A well balanced trail, with a beautiful hike along a creek at the base, really awesome rock features along the way, and amazing views at the top. A hiking stick does help as it's pretty slick on the inclines/declines. As well, wear some layers given the elevation change as it can cool down quite a bit at the top if the sun is covered by the clouds. And, do yourself a favor and hike the extra .7-1 mile to Myrtles Point. The view there are unbridled. One of my favorite trails I've done even next to some great trails in RMNP and Zion!

Beautiful hike with amazing views. We only went to bluffs due to some of the hikers in our group.

Recommend this hike because it is family friendly hike. It runs along the river and you get to hear the water all along the hike. You cross the river several times on log bridges.

Excellent hike,
great views well worth it, hike listed as hard due to the elevation gain and some steep steps (but still steps).
alum cave is a good little hike many were not prepared even saw some with strollers lol... not a stroller event at all you should have sturdy hiking boots or shoes we passed someone who slipped and broke her arm on the way up she was being escorted by park rangers back down the path. we went all the way to to the top stopped for rest as frequently as we felt without being rushed had half gallon insulated hot tea and sandwhiches and plenty of snacks to last an entire day. at a lesurely pace with three major stops to rest and eat on the way as well as exploring around the summit and it took us 8 hours or so.. lots of stopping for pictures as well. i would layer like an onion wind chill factor on top of temparature change specially around dusk was significant... on our way down we helped escort a family of 3 girls and both parents that weren't prepared for the dark and the length - one small flashlight and the night was getting chiller (we both had day packs lights and enough food water for an entire day trip)

I went with some friends in the first week of August...we went early in the morning and were thankful the fog lifted by the time we got to the top. Too bad we couldn’t go to the final part of the trail as it was closed off. We also almost ran into a bear (it crossed right around the corner from us in front of two other people)!

Awesome trail! Good views, not too difficult.

Amazing Views after a challenging hike, streams the kids could play in. We loved it!

The view at Charlie Bunion is just amazing!! Worth a shot. Make sure you carry enough water cause it's not an easy hike.

Very fun and great views.

Bucket list success. Difficult yes but glad I did it. October 2018

Views at the end are really nice!

Really nice hike! we went early morning (around 8am) and only crossed a couple people. Unfortunately it was extremely foggy and our view from the top was non-existent. We are seasoned hikers and felt this to be a pretty tough hike even with the shorter distance. Even without seeing the view from the top , this was an awesome trail!

Wow, loved it!

Great hike! Beautiful view!

I would rate this more moderate for incline and very slippery parts. But overall we really enjoyed this hike! Great waterfall at the end!

My first hike since moving here to Tenn. , saw one bear, a doe w/ fawn , and great views. It was plenty long for my first hike!

Nice hike...tricky at times. Beautiful waterfall!

I found about this trail after talking to lady at the Tremont office. So glad she told me about this hike. It's a small but pretty moderate trail with lots of rock and roots so be careful. A couple of good views and the biggest pay off is the waterfall. It was picture perfect. Ate lunch there and took a quick snooze.

Loved this trail! Highly recommend for everyone :)

All time favorite trail. Bit of a trek on the way up and the top is closed off because of the wildfire, still worth the view.

Great climb! Beautiful views. You will get wet though, have to cross a few rapids on the trail.

Beautiful trail, Lots of traffic. It was my first experience hiking the Smokies. I would be happy to do this trail again!! It would be fun to do in the fall.

Great hike! Took my 8 year old daughter and she absolutely loved it! It’s definitely uphill the way there with a ton of rocks and roots to step over, but still very doable for kids over the age of 5. The waterfall is one of the best I’ve been to with an awesome pool to swim in! Hiked this yesterday and the water was perfect! There were some people around, but we still had the falls to ourselves for a short period of time. Definitely add this hike to the list!

My brother, cousin and I all hiked this In about 5-6 hours being in pretty decent shape. If you plan on going all the way to the top, I'd bring a lunch and plenty of water. If you only plan on going to the "inspiration point" just a water will do. There are multiple points that have fantastic views! The top view was great as well! I only give 4 stars because once at the cabins, the path to the peak isnt marked very well and can easily confuse most hikers. Overall was a good time.

Great trail! Lots of stairs with a nice trail that followed a little river. Very rewarding! Pack plenty of water and even a snack for the top!

Loved the trail. Had a lot of fun.

Croweded but it’s a nice hike.

This trail kicked our butts. it was 3 hours of strenuous uphill climbing, then 2 hours of going back down. However, the falls were gorgeous!! It was actually cold up there and we cooled off quickly. Take LOTS of water if you do this trail.
