Love this trail. A good steady incline up, beautiful buttery downhill to a nice creek flow off of the falls. Beautiful in winter, can’t wait to head back in the spring.

Snowshoes to the top today, great conditions!

We snowshoed up to Broome Hut on 12/1/18. The trail was well packed for the first half mile. Someone went up without snowshoes and was post-holing which messed up the trail. It took us 1.5 hours to get to the hut and 30 minutes to get back down.

There were a handful of people at the hut. It was great to stop and have a snack before heading down. We'll be back to continue the hike up to Twin Cones.

This is a fabulous trail in any season Today's early morning snow shoeing found packed snow at start of trail with much deeper snow as elevation increased. I turned around once I entered the alpine terrain above tree line. There was only one other person on the trail this morning, so I basically had the trail to myself (and my dog).

Quiet wooded trail, but very windy.

Perfect for snowshoeing! We only made it up to the hut due to strong winds and snow. But is about a mile in. Snow shoes and even ski googles are needed if you want to summit.

Overall an easy hike and definitely beautiful with all of the snow! The trail was mostly snow packed, so easy enough to hike. We brought our shoe spikes, but probably would've been fine without. A couple miles in, the trail does just kind of stop, with no more footprints to follow, so it's shorter than the full 7 miles, but still worth it for a slightly shorter hike.

Only hiked a small portion, but it was beautiful.

Nice trail go a shot day hike

Gorgeous trail summer and winter. well traveled so snowshoes are not really necessary till the last mile or so. the winds are strong by the lake so they cover the tracks of others quickly. Veer NorthEast(right) as you climb and you'll get to the clearing. After that's it's just a few hundred feet to the lake.

Had a bluebird sky today and there were only two other people on the trail. We were almost there and lost the trail and never made it to the falls! Disappointed but the snow/no snow mix made things really unclear as to where to go and there are no markers. This is my third time and only time in the snow. Still a beautiful place to be.

Yesterday started out with crampsons thinking that was enough however as soon as I got to the hut I found that snow shoes would definitely be needed I’d like to do it again

Beautiful but busy, go early

It was extremely snowy this time of year. Do not go without snow shoes. About 90% of the way there I had to turn around because the snow was up to my waist. Still beautiful until that point!

Beautiful stroll through meadows while paralleling Cow Creek. This hike is more moderate- than a firm moderate but there are a few moments that will get your heart rate going. I didn’t get to the TH until 9:45am on a Saturday and there was only one other car, which based on other reviews seems rare. Parking is definitely limited though. I only saw 2 others on my way to the falls however, pasted 10-12 on the way back to my car. Most of the trail was wet dirt, then closer to the falls (on this day) you do get some snow (less than 2 inches). No need for micro spikes. The falls are still flowing and makes for a nice reward! RT was about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Hiked on 11/2, snow on parts of trail but made it to falls without using microspikes. Quiet trail now, doesn’t get steep until very last quarter or third of a mile.

Hiked 10/28. It’s pretty snowy already but we managed without yaktraks. Beautiful hike for the short distance. Highly recommended esp, with dogs!

Really awesome trail that has a waterfall and many connecting trails BUT, as simple and short as it is you can get lost pretty easy so be careful. Saw one snake but not too crazy of wildlife beyond that. CLImBerS will love this place as it has many tie off points for ropes or you can free climb and boulder a bit. Descent amount of people but everyone was pretty chill and it was a good vibe all around

Its a little slushy and slippery out there lately, best if you have high boots and yak tracks. As always, a lovely hike!

Trail was great for a nice afternoon stroll. Just enough to get the blood pumping. Not much of a waterfall right now; but hoping to do it in the spring again.

Good hike. Nice steady climb after about a mile of flat. Went in late fall and definitely needed the yak tracks and some good water proof hiking boots. Layers was the name of the game. Bring a wind breaker cause it was pretty windy at Heart Lake.

Hiked yesterday 10/28, weather was great. Above 10,000ft, the trail is about 90% covered in snow, which is compacted so I would recommend micro spikes. I put mine on about half a mile from the lake and used them on the way back out for about a mile also. The lake is almost frozen over, some open water still visible.

Nice little hike. I would call this easy rather than moderate. A couple of sections to get your lungs working, but easy otherwise. Lots of people and pets around 11:00, but until then, we virtually had the place to ourselves, even on a Saturday. Not too far from town, so definitely one I'd do again!

My husband and I, along with our dog, Breezy, did this hike this morning. We arrived at the first parking lot at 8 am. We didn't think we could make it up the road to the TH so we decided to just hike it. It was a pretty good workout on the way up and I was really thankful for my spikes. Once above the tree line, I was glad I had lots of layers on. The wind almost blew us over at times. It was gorgeous up there! We went to all 3 lakes and only the highest one was frozen over. Beautiful views and not too much snow. I would love to come back in the summer to do this hike again. My Fitbit clocked 7miles RT including the hike up the road to the TH.

I tend to enjoy hikes a bit more when there is water involved. This is definitely a fun hike and amazing once you get to the falls! I must say I am guilty for packing a nice snack and enjoying it by the water!

Really great hike!

Great for sightly more difficult family hikes.

This was a great hike! There are three lakes at the top, the third is a bit further up & is frozen over. The trail is completely snow covered and icy in some patches but passable the whole way. Spikes would be nice if you like to use them, but not necessary. It was a little windy at the third lake and we were occasionally stepping into knee deep snow. Great hike with the doggies. We saw a few other groups of people along the way. Absolutely gorgeous!

There was some snow but nothing hiking boots couldn’t handle. The open meadow section was nice with the running creek and we saw some deer. Once you get in the wooded part it gets really pretty and a little more climbing. Parking was packed around noonish but we waited for 15 minutes and someone left to give us a spot. I imagine this hike is awesome in early fall or spring with the leaves but it was a great way to spend the day.

We absolutely loved this hike yesterday. I went with my 2 adult children. A lot of it was in open meadow, which would have been brutally hot in summer, but was pleasant now with temps in the 50’s. After the meadow, there is considerable hiking in the woods beside a stream which is lovely. When you get to the base of the falls, which arguably aren’t too big, you may think you are done. But we watched a group of three cross the stream and head up on the left side. Good luck finding the trail, as it appears nonexistent at this point. It is fairly steep and made me slightly nervous, but I have a severe aversion to heights and steep drop offs. What I’m saying is....if I can do it, you can too! The view at the very top did require some scrambling up rock surfaces but was worth it. We were told by the group of 3 up there that you can even climb higher by crossing the stream again and hiking up to the tip top, but we simply could never find this, and I was relieved because it looked steep! I was with 2 adult children, and it gets difficult to keep up, but I am mostly determined! We arrived to this trailhead at 10 and took the last spot there. There are not many spots so plan ahead!
