Beautiful waterfalls and greenery along the trail! Really nice view even if you stop where the trail is closed. Past that you will be hugging some trees but it’s not too scary. Took about 2 hours. Bring lots of water as there are lots of stairs.

Trails were in great shape. Traffic was busy but to be expected on a beautiful Spring day in the Smoky Mountains.

Twenty years to get back here was 19 years too long for this majestic masterpiece. Good to see you again darling. Cue up Wagner's Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla and crank it up.

Great trail with scenery that really changes as you progress. We did it in mid April and there was no ice anywhere on the trail, but it was pretty wet. Also it was probably about 20 degrees cooler at the Leconte lodge than at the trailhead, so plan accordingly. If you're planning on buying anything at lodge, know that it's only open from 12-5.

This is one of the most popular hikes in the Smokies, and you can usually tell from the parking lot! It was quite busy when I went on a rainy Friday morning in March. The trail is paved but somewhat steep. The falls are really pretty! But be prepared for lots of people and potentially makeshift parking.

HikingGreat!

My favorite hike to date! There were some spots that were pretty steep but give yourself plenty of time, bring lots of water, remember to breathe, and it is so worth it! The views are amazing! Continue past LeConte Lodge to Myrtle Point for even more spectacular views! Bring layers as your body temp changes as does the temps outside! We went in the winter, I had long sleeve flannel, a t shirt, and a thick warm Sherpa. They all came in handy at all different points of the hike! When you reach LeConte it is a beautiful place to sit and have some snacks or lunch, the kitchen was closed when we went but we brought yogurt, granola bars, lots of water, and other random snacks! It was the perfect day! The hike back is obviously a little easier as it is back down the mountain. This hike took us 6 ish hours and that was taking our time to stop and have snacks, enjoying the views at Myrtle point, giving ourselves time on the way up!

I loved it! Busy trail but wide so you have space. It’s a paved road with steady incline for 1.5 miles then you hit dirt trail thru forest (also incline) for next 1.5 miles. Round trip it’s a 6 mile hike. I’m active and it Took me about 2.5 hours. Families and kids took longer. Lovely. Beautiful. Good workout! Your 3 miles back is downhill. Great views. Wear appropriate shoes!!

This was a pretty steady incline the entire time. A lot of stairs, but over all the streams and moss made for some beautiful views on the way up. We did this one with our 11 and 8 year old in about 2 hours. It is closed off at the top right now, but is still a pretty site at the top. Get on the trail before 8 because by 10 id was super crowded.

Great hike to start the day. We arrived around 9am and had the trail to ourselves most of the way until we were arriving back to the car. Definitely gets busier around 10/11 or so. All of my kids (8,7,4) managed this with ease and loved the falls.

We enjoyed this hike with our three kids (ages 4 to 10). It is a steady upward hike to the falls over an often broken paved walkway. The steepness of the first half of the trails was a bit challenging for our 4 year old, especially because there aren’t good places to rest. Some parts are so narrow (with cliff-like drops on one side) or broken up that it is not ideal for strollers or groups who enjoy spreading out to walk together. There are several really gorgeous scenic views of the mountains higher up on the trail. The falls are BEAUTIFUL, but there isn’t much space to sit and enjoy them (even if there had not been so many other hikers). We visited on a cool, rainy morning and there quite a lot of other people hiking.

Drove down from Maine to check out the Great Smokey’s. Did this hike our first day here and it did not disappoint. Top to bottom this is one of the best day hikes I have ever done. The views just got better and better and then even better than that. Myrtle Point is definitely worth the extra 1.5 miles. All in all ya just can’t go wrong here. Planning on staying at LeConte Lodge next time I’m here.

The road to the parking lot was open. Parking was a challenge so get there early. the trail does gain elevation to the the falls. It is a busy trail and wide enough in most spaces for people moving in both directions. the Falls were beautiful and worth the hike.

It has a significant elevation gain spread out over the 1.3 mile hike up to the falls. the pavement is broken up for the majority of the hike. it would be hard to push a stroller to the falls. It is a very pretty hike and the waterfall is worth the hike. Parking can be a problem, it is a very popular trail. we went after 6pm on a Friday night and the trail was not very busy!

Great hike with beautiful spring wild flowers along the path and side trails down to the river. Nice tall waterfall at the end with lots of water flowing. It poured rain while we were on the hike but we wore our rain jackets and the rain just added to the fun.

This hike is best thought of 2 parts: Part 1: to Alum Cave This is a beautiful, moderate section that follows a creek through lush forest for much of the way. It’s not too difficult until you pass arch rock, when it steepens up. Most hikers seem to stop once they reach Alum cave and turn around. For inexperienced hikers or those with children, this will be a solid workout and gets you some beautiful scenery. Part 2: to Mt Leconte (and beyond) From Alum Cave onward, the trail really steepens, and you move higher in elevation. You are rewarded with many spectacular views of the Smokies along the way. The best views we got were from “Cliff Top”, which was a spur just past the lodge. Had I known about Myrtle Point, I would’ve continued on to there as well, but unfortunately we turned around at High Top (which was confusing because there wasn’t really anything there). Overall, this hike has a wide variety of scenery and provides a nice ROI. Your legs / feet will feel it, but the memories are worth it!

Roads were open, the drive up was pretty, the trail was fairly dry, and the falls were gorgeous! No road closures today. I don’t think the hike would be worth it if the roads were closed, but if open, stop and check it out.

We really loved this hike. A nice consistent uphill climb but not too steep. Beautiful falls at the top. We had a 4 and 6 year old with us and they did most of it without wanting to be carried.
