Great scenery, great hiking, beautiful weather. The reason not 5 Stars was because of the snow covering the trail and in some places it was solid ice. Recommend some spikes or chains for your feet. Other than that is was a great day

My birthday hike! A crisp 32 degrees in the morning! Snow and ice after the footbridge made for a interesting trip back down from the falls. Temps warmed up enough to thaw out the froze mud which made it as slick as the snow and ice! Loved it!

This was a hard hike, but it was my fault for overlooking the hard rating when I meant to choose a moderate hike. FWIW, my Apple Watch says it was a 7.38 mile hike.

We started the trail while snow was still falling and it was around 25-28 degree outside. I couldn’t believe we climbed up for 1,000ft from trailhead to rainbow. It didn’t seem to be that much to me though. It was very slippery and frozen in last mile. We had to crawl over the big rocks to get up to the fall. Bring spikes if you have them. They will help a lot in the icy condition. When snow was melting, trail got super muddy. I got hiking shoes so it didn’t bother me much. People going with me in sneakers was struggling little bit. Overall, the fall wasn’t that impressive to me but the surroundings along the trail is fun and beautiful.

Did the hike yesterday and it took 4 hours round trip. I myself am a well experienced hiker still took me that long going at a steady pace. Starts out flat then after you cross the bridge it slowly builds up and you go up for a while then go down then up and down, then you’ll get to a section where you cross a bridge over the stream you’ve been following and then there it gets Very steep up the entire way til the falls but let me tell you it’s WELL worth it! The day I went it had rained then snowed the day before so conditions were VERY VERY icy and snowy so if you go in the winter or in snow I recommend crampons on the higher elevations. But snow or not totally worth it! So overall it’s up and down than up the rest of the way great day hike!

did this trail may of 2017, loved it a little difficult, but really fun. On the way down saw three deer on the trail and almost could reach out and touch them, they were standing that close it was awesome

This was a great hike to do in March. It was snowing which made for a gray view. If you are moving you stay warm. We stopped for 1. Eat and 2. Pictures of the waterfall. After stop 1 we cooled off significantly and after stop 2 we were cold the rest of the way down (gloves got wet). Still 5/5 hike just be prepared to be cold if you get wet.

Beautiful trail. Some areas have big rocks that you have to sit and swing around to get over. If it’s a dry season the waterfall will only be a trickle with no rainbow.

we did this hike 3/11/2018 and it was a blast. pretty strenuous trail with lots of side areas to rock climb and look over the river. Overall my Garmin watch clocked us in at 11.5 miles for the whole trip (we did a lot side rock climbing/exploring), and took 5 hours The trail starts out mellow as expected and slowly gets steeper and more difficult. The last mile is pretty much climbing stairs the whole time. good workout, scenic hike, and the falls are beautiful. Definitely recommend!

Nice trail! Hiked it on 5/8. Rocks and the incline to the waterfall make it challenging. On a good day I don’t think it would to hard. The rocks would make it challenging for anyone who wants to attempt to run it. The day we hiked it was in the upper 20s to 31. Trail was snow covered and had lots of ice so that made to challenging and slow going, but the snow made the trail and waterfall look like a beautiful white winter wonderland!

This place has an incredibly gorgeous waterfall called Looking Glass Falls and mild rock climbing if you want to get closer to the waterfall. And not far from there is Sliding Rock, which is also a waterfall but different in that you can actually slide down the whole thing like you would a water slide at a water park. It's gorgeous. Traffic was minimal, at least when we went it wasn't bad. It was really nice.

Fairly strenuous, though the switchbacks make it manageable. Take water as there’s none up top. The view off the bald face is amazing but do watch your step. Hammock camping on the top is epic.

Well laid out trail. Fairly easy if you exercise regularly. I highly recommend wearing correct hiking gear. The multiple areas of water accumulation make rocks and mud slippery in certain areas. Worst part is the trail is extremely well traveled and crowded. Waterfall at the end is amazing! There are a few small waterfalls on the way up that keep you entertained, but keep going until you see a large number of people crowded around the falls with a sign that says no climbing on rocks!

Was a awesome hike! My favorite so far and just did Mnt Leconte.
Views from Bunion are so amazing!
Also had ice so glad we had micro spikes, makes it a lot easier, faster and safer. Kinda tough hike but to us was well worth it, rocky so wear good boots for sure. Steep inclines so not for beginners and was crowed with tourists, most who did not make it to Bunion

Beautiful views, difficult but fun hike, lots of ice! The trailhead is to the left of the overlook at the Newfound Gap parking lot. Very windy and cold up there so layer up! Also significant ice in some spots so be aware of that but don’t let it hold you back from these gorgeous views. It’s an 8 mile round trip hike and it took us roughly two hours up and another two down with several short breaks. There’s an AT shelter about 3 miles up if you’d like to make it an overnight trip.

Tough trail but worth the effort. Awesome view. Don’t be afraid to take some of the side trails.. for example The Jump off trail is one that is worth the effort also.
Lot of ice in the trail today...

This was by far one of the hardest hikes we’ve done!! Beautiful views the trail is not marked at the trail head it starts at the Newfound Gap parking area to the left of the restrooms!

Cool hike to an epic waterfall

This hike was amazing the first two miles are fairly easy after that the fun begins. The last mile before the falls is steep with some rock scrambling it will give you a great workout. There are a few water crossing so if you don’t want wet feet wear some waterproof hiking shoes. The falls were great after all the rain we had the last few days.

This trail was great! Small little views along the way. Very rocky, muddy, and wet. Shelter along the trail is nice with a source of water. Bit of ice in one spot. Charlies Bunion is beautiful with plenty of rocks to climb on. Solid hike!

Great hike. Not super strenuous but not easy. Small waterfalls along the way and following a river. Gorgeous waterfall and great areas to climb/scramble around on some rocks!

Beautiful hike! Steady incline up but great trail. Rained during the day, but the trail held up. The smell of the water hitting the rocks, wow.

We did this trail October 2017. It was absolutely breathtaking. We are beginners at hiking and had to stop a few times and rest. My husband used walking sticks (said he doesn’t think he could’ve done it without them). My 14 year old son and I were fine without using them. This is a strenuous hike but absolutely worth it. We took a picnic and ate it once we reached the top (so glad we took the advice of others on this as we were starving once we got up there and needed some fueling). We sat on the rocks for a while after eating our lunch on them and just took it all in!! We took plenty of water and used every bit of it (about 3-4 water bottles a piece). We started around 9:30 am and finished up around 6:30-7 pm! Would highly recommend this hike if you love waterfalls, just go prepared and pack snacks/lunch!

Had a great time with my best friend Hoss!!! Hiked 9 miles or so and it was a jungle for about 2 miles, but 2 beautiful falls!!!!

One of my most fave hikes I have done! Would of been better if my buddy was in better shape. They held me up on pace. But you can actually bring a hammock and pitch it up at the peak and be fully relaxed through the day and have a pic nic too!

Great experience. we did it on Jan 4th so the temperatures were in the teens ☃️❄️.

Loved this hike! Dense forest, lots of shade, challenging with great views once you're at the top. Bring plenty of water and sandwich and snacks, wear sunscreen. Carry bear spray. Challenging and beautiful hike.

It was beautiful. Don't let the first Parr of the trail fool yuou, it does get a little more difficult as you make your way through. It's well worth the trip!!!

Trail is definitely longer than 5.3. more like 6.5 or so miles. The view at the end is worth it.
