Great to drive and bike, not hike. Lots of history, Al Capone and gangsters. I drive it a couple of times a year. Lots of places to stop and enjoy nature. Plenty of gators and snakes so heads up.

Great trail for Bikes, hiking it is a bit challenging due to length. Its paved so it gets hot. A lot of gators, thats a main attraction. Also great for bird watching. A lot of tourists. If you have an everglades yearly pass you can use it. Bike rentals, guided tours and office with vending machines.

It is very popular.

I have a 3 month old and am trying to take him hiking once a week. I grew up visiting Oleta Park but mostly for the kayaking, this my first time hiking the trails!

We really enjoyed waking in the park. There are a few trails that are possible to do with stroller near the beach.

The mountain biking/hiking trails cannot be done with a stroller. These hikes were fun but we did get lost a few times so just stay aware :)

There is no water on the trail so make sure to bring your own!

This was a really nice trail for road biking. Pavement was smooth and even and there were lots and lots of alligators along the way. We quit counting at 50. Tons of wildlife to see including various birds, turtles, etc. etc. Halfway down the trail is the observation tower. It is really nice to look out over the area. However, be aware, you must leave your bike at the entrance to the tower. Do not leave anything with zippers. The crows have learned how to open the zippers and they will take whatever is inside your zippered pouch. When I got back to my bike they had opened my zippered pouch and were pulling out my bike tool kit. I stopped them just before they flew away with it. They are very, very smart. The second half of the ride back is a little boring, not as much wildlife but a nice smooth ride nonetheless. You will enjoy this ride. I would not recommend it in the summer, but the temperature was perfect for a January ride. Also, it was pretty crowded at 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday and we had to wait at the entrance for about 15 to 20 minutes to be let in to get a parking space.

This is an awesome trail that I would recommend for anyone. The best time to go is in the the morning as you will see more wildlife and it’s not as hot. The one downfall is that there isn’t much shade so I would recommend bringing a hat and sunscreen.

Lots of alligators esp in the winter. The return side is kind of boring.

You have to rent a bike, not at all worth hiking cause it’s not a hiking trail, but rather a paved 15 mile loop that has tour buses going through every so often. Lots of aligators and herons. Hot AF no shade. Just whatever

We originally were going to rent bikes and ride the trail, however ended up taking a 2 hour tram tour. We are so glad we did. The guides were knowledgeable and shared so much information about what we were seeing. We saw so many types of birds and many gators!!

Amazing! It was an experience. Everywhere alligators and much better than the airboat tours!!!

This is not a trail, we have to walk over pavement street in the park entrance so be careful with cars entering the park. When we reach the entrance we start walking at the side of canal and we return again. Don’t go alone. There is no security or park rangers anywhere. The map that is in this app suggest other route for starting the trail. We started where the national park center is; in the 328 Sw, so be sure where are you going first. Very confusing.

Great trail. You have the option of going through the longer, winding trail that offers more landscape views or the shorter, straight trail that offers more chances of seeing wildlife.

Best on a crisp cool sunny winter day!

HORRIBLE. all these pictures are from a biking trail. The walking trail is very small and boring. pretty much like you are walking on your back yard. this is a nice family park so people are everywhere.

As a mountain bike trail, this is excellent, definitely 5 stars. For hiking, it’s really meant for biking so at times it feels redundant walking in loops. There isn’t a lot of shade so I would go as early as possible to avoid the midday heat. I did see a few folks on bikes and I moved to the side to allow them to pass. Everyone biking the trail was really friendly and didn’t mind me there but I was definitely the only hiker. This says 4 miles, I don’t think that’s accurate. I walked the entire loop and even some side paths in 50 minutes. There are some gorgeous views of the water and city that you catch through breaks in the brush. Most importantly, DO NOT forget bug spray.

Flat with no shade the whole way. Get's pretty hot in the summer- bring lots of water. Doe this a number of times with family (kids as young as 5, but that was difficult for them). Great views of the everglades- especially from the fire tower. There is a restroom at both ends of this out and back trail.

Winter is the best time to go due to less bugs and lower heat. Path is a narrow asphalt one-lane road with primarily cyclists. Caution: there is a tram that shuttles people from the parking lot at the visitors' station to the fire tower- they get the right-of-way. Not really an issue until dusk- when the alligators come onto the trail to warm up and you have to go to the side for the tram to pass ;)

Great ride. I parked a little further down the road and biked to gatorhook trail head and back. I didn't see any other bikers. There were some cars doing the scenic drive so be prepared for some dust. Overall very pleasant with lots a vegetation, birding and Gators.

Great 15 mile loop for exercise and seeing gators up close during the cooler months. They rent bikes for $9 an hour. If you get there before 2 pm there is no wait for a bike. State park that gives you 7 day entrance with one time payment. Park on the side of the street to save time and money!

There are actually a whole lot of trails here that aren't listed in this app. The trail I was able to walk was very unique and fun. It was also a mountain biking trail so it had drops, steep-ish climbs (occasionally) and mini boardwalks. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

We had a fun time on the trail. There were plenty of alligators right next to the trail. Be careful with the kids. The watch tower was great. It was impressive seeing hundreds of birds all nesting in the same area. Entrance was a little steep $25 per car but it's good for a whole week.

Decent. I would recommend at least to go one time. It’s a good escape, keep in mind the trail takes around 2 hours to complete so be prepared. Bugs are usually around August-September.

Great trail system and very well maintained by the VKBC. Love coming out here on the weekends and take in the views by the bay.

Lol. I love when ppl refer to Florida as paradise. It’s anything but. It’s flat and boring. There’s nothing to climb here. This is a park. It’s not nature, there are gangs of ppl bbq’ing, planes flying over, but living here now this basic “b” is about as good as it gets.
