Just hiked this trail today. It poured the whole way up to the top and when I got there the clouds were pretty heavy but could see some of the mountains around and the Chimney Tops, but within 10 minutes the clouds were all around- I literally felt like I was walking on the clouds. I decided to sit and wait out the rain and glad I did- it stopped shortly thereafter and the clouds began to lift and the sun even made an appearance which was a nice sight and I'm glad I waited around. The hike was good, definitely steep. For a relatively short hike, it was quite the elevation change. Worth the hike for sure!

amazing trail! We got caught in two thunderstorms but it really made the whole temperature rain forest vibe.

My first hike in Tennessee! I wish that waterfall was little bit taller for round trip of 5.5 miles. enjoyed the hike, and beautiful waterfall

Very pretty, a lot of wild animals with was cool

Strenuous 1/2 mile hike (one way), slightly to very crowded depending on day/time, totally worth the views.

I found a couple spots of this trail to be a little more difficult than “beginner level.”
But it’s worth the climb out. Beautiful falls! And much of the hike is alongside a creek.
There were lots of folks on the trail when I went in late April. Pack your patience for the Cade’s Cove Koop on the weekend :)

I hiked it this morning, hoping to see a sunrise at the top. However the rain clouds blocked any “red” from the chimney top you can see. The trail is well maintained and easy to hike in the dark with a head lamp. I’m hoping they work on the last quarter of a mile and open it to the public so you can get closer to the unique tops.

They say it's only 0.5 miles up and 0.5 down... The hike up is on a paved path but it is STEEP. Maybe it's because we had just hiked 8 miles for Charlie's Bunion.. The views we're worth it, though. Make sure you bring a light jacket. On top of the observation towers, it's 20 degrees cooler. If there's fog, just wait 5-10 minutes and it'll move! Panoramic photos are a must!

The cave is beautiful. The elevator ride down was pretty awesome due to the glass door letting you see the layers of dirt/rock. The walk in is pretty slow and the guided tour is pretty interesting. The fall is beautiful, the lights kinda give it that psychedelic glow. Worth a trip :)

Definitely a must see if you're in the area! 4 miles up and 4 miles down. The first 2 miles are mostly up hill but don't get discouraged! It is definitely worth the hike. When you eventually get to the "Charlie's Bunion" sign, most people take a left toward the "Bunion". I recommended taking a right to stay on the AT. There is a small trail as soon as you form to the right on the left hand side.. Take that straight up to the trail less traveled for an even BETTER view of the Smokies! This is the highest point t possible to view the Bunion. Make sure you bring plenty of water and snacks!

Great trail. Took my 7 yr and we had the Bunion to ourselves for 40 amazing minutes today. Trail is absolutely moderate, not hard but not easy. First 2 miles is uphill but then levels out to a nice high forest. The length should not be a deterrent if you bring enough food and water. Great views but the Bunion is small. Could be dangerous when crowded.

So pretty! Saw lots of wildlife and the kids loved it! We got out and walked at a few spots! Great if you don't like to hike but still like to see the views!

It is just a path up to a viewing point. Not a hiking trail at all. Crowded at the viewing point also, unable to snap a picture without others in the way.

The view was amazing! However, the hike was paved (which in my opinion takes away from nature) and it was highly populated and a steep climb with 3 littles!

Very well kept trail. Challenging but doable!

A lot of trees covered some of the great views but the ones we found were spectacular. A great hike into a temperate rainforest.

BE AWARE OF THIS TOURIST TRAP, THE FALLS ARE FAKE!
The water is pumped up from the pool below! When the lights go off at night the falls stop running!!
It’s a lot of $$$ to pay for a con job.

This was an amazing morning hike! we started at 7:30 am in the morning and were done in about 3 hrs. We enjoyed the peace and serenity on the trail, met only two hikers at the very beginning and then maybe 10 more heading up while we were on our way back. Definitely a moderate hike with a great walk in nature. The waterfall is more for views than for taking a dip, but the gurgling creek stayed with us almost all the way till the Albright Grove trail loop started.

Absolutely beautiful view. A good place to view the mountains from the ground level. We even saw a few animals, black bear, fox, turkeys, deer. A few of old houses.

It’s a great hike, not as strenuous as people claimed. Nicely maintained trail, with a lot of stairs. My 5 year old hiked up without any problem. She was super disappointed that we are no longer allowed to climb the big rock on the top. I thought there would be some rocks to climb at the end, but it was only the newly built platform. The view on the top is ok, not spectacular. The view of the stairs is much better.

A good hike. Only opens on Fridays to Sundays. Mostly unpaved, with rain it could be a bit muddy. My 5 year old did it. It took a bit time to hike up, but coming down was a breeze.

Fantastic hike, amazing views

Steady incline down on the way in makes for an increased difficulty on the way out. Not too bad even for inexperienced hikers, however the trail markers were tough to spot toward the end when the trail became less obvious. Following the sound of the waterfall proved more useful. A few spots where sure footing was not guaranteed.

Enough uphills and downhills to keep everyone happy. Make sure to check out the trees early on in the hike and you can see where the forest fire must have come through.

Don’t get me wrong, the views from the observatory are breathtaking and definitely deserve 5/5. But there were hundreds of people there and felt like an amusement park and not the great outdoors. That’s probably me being an outdoor snob, to be fair, but if you’re a fan of nature and pure hiking I’d do this one later.

This is a Smoky Mountain classic. The second mile to the overlook is intense but the views are totally worth it! Great mix of forest setting in the beginning to panoramic views at the top. Wife and I had a great time and would definitely would recommend!

Yup, STEEP. Felt like more than 3-4 miles up to the top, but when you go the way back down, you’ll be “oh that’s all?” :-) I enjoyed hiking this trail even though I had to make some stops to catch my breath! Spot a black bear on the trail, and had to wait some good 10-15 minutes before it left the trail.

Beautiful, easy drive! We loved the falls on the side of the road. We went at about 5 pm and found very little traffic. The directions definitely take you to the “out” end of the drive! We would definitely take this drive again.

Easy walk paved trail with great sunset views.

Love driving this motor trail. There’s so much scenery and places to pull over to walk around and see the waterfalls and a few old historical buildings. Also Ely’s Mill at the end is a must visit.
