book!

Easy hike with not much for views. The small Squaw Lake is nice at 2 mile turn around. Ignore the start of trail shown in this app. The trail is marked with a sign on edge of parking lot, but this app has you start across the road and walk through several campsites unnecessarily. Follow the black dashed lines shown on the base map.

Wonderful! Would love to come back in the spring.

It would be a mistake to believe that this trail flattens out after the first 3 miles...it definitely does not do that. It's a tough 5 miles up. We had a smokey view but it was a really satisfying hike that got the legs burning all the way up! So disappointed in people when you see the amount of trash along this trail, definitely not the Oregon spirit to be so disrespectful toward our natural resources.

9.29.18: This was my first hike in Southern Oregon. What a beautiful view from the top! So worth the uphill climb! We sat on the lava rocks right at the edge and ate lunch. The view was a little impacted by the smoke but we could still see a lot of the valley and surrounding hills and mountains. Bring your sunscreen for the top trek as the sun can be strong on a good day! No sightings of wildlife other than small lizards and maybe one rabbit. This is a great trail for geocaches. We didn't realize it until we were near the parking lot on our way down and found one on the Old Savannah Trail. There are quite a few benches to have a rest on this trail. We utilized them well. :)

We didn't get to climb Pilot Rock as we were in the middle of a rain/hail storm, but we got pretty close and the whole way was beautiful! We saw bear on the trail that ran off when it saw us. Water was scarce.

Hike for good exercise and the views of the rock ledge at end of mountain are amazing! Once you get to the “peak” keep going because the views aren’t there they are past the peak on a trail that takes you to the over look. Great exercise for moderate hikers and spectacular views!

Beautiful hike. Uphill the majority if the way, wouldn't call it any easy hike. Definately worth it though!

WEDNESDAY, 9/19/18, WAS A PREFECT DAY ON THE L. ROCK. IT WAS COOL AND SUNNY--THE UPHILL FROM THE PARKING LOT TO THE "TABLE" SEEMED SHORT, THOUGH NOT EASY. THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS WERE SHADES OF WASHED-OUT SKY COLORS. A HINT OF SMOKE ALONG THE i-5 CORRIDOR WAS THE ONLY SIGN OF THE SUMMER FIRES AND THE AIR WAS SWEET-SMELLING AND FRESH. OUR HIKING GROUP--5 TODAY--CAUGHT SIGHT OF A BUSHY TAILED MAMMAL THAT, GONE IN AN INSTANT, LOOKED AND MOVED LIKE A GRAY FOX.

Squaw lake is a gem. Trails are wide so whole family could ride around together or enough room to share with others. There were a couple of rope swings to jump in the lake for a refreshing swim. We swam with fish and skipped rocks. Definitely going back again.

beautiful views and interesting pink trees. VERY steep!

awsome views of the valley!
