saw lots of local lizards and rabbits on trail. no wildflowers as one reviewer mentioned here. Trail was marked well enough, every time I was concerned I was lost, a clear trail marker showed up

A wonderful trail that showcases the Colorado Desert of the Sonoran very well. Very different biome from the northern part of the park and it is littered with many different plant species. Can’t count how many jack rabbits and lizards I saw. It can be easy to lose the trail and follow a dried creek bed so watch for the signs, of which there are many. The trail itself was a great run through of the nature nearby but the oasis at the end felt like something out of the movies. Definitely like nothing I’ve seen before with these towering palms in this little rock valley. There wasn’t much water in there and I don’t know if there ever is but I imagine it would make it even nicer

fun interesting place.

Beautiful wildflowers the entire hike and amazing constant change in terrain. No shade throughout and there are rattlesnakes (we had a close call on our hike). Be prepared for some scrabbling as you make it to the oasis. This area seems a bit disrespected by people so take this hike as an opportunity to enjoy the journey, and not the end point. Bring lots of water.

Rustic with loose dirt and rocks. Be well stocked with water and sunscreen.

Fairly easy trail with some ups and down in the middle. We did it early in the morning so heat was not a factor.

Loved, loved, loved this trail. It was a relatively smooth path for most of the hike. I got to look at the amazing wildflowers instead of looking down all the time. If you are in good shape you will be able to do this in 3.5 hours at a good clip. Someone mentioned the payoff wasn’t great for the effort but I disagree. Why do we hike? For exercise, views, meditation, to be in a different place than normal, etc... If you are looking for amazing wildflowers in JTNP this hike will give it all to you. Go soon. Expect a great workout and go prepared with lots of water and snacks. Moderate temps at that altitude, it seems right now.

I've done this hike for 4 years in a row now on the same weekend of March. This year was the best with wildflowers everywhere. The temperatures was perfect and the skies clear.

The first part of the trail was like many national park trails; wide and smooth. It was nice to have trail mile markers. The last part was pretty steep. Tennis shoes were fine. Hiking poles were helpful at the end.

A lot of work for not a lot of payoff

Moderate hike. There are some steep inclines and the terrain can be rough, but it does have a lot of flat parts. Nice views - nothing mind blowing. The trail is well marked and maintained.

Easy hike for avid hikers/those that are willing to scale down some rocks to get to the palms. There were some gorgeous wildflowers, especially in the first mile or so of the hike. Towards the end there are some hills to hike over. Went on a Saturday and there weren't many people on the trail. Definitely recommend taking the trek down to the southern part of the park.

Great hike, beautiful views of the surrounding desert about halfway to the oasis. Overall a relatively flat hike (but don’t let that fool you, it’s got enough small variation in elevation that your calves will remind you the next day). There is some genuine elevation change toward the end, including a rather brisk descent into the oasis, but the oasis is beautiful and worth it. Perfect spot to have lunch amongst the fan palms before heading back. If you choose to complete the loop at the end of the trail be prepared for a bit of wayfinding, look out for the cairns placed about. Overall took us 4 hours, but that included a stop for a meal. Overall hiking time probably 3.5 hours.

This trail was beautiful! It took us about 3 hours round trip including a long pause at the base of the oasis. The trail is marked with arrows and sometimes just a few stones - but we did not find it difficult to navigate. At the end you will see a sign post signaling you to walk down to the oasis. Definitely wear hiking boots or shoes with a good grip at the bottom - getting down to the oasis necessitates walking down a hill with pebbles that can make it slippery.
