Great day not a cloud in sight. Smoke from the California wild fires was very prevalent. First time this hiking season that I wore a short sleeve t-shirt over 12,000’ even the slight breeze felt refreshing because it was a hot day.
Ran into 40 people who were doing memorial hike for Peter McInerney

The road was in good shape and it’s a very good workout.

Views were mostly blocked by the smoke.

Followed directions to trailhead. Used app recording to insure we were on the correct path. First surprise was a steeper descent to the stream from the start. Trail narrows at the stream so we backed up and aborted this trip.

Delightful moderate hike above the treeline. Outstanding vistas. Last cairn is a throne!

Pleasant meandering trail. I recommend taking the free gondola from the base to the second stop at Grand Lodge. It's a short walk from there to the trailhead. Hike down to the Shock Hill gondola stop and get back on the gondola to return to the base. This avoids walking on the confusing streets in that last segment down.

Walk the path by the river, it’s beautiful and is not nearly as rocky. We walked the river path up and it was gorgeous!! It brings you out at a nice place to lay out in the rocks and then you continue on to the main tail to the lake.

Lots of development and roads cross the trails. Dust abounds.

Very easy trail. Some narrow spots and switchbacks but very basic - great for beginners. We also camped to watch the meteor shower. Camping spots were plentiful. Really nice, open spaces. It was a great weekend trip!

I was blown away by the views of this hike! There’s actually three ponds, if you go out a bit past the first one and the views from there are amazing! It’s super short and there’s not really any hills. Good for families with kids and for those not able to do much hiking but still want to see some crazy good views.

Breathtakingly beautiful and easy. We wanted a short little hike before dinner and boy did this location deliver. Gorgeous views 360 degrees. Make sure you hike out to the third pond!

The trail is beautiful and not too difficult. But I have to agree with other commenters that it’s very busy on weekends and the amount of loose rock is tricky. I still recommend it though because the lake and the waterfalls are relaxing. Also, parking at the Nederland park n ride and getting the shuttle is the way to go; it’s there every 15 minutes on the weekends and you don’t have to deal with the scarce parking at the trail head.

A great, straight forward trail with tremendous scenic beauty. Numerous places to pull off and enjoy the scenery, camp, or picnic. The trail is open all the way to the summit at about 12500 ft. Once you head down the back side, there's a cut off that trail called by some Crashed Truck Trail. There's a crashed Toyota 350 at the end of the trail. The trail is definitely not EASY and has a few sketchy parts. Don't attempt with a full sized truck!

Did this in the evening around sunset. Absolutely INCREDIBLE at that time. We stayed late and could see the Milky Way!

Nice well marked trail that takes you up to Lost Lake, a clear, shallow mountain lake at about 10,000 feet elevation. It’s a bit tough on the way up, but a fun hike down. Nice Mountain View’s and shallow rocky rivers with a couple large waterfalls.

Great trail, stunning views!

Fantastic short hike for flatlanders staying at keystone and wanting to get away from the hustle of Summit County. Breathtaking views , clear water and wildlife.

Beautiful scenery, very easy, great for kids and visitors. You have to pay the state park fee for Roxborough.

Fairly easy hike. Good trail improvements along the way. Definitely a lot of wildflowers, waterfalls, and scenery. The lake at the top is worth every step. We would definitely come back for a picnic lunch on a nicer day. The clouds started rolling in once we made it to the lake and we had to cut the chill time short. I definitely recommend blazing your own trail at the bottom to see a few waterfalls that aren't as easy to get to or see from the main trail. As other reviews have stated stay to the left.

I love this hike, great views, like waterfalls and rolling rivers. go early or go late

Went yesterday afternoon 8/5/18. Made it to the top where the snow/ice was blocking as most people mentioned. A few of us used ice picks and were able to chisel away enough room that a 2018 Toyota Tundra got through the pass. We even had a Subaru Outback make it through as well. Pretty narrow but doable. Other than that, the views were amazing and the trail itself is perfect even for first timers. Not too technical.

Easy, yes, but very pretty. As someone else said, the perfect short hike.

Great hike! A bit rocky throughout. We had a little trouble knowing where to go to go around the lake. It was busy and parking was tight. Would go again!

We chose the 3.1 mile trail up to Carpenter Peak. The park lists it as being a strenuous trail. I would say it is more of a moderately difficult trail with a couple of areas being more on the strenuous side. The main drawback is large portions of the trail have no tree coverage, so it can get hot. Also, there is no way to refill water bottles once you leave the visitor's center, so make sure you bring adequate amounts with you.

Once we made it to the Peak, we were met with 360 degrees of amazing views. You can even see downtown Denver out in the distance.

Roxborough was a great place to spend the day out in nature. There is enough challenge to really get a great workout, but the elevation (7160 ft) isn't so punishing for those who are still working up to higher elevations and longer distances.

Super easy, well maintained, nice little bridges. Connected with the Nordic center trails and made it over to peak 8 adventure park. Dry @11:00 after rains last night and this am.

Two Conservation officers were clearing snow/ice around 10:30AM this morning. By the time they left, enough was cleared that a side-by-side snuck through....our Jeep did not. A few good hands and some sweat for an hour or so would allow for vehicles to clear....although the drift is heavy ice, not just snow. In any case, we navigated a 12-Point turn in the Jeep at the drift and headed back down. Great trip, great views, worth it! Next time hope to camp.

This trail was so much fun for my whole family. My kids easily did this 2.5 mile loop. There is a lot of history at Roxborough Park. Be sure to check out the little house by Washington Park. Also be sure to do the little Lyon Overlook on the east side of this trail. Great photo op! We will be back. So worth the $7 state park fee for this park. There is also a nice visitor center at the beginning of the trail. If you can watch the short video inside it’s great, 10 minutes max. They have a nice picnic area in front of the visitor center. Also a water bottle refill station in available near the bathrooms.

Hiked this 8.4.18. Spectacular scenery. There were a number of 4x4s that passed me but it’s certainly not heavily trafficked. There’s still a deep chunk of snow at the very top so if you drive this you’re forced to back down til you can turn around. My advice is to hike it, don’t drive it! You’ll get so much more out of it. Look forward to snowshoeing this come winter. It’s a workout, due to the incline and descent. I’d rate it more on the moderate side for hiking.

Easy peasy

The trails are well marked and beautiful scenery. This is one of my favorite trails to go on. However, I would suggest to get there early as the parking lot gets full & it’s a very popular hike.

Love this trail.... so amazing. the views!
