Beautiful snowy trail. Easy breezy with microspikes.
Crampons crampons crampons!! They are your best friend here especially during your descent back down from the falls
Really nice little trail up to the lake. We had no issues using just regular hiking boots, but snow shoes would definitely be a plus if you’re trying to explore the area around the lake a bit. Very beautiful with the fresh snowfall!
Great conditions today. We didn't put on our snowshoes until we reached the lake, but wore them the whole way back.
Great trail with a beautiful waterfall. Today 2/23/21 we could do the trail in just boots. Spikes were good to have at the waterfall.
Nice trail! Can traverse with spikes, don’t really need snow shoes or skis.
evergreen
Packed trail. Used micro spikes and they were sufficient. Snowed whole time. Beautiful.
This was my first time on the trail since it has been rerouted through the forest rather than traversing the highway. It was soooo much better. We wore our snowshoes the whole time, but really didn’t need them. It would have been hard to get around the lake without them though. Pretty much everyone masked up when passing on narrow parts of the trail.
Well packed snow, short and pretty easy overall. Snow shoes weren’t necessary, we did it in micro spikes, but gaiters may be nice for the snow.
14/10 would do again! Great snowshoeing trail and would love to make it all the way to the falls next time.
Hit the trail with a friend at 3:00pm on Wednesday. We only saw six people the whole time. The trail itself is decently packed but after the lake if you continue on to Tom Dick and Harry it becomes posthole city. We hiked up to the view overlooking part of Hwy 26 and sat for a while and then turned back as we lost the trail in knee deep snow. Hood came out from the thick fog at sundown. We hiked back in the dark with flashlights. If you are blooking for a winter wonderland trail that is easy, this is it.
Great hike. Not too busy on a weekday. I had brought my micro spikes and snowshoes. Someone that had just finished the hike recommended just the spikes and that was the right call. It’s a narrow trail so snowshoes would feel a bit too clumsy. Snow is well packed on the trail.
Arrived around 10:15 on a Saturday to 4 cars in the parking lot. Probably about a foot of snow in the lot, we had to shovel a bit to get in far enough (in an F150). Snowshoes were necessary with all the new snow, saw about 8 or 9 groups. Falls were partially frozen. Two groups turned back near the parking lot that didn’t have snowshoes. Beautiful day with all the fresh snow.
Love this area when the sun is shining and the mountain is out! Very few people in the lot in the middle of the week and the trail was mostly just ours. Found an area to cross the river early and snowshoed up the little valley. Wonderful place to snowshoe if you're a beginner!
Arrived at around 7:30am on a Wednesday morning so the trail was delightfully empty until the lake. Unfortunately it was too foggy to see the mountain at the lake but the moderately difficult trail up was snowy and beautiful, with lots of licheny spruces standing sentinel over the many picturesque bridges over lovely streams. There was about 2-4 inches of crunchy snow but the trail was very well packed and I didn't need anything more than snow boots (don't recommend snowshoes until after the lake or at all, as they are clunky and unnecessary). Got to the lake in about an hour at a medium pace, went around the lake in another 15 minutes, and went about 15 minutes more up the Tom Dick and Harry trail. The trail gets narrower and a little more slippery after the lake, and there is a fun overlook of a valley (and in fair weather, Mt Hood) not too long after.
Great hike. Arrived at 10am on a Sunday, 4 spots available. Was mostly icy, shoes spikes are needed. People without them were turning back. Brought my larger dog, small section where he had a rough time toward the falls.
A wonderful hike with a lot of views. well cared for trails.
Perfect day for a hike!
Very pleasant hike around the Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. Any time of the year I take it and it is always different. Today beautiful winter weather
Easy trail, beautiful scenery.
