It was a pretty walk but the farther you went, the trail just followed the road so it wasn’t that interesting and saw everything we did driving in. No too difficult of a trail to walk

Jan 13, 2019.

Muddy, sloppy, dicey in places. Gorgeous and a ton of fun. Bring a gel or two, and at least one water bottle. Counter clockwise is the ticket. The climb on the way back from the falls is pretty mellow.

I wrote down directions and put them in a plastic bag prior. GPS for All Trails actually worked the entire time, however.

I was slow for my own pace, and some spots I couldn’t go very fast. Plus I stopped to take pictures of course.

Go a couple days after a good rain. The trail will be firmer, but the falls will be active.

If you go counterclockwise, Sunset Trail, to Berry Creek Falls (Left), to Skyline to the Sea (Left), all the way back to the Sunset trail (the way you came), you should get it done in less than 2 hours. If you’re fast, 1 1/2 hours. If you get it done in less time than 90 minutes, you’re a nut!

I did it in 1:53 minutes, 9 miles total, walked the last 0.5 because I bonked.

If you’re hiking, you should be able to get this hike done in less than 4 hours if you don’t lallygag. This IS NOT the 10.5 loop however. Don’t get confused. That loop takes longer. See my directions above. Be prepared, know where you are, and where you’re going. Don’t be a hero.

There’s a Wood bridge- big enough for cars - near the Sunset/Dool Trail Connecter. It’s a good spot to meet up with friends and get stretched out.

Happy running! Follow me on Strava!

Always beautiful, ever changing ocean views. Walk this walk frequently.

I’m 50/50 between describing this trail as a hike vs a walk. Regardless, the trail was gorgeous and we had a great time. We ended up doing the full loop, hiking about 5.3 miles in around 3 hours. This was my first experience hiking through Redwoods and this trail didn’t disappoint. The stretch driving from Saratoga to the park headquarters was also a bit of fun. Would definitely go back.

Very pleasant hike through the redwoods. Long, lots of steady downhill getting to the falls, which means lots of steady uphill coming back to the park headquarters, but nothing very steep, so not super strenuous. Arrived at the trailhead on a Thursday at 8:50am and only a couple cars, but by the time we finished the hike at 1 it was pretty packed, and we saw many groups on the trail heading out as we were heading in. We did a counterclockwise loop, as recommended, avoiding a trail closure on the Sunset Connector Trail, for a total of 11.3 mi, 2331 ft of elevation change in 4 hours, 10 minutes. The waterfalls were not astounding, but they were very pretty, and there are good viewpoints of all three falls along the trail. The long trek to and from the falls through the redwoods is pleasant, although it can be a little monotonous. Overall a very nice hike, be sure to bring layers since it does get chilly in the shade of the redwoods, even on a gorgeous sunny day like today.

Great family hike! Came here with my family on Christmas day, and there's definitely pretty steep up and downs, but my parents managed just fine with a walking stick. We did a clockwise loop, South Ridge Trail to end of the Bluff Trail, a quick jaunt to the first viewpoint on the Middle Ridge Trail, then headed back to the parking lot via Arroyo Trail. Total was 2.55 mi, 653 ft of elevation change. Beautiful views of the coast on a sunny clear day. Bring a hat and layers for the wind and the chilly shaded Arroyo Trail.

Great Trail with beautiful waterfalls. Definitely a full day if you hike the loop.

It’s really good one with great waterfalls.

Definitely an interesting hike. Tree lovers will enjoy this trail. Slippery rock can be very....slippery as the name suggests, so casual wear like sneakers are not recommended. Imo the waterfall is okay. The atmosphere is great.

Today I made the loop. Falls were beautiful due to recent rains. Few(3) fallen trees blocked the trail but feasible to sneak into it. I made clockwise loop like many which was strenuous.

Beautiful trail.

Easy light hike. Great redwoods and banana slugs!

Solid beach hike

A fine hike. Good mix of uphill, downhill and some flat. Mostly in eucalyptus forest. The only caution is that the trails are not marked and cell coverage is spotty. So download the map and use the gps when you are unsure - which is a lot.

Very calm and tranquil hike. Feels like a peaceful place throughout. Only disappointment was the semperviren falls. I wouldn't call it a waterfall. It is just a small drip of water falling off a rock. The entire height of the fall is about 5 or 6 meters only

most beautiful but sometimes too crowded and unfortunately cars

Nice, basically easy walk, which is on the old road. Beautiful views! Saw whales from on high. Great for a family with kids.

Great length of hike and definitely I’d rate this as moderate l. Steep dusty uphills are rewarded with nice downhills in intervals. The views along the way are absolutely worth the sweat! Bring a jacket if it’s foggy because on the way back you’ll need it in the areas with all the trees! We’ll do this one again for sure.

Great trail for intermediate mountain biking. A few tough spots but well worth the ride to Berry Creek falls. Saw plenty of friendly hikers and a few other bikers.

Hike was better than I expected. Even though it is not a rain season, still pretty good waterfalls. Curiously my GPS showed roundtrip to be just under 15 miles. Not sure how to account for discrepancy.

Nice shaded trail. Just a bit hard to find.

Resumed hiking after 2 years with this one. We also followed counter clockwise. About 4 hours we completed with few stops. It was difficult but I was able to complete. falls, birds, redwoods and you will enjoy.

My first hike in this area. Redwoods were beautiful to view. Was disappointed we missed the falls as the signage wasn’t clear. The last half mile or so is on the road. All in all a decent shady walk.

great hike!

Keep in mind you will not see the piegeon point light house on this trail. This is simply the nearest hiking trail to the lighthouse. We wanted to do a hike since we came from SF to see the light house so this is where we went. The trail was decent. It was clean, has a cool looking foot bridge, and a nice Vista sitting area overlooking a pond with some hills in the background. However you have to cross the highway twice with no crosswalks and you can see/hear the highway in the background most of the time. Also the part through the beach should be considered optional dependent on weather. Watch out for poison oak which lined about a quarter of the trail

Quite a pleasant walk, through woodland. Seeing the deer was a treat.

We liked the hike, pretty and quite easy. A lot of trees! It was quiet despite the presence of people and the proximity of the road for half the trail. We missed the waterfalls, so if you want to see them, keep a eye on them on the map, because we didn't see any sign.

A bit tough. I’d take everyone’s advice and do counterclockwise, we unfortunately did the opposite per the rangers suggestion and we only saw one other couple doing it this way. Much easier doing it counterclockwise and I know why now. Beautiful place and waterfalls are amazing to see.

A terrific little hike! Far more steep than I was expecting (this was hike #2 of the day!), but gorgeous views and enough variety of terrain to make it interesting. I recommend some shoes with very good grip, as portions of this dirt trail can get a little slippery. I was going at a pretty good clip and it took about 90 minutes. If you're looking for something a little longer, I'd recommend combining with the Devil's Slide trail which is right next door. I popped over to that trail briefly and saw whales surfacing!
