Boring and short. Views of the city.

on Cathedral Spires Trail

So beautiful!! Even the drive to get there is worth it.

With every step, you felt closer to Mother Earth. The stream crossings, the rolling prairie filled with wild flowers, cactus, grasshoppers, were a sight to behold. We saw lots of prairie dogs and heard coyotes in the distance. Buffalo were in the area but we didn’t see any. The warm breezes were so beautiful and peaceful. A comfortable hike. Just over 2 miles. Cannot rate easy because of the hills, and some lack of shade.

The views of the needles were stunning on this hike. Wildflowers, stream crossing and spots to climb rocks on your way up a moderate hike. Lined with wild raspberries, it made it easy to stop and take a look around you. When you get to the trail signs, you are surrounded by granite needles. Meandering is highly recommended.

Awesome short trail. Great to get out and make some memories. Lots of cool places to get to off the main trail as well - just watch for rattlesnakes! We didn't see any but there are plenty of signs. Trail was a bit steep and there is loose gravel so it can be a little slick, but I never felt unsafe. Very cool. Would do again.

Beautiful Scenery!

The trail is short but very steep and slippery, so be careful when hiking. On the top of the trail you can have a different angel to see the badlands along the road. It's beautiful.

Just a study of the fossil and geologic age. Not a scenic trail. Good for kids to learn.

You can see the cliff like a bowl and notice the abundant vegetation induced by the water flow down from the cliff. Besides there is not much to see.

A interesting hike, although it's not for seeing badlands. It's so dry in the trail. I thought I was in another planet.

A nice hike there. The field in the end of the trail is great. Another thing impressed me is the ladder in the trail. It's exciting and funny.

Majestic view of the Presidents. Easy and paved with a few stairs and wooden decking. Unfortunately at time of my visit part of the loop was under renovations. August 8, 2018

This trail takes a little effort, but is not overly difficult. The views are amazing and there are plenty of opportunities for rock scrambling. Parking is somewhat limited, so the trail does not get overly busy.

Loved this trail! My favorite part was the steep climb as it starts to connect to the castle trail then plateaus out. Really amazing views and I sat there for a few hours just hanging out on the edge where it also forms a 'ravine' but is really more of a sharp drop of loose boulders and rock. Just watch where you place your hands and feet come the summer for rattlesnakes.

One of my favorite views! the Badlands is my favorite place to be and this is one of those hikes with great views and though it's moderate it's well worth the hike! Make sure to have lots of water with you too, as it can get extremely warm even in the shade.

Fun trail! I really like the ladder!

Trails were a little muddy which was the only trouble I seen while hiking. Would highly recommend hiking this trail some very spectacular views.

Short fun hike with a bit of everything that the Badlands has to offer, except prairie.

It’s a simple trail at Mt. Rushmore, more of a walking path to see different angles of the faces. Very busy but still really cool to see.

Short, uphill loop with a fantastic view. Super close to the visitor center.

Great trail. Hiked with wife and four sons (15, 14, 11, and 8). Kids loved the rock scrambles. Views were amazing the whole way up and down. Seemed longer than 1.6. Sign there says 2.2 round trip. Would have been 5 stars but trailhead was jammed, limited parking. Hiked today, a Tuesday in July.

Fun trail! I had a really good time on this short hike, but it had an amazing view at the end which made it a must!

Beautiful scenery, not quite as crowded as Black Elk Peak. Would definitely go again.

Great trail. Beautiful Scenery. Not too crowded when we were there in late May. 5, 7, & 9 year olds did great. Our 5 year old never once asked for shoulders and would stop, look around and exclaim, "Mama, it's beautiful!" Highly recommend. And the scenic drive along the Needles Hwy to the trail head is excellent as well!

Amazing hike with stunning views. This was my favorite hike in the Badlands. Took my family and we all had a blast. My 8 and 10 year old boys loved sliding on the steep trail on the way down. Started the ascent 8:30am and had the trail all to ourselves - def the way to go.

Easy walk to take in views at Rushmore.

This is a very beautiful area and the trail is fairly easy (but not suited for baby strollers). The lake, the waterfall, and the rocks make it interesting. A very cool place!
