Awesome trail, hiked in the snow but as of right now it's well packed and easy walking. The creek crossing has a kind of sketchy looking ice bridge but it felt pretty solid walking across. Definitely more like 11 miles out and back, not 9.3. The hot springs themselves are amazing, with one shallow but big, clean and hot pool to soak in and a few others that might be good sometimes but were pretty slimy when we were there. It's also relatively flat and open so I'm sure it would make for great camping in the summer. These are our new favorite natural hot springs for sure.

My first time here and this is a great winter visit! Be prepared tho microspikes saved my toosh a few times. If you are going bring them! Doable without but my hiking partner hit the ground several times as did his dog. There are several pools but we arrived a little late and got the middle pool. Enough for 2-3 people of your friendly :). Rumors of cars being broken into at the trailhead so take precautions with your valuables.

Weir Creek Hot Springs is a great way to spend the day. It’s only .7 of a mile to the Springs but it is ALL uphill except for the last .1 of a mile. So I’d say it’s a moderate hike even though it’s short. Like everywhere else in Idaho, clothing IS optional, so there will be naked people here; myself and my wife included if we are there. Lol. That being said, everyone, clothed or not is polite and respectful and there are a lot of conversations going on and people just enjoy themselves in general here! Definitely worth the day trip or half day! Go!

Went up with a group of 9, the most strenuous part of the trail is definitely the first two miles but it evens out pretty nicely the rest of the way. The trail varies from nice cool tree cover to hot, dry, and rocky. We went up around early afternoon and it got hot quick. The river was pretty low and not very treacherous to cross, there where plenty of rocks to walk over, but you should be careful anyways because nobody wants a whet pack. The camp site was nice, lots of large logs to push around to make benches. The hot springs themselves where clean, they have a scoop to dispose of the algae if it builds up. Overall it was a really nice hike, the weather was great and the pools felt great!

The pool is actually situated inside the Baumgartner campgrounds. The campgrounds are currently closed for improvements but you can still access the area by foot. It's just a short walk down a scenic road, not really a hike imo.

We saw several people leaving the pool area on our walk up and hoped to have a quiet soak. Alas, there were still 6 adults and a few children in the pool when we arrived. So we quietly waited1/2 hr for them to finish. Soon as we finally hopped in another group showed up and also hopped in...

Fun easy-to-moderate hike in with beautiful views. River was low enough to cross easily. Nice to relax in the hot springs!

Great little loop trail with some nice views at the top. Was great for a quick morning hike, definitely would do this trail again.

Great little hike to do with the family and your fur babies! Love this trail and the views but the parking lot is tiny. So get there early

Nice secluded spot, at least it was back in 2014. Not sure how it's held up.

Very easy trial, pretty scenery. Fun way to spend a day off.

TOTALLY WORTH IT! I got there during sunrise and had the whole place to myself for two hours. Really short hike to a really wonderful hot spring :)

It was a good chill hike. Was a bit longer hike cause big Smokey creek was rushing so the lower trail was cut off by the creek water was to high to cross. So we had to take the higher tail which made for a good hike.. if you like hot springs give it a try you won’t be disappointed..

July - Summer

This is a nice little loop trail that has some good viewpoints of the lake.

The forest is fairly dense at first but opens up as you continue the loop. Once out of the trees it is very open and can be a bit hot depending on the time of day. If you have dogs remember to bring water for them as there isn’t any water access on the trail.

The trail itself is pretty easy, only a small elevation gain and there are a couple of benches to sit and rest on.

Parking is nice and open, but remember that this is a state park, so fees are required.

Overall not something I would go out of my way for, but if your in the area it’s worth giving it a hike.

This hike ended up being close to 8 miles and is integrated with four other trails: Indian Cliffs, Plummer Creek Fire, Shoeffler Butte and Mullan Road Trail. It's possible to make this as long or as short of an outing as you like. Hiking an Easy incline on the "road" up with well marked trail signs, plenty of shade, and a variety of plants and animals. For more active individuals, this would be a better mountain biking or trail running area. Great place for dogs. Definitely stop at the Visitor Center and get a free map. Also, there are three parking areas to access the trail of the Coeur d Alene's biking trail.

Spent 2 nights June 11-13. Trail was muddy but passable. The creek was raging and would be very difficult to cross for most hikers. We crossed in hair-raising fashion, balancing on logs. The pools were a little grimy but 102-ish degrees and wonderful after a day’s hike. The creek is right nearby, as are small rivulets for water consumption. We day-hiked from the hot springs up toward the lakes, but halfway up the snow was still very deep, though it was packed enough to walk on. Very enjoyable camping location!

Great Hike. Took the kids. Not too busy!

Good hike with awesome views of the lake

Loved the trail. Nice easy hike with some climb to it but not strenuous at all. I look forward to taking my grandkids

5.00 per vehicle per day, Idaho residents can purchase an Idaho State Passport for 10.00 at DMV and get free day use at all Idaho state parks. Out of state residents pay $40.00 per year and can purchase online or at any state park.
These passes also give you a break on camping fees.

Great winter option for us today! Beautiful saw no one else on the trail would recommend

No where near elk city. So don't be confused. The trail was moderate, some steep places not for the light of heart it's a little over 5 miles each way. It was a good day trip took 6 hours with a hour or so at the hot spring. We went early and it was warm coming back but sooo beautiful. Light traffic looked like quiet a few people had gone in camping over the weekend. Soo beautiful. Worth the Hike!

Not a hard hike. Lots of exposure so I wouldn't recommend doing it in the heat of the day. The hot springs are beautiful and worth it!

A good, easy hike. There were a couple elevated areas that made my heart rate spike, but not too much to handle. I could have easily gone again. Pretty views toward the top.

beautiful! long but uneventful along the way. We had a total of 4 of us, 2 adults & 2 12 year old girls. we made it Just fine with a reward of Ice cream in Harrison at the end!

Pretty decent climb for us who are basically couch potatoes! It was gradual with a few steeper parts that we had to stop and rest for a bit. There were a couple of benches placed at strategic resting spots. The top flattens out and it was beautiful. We met two other groups of hikers on Sunday about 10:30. You need to pay for access.
