Fun trail and hike with good views. It's a pretty easy hike if you do any real hiking.

My daughter and I were first timers this morning and really enjoyed this hike. Steep, rocky climbs for a great workout and wonderful views especially at the summit. Parking is easy. The only downside is hearing the highway almost all throughout the hike.

Beautiful view! People of all ages can do this one. It's the perfect hike as part of a day trip. Swing by Julian after for apple pie and cider.

Easy, fun and beautiful. I’ll go back in a Heartbeat ❤️

Third time doing this trail on a stunning 48 degree day. Hard enough to keep you warm and cool enough to stop and lounge on a few of the big boulders. Amazing 360 degree views from the top.

Best 4.5 mile workout in North County. The longer route around the back by the water tower is undulating and cardio busting! The front side is shorter but consistently steep most of the way. Great views from every part of the trail. Watch for rattlesnakes year round. They’ll not bother you but keep an eye on the trail at all times so you don’t surprise one.

I enjoyed this hike very much! Easy, fun switchbacks, well maintained trail, however lots of hikers on the weekend. Astonishing views at the top of the summit! The space at the top is very small and can get crowded quickly. My guy and I did a quick walk thru than found a quiet spot on a rock away from the crowd to enjoy our view and snack. Please be mindful to share the space at the top of the summit for others to also enjoy the beautiful view. No need for you to hang out there 20min to talk about BS as others are coming thru. And please keep your dog on a leash. Parking $10 Paso Picacho Picnic abs Campground.

Easy quick hike. Stayed awhile taking pics. Towards the end u have to go to the right and the heart rock is at the bottom.

Did the loop with my pupper today. Brought a lot of water and cool temps. Not super scenic but easy to access and an excellent workout trail.

Such a beautiful and easy hike!!!!

i love the trail, it is a little bit hard but the view is amazing

Good hike and great scenic views. I could feel the oxygen start to thinner out on my way up. I shouldnt have hiked alone but no one would dare go with me especially at a high level. Be careful when climbing up the rocks as they start to be slippery with ice building up. Overall it was worth it.

Did it on 11/17 and had perfect weather!! Chilly up top, slight breeze but I still had a T-shirt on.

We took our 4 year old and it was an easy hike for all of us. Went on black friday. Crowd was average and we did not have any problems finding parking. The creek has very less water at this time of the year, so there was no waterfall near the heart rock. Nevertheless, a beautiful hike through the forest. The heart rock itself is fascinating to view. Would love to go again in spring.

Great hike! Then head into Julian for lunch

Great incline to get your heart rate going. My tracker read 4.5 miles and 150 floors climbed.... we did take the Right path at the fork which included some great inclines. Great workout!!!

wow. it's a great workout. definitely not recommended for beginners. very nice and rocky area. comfortable shoes required. I will be back again.

Did this trip in August. Absolutely loved it! Beautiful scenery! First backpacking experience. Camped midway which was fun and hiked to peak next day. The altitude was a new challenge, but not too hard. A wonderful getaway!

it was a pleasant view! totally recommend it!

Did it on 11/17/18 very nice weather just a bit chilly at times .

Spectacular views. Can be hard for folks who take time in adjusting to altitude low pressure at 10k ft

Short but a good workout especially the loop trip. Steep and rutted trail with a lot of traffic. Views from the peak are great. Not much shade, early mornings are best IMO. Plenty of parking. No fee but donations are appreciated.

Great trail we went with our 2.5 yo that was able to do the bulk of the trail and we we're able to carry her the rest of the way.

Hike this regularly. It's my outdoor gym, gets me ready ready for bigger and better things!

nice hills, good distance, good work out, just not much of a scenery.

Very nice!

Great hike in our local mountains!! Easy trail to follow. Challenging going up, but quick recovery on the down. Watch out for mountain bikers!!

A good training trail to maintain stamina and balance. Choose the loop route to the summit, reverse to the cross, then back to the summit.

A nice bit of ups and downs...

When you need a trail to get you back into it after a 2 month summer hibernation. Off to Cuyamaca

This is an amazing hike through what I would consider a cactus garden and although at parts you are walking basically in the streambed, it is not a difficult hike. The views are well worth going for, as well as the scenery of the Joshua trees and the other cactus plants. Parking is right off the main road so lock up all valuables.
A Virtual Treadmill video of this hike can be seen on my YouTube Channel, copy and paste link below to watch it. Thanks.
