Stunning

It was worth it to get there early: get a good parking spot and beat the crowd to the falls! It was a lovely hike, and I was lucky enough to get a bit of solitude at the falls. There was a decent bit of water, even though it's been a while since the last rain. I'll definitely be coming back!

Granite lake is such a beautiful lake. The reflection of surrounding trees on the green-blue water was spectacular. The extra hour or so hike from granite lake to Maggie's peaks was also totally worth it because from the top, I could see Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay, Granite Lake, and two other lakes. We also saw an eagle fly upwards what we hiked for 2 hours in 10 seconds. This was overall a very impressive hike. Definitely elevation gain involved.

I’ve done this trail from beginning to end and back again! A few times! I love all of it, the views are amazing and so are the trails and steps! It’s one that I will keep doing until I feel accomplished with my finish time, and even then, I will still do it because I personally like it!

Beautiful hike.

enter and exit with Sunshine but in the middle of the trail there might be frost and slight rain so the road is a little muddy.

This trail is a little boring, and the water fall is too small.

We’re from Texas. Elevation nothing. It was a gorgeous hike! We only hiked up to the lake, about 1.25 miles. However, we hiked around the lake to the other side over the little ridge there. Offers stunning views of Lake Tahoe. Worth the hike around the lake and up a little further.

Its a long day hike starting from parking lot. You need to follow slate creek trail and then at the slate creek campground you need to take left to bear creek trail. Camp ground has benches and table along with one portable waterless toilet. Continuing on bear creek trail will leave to peter's creek grove. Along the way you will find some old growth trees which is just amazing to be around. You will also find an old battered car almost eaten away by nature (wonder what story it holds). Peter's creek grove is 1.3 mile loop and it very secluded with lots of birds around and the creek sound is blissful to just hear it. Have lunch there and trace back the path to parking lot.

My favorite trail in SF

I want anyone reading this to know that there is NO "Old Paige Mill trail'...at least the portion heading north to Skyline Ridge. I know it has it on the map, but I was standing on the 'trail' and I assure you it is not a trail and not passible. Had to backtrack out and ended up at the rangers station. The rangers said there is no trial there and it does not exist on the maps they have of the SP. That being said though, this is a beautiful park to hike in!

Gorgeous views. Granite Lake is pristine and well worth the stop to swim and relax before continuing the climb. Definitely worth the push at the end for the panoramic views!

A great city escape; trail is narrow and temperatures can vary quite a bit as you walk around Mt. Sutro, but still a must do trail

Easy trail with a couple of steep switchbacks but definitely a beginner trail. There’s lots of poison oak, runners, dogs, and bikers, but the trail gets deep enough into the forest to provide an urban escape with mist and silence punctuated by bird calls and creaking trees.

Nice hike in San Francisco with beautiful views of Golden gate . I'm not sure if weekdays is busy as weekends . trail was pretty crowded for that Saturday but it defenetly worst that to see scenario views and do some cardio at same time .

Beautiful hike! It is moderate and goes around the bay :-)
Nice views of Golden Gate all the way. If you want to hike all the way to Golden Gate, you need to walk through BEAUTIFUL homes in SF! The one's which are like my Dream Homes! Oh well moving on, the hike is simple walk from the trail end to GG.

I would rate this hike as easy / moderate! Some elevation which is nullified by the beautiful views.

Brilliant hike. Did it with 3 kids (9, 12 and 15). My gps says 8km all in all.

If you want to spend an afternoon walking in the woods but nothing tiresome, this is your best choice. It is also kid-friendly.

The hike is very beautiful with views of golden gate and fairly moderate trail with mostly flat terrain. We got there early(by 7.00 am) , so the parking was ample and the trail was less trafficked. The weather was just perfect for a hike.

Great views, not always clear and usually windy. Definitely a fairly easy walk and great for dogs.

Definitely come here early in the morning. Just went on July 15, and we were glad we got there early at 8:30. Got the trial to ourselves and made it down to Eagle’s point. We hung out for a bit and circled around to the Legion of Honors museum and made our way back down to the coastal trail. On the way back there were a TON of people. Glad we came early to secure parking and made sure we didn’t have to walk side by side with everyone else that just start the trail. Great scenes here and there for a quick photo with the bridge. Will come again soon, but a lot earlier to get the trails to ourselves.

The dirt road in was not rough at all. You do have to get there early as parking near the gate was almost full around 10:30am. From the parking lot, we walked straight to the gate where the trail begins. We took a wrong turn at the Porter House Site, veering down and to the right instead of staying left and continuing uphill on the Loma Prieta Grade. Thankfully, we ran into someone who brought their map that the ranger gives you at the park entrance (entrance fee is $8). We crossed the creek 12 times on the way in. The trail was a little muddy in a couple spots but it’s not bad. There were a few places where we had to scramble over rocks. The falls are about a mile past the Bridge Creek Historic Site. Definitely plan on getting into the water and under the falls—super refreshing even if it’s a little chilly!

All in all, we had a great time on the hike and it was a mostly shaded trail. Do bring bug spray as there are a decent number of mosquitos and watch out for poison oak.

Great hike we have older children they loved it beautiful views

A beautiful hike in the.middle of the city! This trail really makes you feel like you are out of the city and out in the forest where you can only hear the sound of trees in the wind. I went in July and there were so many cherry trees and plum trees with fruit. Def recommend!! Lots of mountain bikers like to rise here.
